The sad thing is a crossover game is a damn good idea for an anniversary game. ( see also) But a “social RPG” that's exclusive to iOS? I don't know if there's a worse way to do a crossover game. I hope that isn't all they've got planned. That cover art is kind of cool. :12:

Final Fantasy had Dissidia Kamen Rider had Decade Gundam had VS NEXT PLUS
I have played the iOS version of Rockman X myself, and it just didn't work.
The reason why the 2D X and Zero series have been so fun was because they boasted stages that needed sheer precision, which is only possible with tactile input devices; something that touchscreens cannot provide by-nature.

So what, is this like the Mega Man version of Farmville? That's the only thing that pops to mind when I hear "Social RPG." Social gaming always seems to be synonymous with "see how much money we can wring out of consumers for the good power-ups," too.
Pass.

Funnily enough, the EXE Series would have been effective for your idea.
Makes me glad Capcom released the Zero Collection for the DS to relive the qualities that made the games what they are (and should be).

Obviously indifferent on this one. I don't consider iOS games a slap in the face at this point as Capcom has been going for cheap cash-ins on that platform for a good while now.

I was always interested in the idea of the different timelines, which means that I am interested. Pity it's only an iOS game since I don't have that type of phone :/.

Do not forget that the same happened with EXE, ZX and Starforce. Everyone called them shit until they played them. I'm sure this will be a good game and a worthy one for the name Mega Man. Plus, Capcom never made a really, utterly bad Mega Man game, right? Every one of their own, original games had at least good gameplay. And honestly, Nu-Mega Man looks kinda cool on the pictures. The reason people thought the games were shit was because they had big changes in game mechanic, backstory, characters, etc. From what I'm seeing in the screenshots, they're keeping the 2D side-scrolling in the game and bringing back old enemies from past megaman games, so it might not be so different from other games. Although the graphics could use some work Problem is, this is a CROSSOVER. How everything from the megaman universe is supposed to be condensed into an iOS game is beyond me. This sounds more like something that should be based on a console game, not something like iOS! But hey, this could be turn out to be a good game (as long as the controls are responsive and gameplay is decent). I just don't like the idea of this being an iOS game.At all. It could turn into a disaster. :20:

I actually think this is a great idea. The only problem would be the controls. MegaMan X's controls for the iPhone were terrible. I couldn't dash jump from a wall with ease at all...

I don't care so much about iOS as I do about the concept of a Mega Man social RPG. I haven't seen a single social RPG that wasn't just a big ploy to milk cash out of the players.

Except in this case, Xover is branded explicitly as a Social RPG (while the iOS port of X remains an Action Game).

I don't understand this hate about MMXiOS controls... I had no problem completing the game... BrawlingSakura, I think you aren't manly enough for the game. I don't need manliness to beat the game. Just because I hated the controls it doesn't mean that I didn't beat the game. I even beat it in it's most difficult difficulty section. And before you ask, I didn't buy any of those stupid Pay-To-Win enhancements at all. I don't care so much about iOS as I do about the concept of a Mega Man social RPG. I haven't seen a single social RPG that wasn't just a big ploy to milk cash out of the players. Do the Persona games count as Social RPGs? Technically not, except for those cellphone Persona games. They made Persona 3 Social AND THEN Persona 4 Social. I can't believe Atlus had the never. It was basically a re-skinned game from what I've read. But I'm digressing. I just wanted an excuse to talk about Persona being a Social RPG.

Square Enix made a full-blown 3D, PS2-era like RPG for the iOS. Or hell, what about Infinity Blade, the Unreal Engine 3 game? The iOS is very capable of having real games on it. What a great point. Except ... | Chaos Rings II: A Square-Enix PS2-era like RPG for iOS (I'm assuming*?) |
| Infinity Blade, the Unreal Engine 3 game |
| Rockman XOver |
Whether iOS is capable of awesome scale games is irrelevant. Rockman XOver looks like a shitty Flash game. If you're defending iOS, that's fine, I guess. But if you're seriously trying to defend Rockman XOver based on those examples, I'm afraid that's just not going to cut it. I don't really have much of an opinion myself, other than “Wow, that looks like a terrible game, based on those four screenshots we got to see,” or “Man, what a waste of an epic concept.” Maybe they'll make something cool out of it, but thus far I can't say I'm impressed. * - I just searched for any Squeenix RPGs on iPhone; it was one of the first that came up. Looks OK, I guess**. ** - I've never played a PS2-era RPG.

it looks like crap, honestly i dont even like the idea of Crossovers unless its for the purposes of a fighting game. trying to create a 'story' with something like that is dumb to me, but in a fighting game scenario where the characters 'power' outside the game doesnt really matter is great to me. this isnt an action game (look at autoplay and lack of movement controls) im pretty sure its going to be like castle age with more 'eleborate' action sequences...which you can skip (because they probably get boring after you grind them).
so for this game i give "Characters" 5/10, Story 2/10, Gameplay ?/10, Graphics 2/10, Idea and Originality 2/10

It just feels like a cheap cash grab to me. Most of their iOS stuff has been pretty lame, so it's tough to give them the benefit of the doubt.
