Except you just proved that you have been judging it for being not what you expected. You and many others have been stubborn with the idea that the iOS is a bad platform to put games on, yet you explicitly state that you expected a quality release on it?
And my mistake with the soundtracks; messed up when reading the tracklists, so disregard that.

The only thing they DIDN'T recreate was the card/upgrade system, which is obviously what the developers put the most effort into, so this "fan" game is pretty pointless, imo.
And, surprisingly, I actually enjoyed playing it. Don't know what that says about me...
As for the boss battle... I guess everybody forgot that with RPG's... There is no way to dodge attacks without equipping some kind of "agility" buff or something, and even then it's randomized. It's an rpg, guys. It's an RPG. But I guess Megaman fans don't play RPG's...??
Edit: Also, it's not like they did any real work. They didn't have to do any of the art. All they did was plug in a few commands into a Flash editor. That's not even real programming. I could create a simple Megaman X engine in Gamemaker just as quickly and easily as they created this.

I'd be right with you if it weren't for the fact that this so-called fan-game isn't actually a parody; it's a re-creation of a demo that Capcom themselves released for the public to enjoy. It's not even mockery; it's a 1-to-1 replication. (Or at least, very close to 1-to-1.) If it's a pointless fan-game, fine, but it was a pointless official demo first— and that's the point in the first place. EDIT-O: Edit: Also, it's not like they did any real work. They didn't have to do any of the art. All they did was plug in a few commands into a Flash editor. That's not even real programming. I could create a simple Megaman X engine in Gamemaker just as quickly and easily as they created this. Again, this is the point of the game: to show how effortless it was to make the official demo that Capcom hoped would impress fans. Something to keep in mind is that Capcom reused their own resources as well (from an attempt at making an actual platformer). All the stage baddies, and the boss were cut and pasted from last year's iOS MegaMan X game. I'm pretty sure only OVER-1 is actually new, and the guys who made this fangame probably had to draw and animate him by themselves too.
As for the boss battle... I guess everybody forgot that with RPG's... There is no way to dodge attacks without equipping some kind of "agility" buff or something, and even then it's randomized. It's an rpg, guys. It's an RPG. But I guess Megaman fans don't play RPG's...?? Not unless they're called MegaMan Battle Network or MegaMan Star Force, both of which managed to be RPG with an innovative, realtime battle system, and absolutely no auto-play. (Unless you used two many Dark Chips... :22:) Even if you do use the “It's an RPG” excuse, there are tons more RPG mechanics that could've been included in that demo (relatively easily) to make it a more satisfying experience than just OVER-1 and Storm Eagle taking turns blasting each other— like, you know, some kind of strategy? As it stands, the only two options are charged shot and uncharged shot, with no apparent reason to ever not use a charged shot. The demo we've seen is literally “Press This Button to WIN” gameplay. (Or, “Press This Button to WIN a little more slowly..”) In other words, it's not game play at all. It's not gameplay even before you consider the Autoplay and Skip functions. They have some time to make this a relatively decent RPG— don't get me wrong —but based on what we have now, there's not much to suggest it will be one.

You and many others have been stubborn with the idea that the iOS is a bad platform to put games on, yet you explicitly state that you expected a quality release on it? The iOS can be a capable device, though. I'm not against it like others are. It's just that from what I've seen from Capcom and a few other companies, they use their mobile divisions for what appear to be low effort and/or quality cash grabs. The fact that the iOS game is reusing sprites from the X1 iOS title isn't exactly helping its cause. I could give it a better chance if games like Rush Marine hadn't already been released on the device or if the gameplay held up. It's looking grim, and it's kind of a "prove that this isn't a bad title" game to me. So far, they haven't done that.

Oh, okay. I thought this was about the game itself, not the demo. I must have skimmed over that part. Carry on. As far as this is concerned: My. Point. Ex. Act. Ly. Edit: I guess I'm showing my age, but I remember the days when making a basic Megaman engine in Game Maker was an impressive feat, lol. I really want to HATE this game with a passion... but, no matter what my mind says, my heart genuinely enjoyed playing through that flash game. Maybe I've been playing too much La Mulana, so it just felt refreshing, lol. I still think that this probably isn't a good thing for Megaman, but I was not repulsed by the experience of playing. *shrugs* Edit2: I saw it more as an alpha/proof of concept instead of a demo that makes you say "wow this is awesome!", so yeah, epic fail on Capcom's part in that respect.

The honest truth folks, is that you could make a wonderful Megaman game on iOS, but this obviously is not one. They could have made a simple, fun, faithful to the series Megaman title on phones that we would all enjoy but they didn't. They made this on rails sell out. You can't tell me that this game is what you would want out of a megaman game.
And I'm sorry, but if this is the only game they make for the 25th anniversary it's going to get judged the crap out of it. It's the first Megaman game in 2 years and there is not even a hint of another game being made that would tide us over.
There just is no reason to be happy with Xover.

A title, or THE title? Big difference there, and I'm thinking it's just the former. Thing is, I remember Capcom saying that a game wasn't promised for the anniversary, so unless they surprise us we have no reason to believe that anything else'll be released/announced this December. While I am not saying Xover is a good thing as-is, I am given the impression that the majority is bashing it on the grounds that it is being judged on the same level as the high-end games such as the early X Series. If anything else it's a matter of scope. With 2 games cancelled, people are giving Capcom the evil eye because this is literally the only game in production for the franchise. With Inafune gone and Capcom going corporate in the worst way possible, it's no surprise that people are looking XOver up and down. Right now people are watching to see how much Capcom cares about MM, and with the lack of effort in XOver combined with re-packaged soundtracks, fans aren't happy, and I can't really blame them.

Even for an on-rails game, there have been better on-rails segments in other Mega Man games. Remember Mega Man 8's snowboarding segments? Remember how those actually required skill even though it was pretty much just jump, slide, and shoot?
I wouldn't mind to see a more expansive version of that for smartphones. It'd probably be a lot more rewarding to play through. It's pretty pathetic when Capcom themselves actually created something with somewhat similar mechanics that was actually pretty enjoyable to play some, uh, 12 or 13 years ago.

Yeah exactly. If they actually tried to make a good MM game for iOS it'd be fine, maybe awesome, but there's obviously not alot of effort on this core gameplay. And the turn based boss fight is just so sad.
Now, here's another issue. We know how notorious social games of this nature are when it comes to nickel and diming people, and we know Capcom's penchant for micro-transactions. So the question is do you think they will make you pay for certain upgrades, be able to buy resources, or some other kind of micro-transaction?

Yeah, absolutely. But what would you possibly want to buy for this game?

Yeah, absolutely. But what would you possibly want to buy for this game? the same could be said of any. Skins, upgrades, health pots, exp buffs, "deluxe" weapons/cards/whatever, hair, gloves, shoes, sunglasses, maybe a Data mask, etc. lol

Hey, paisanos! Capcom has recently announced a new type armour for Over-1. The "Legend Armour" will transform Over-1's sprite into something a little more recognizable for you guys. Hope you enjoy it!

Although the game didn't seem so polished in the earlier world stages, I must say that the latest world looked a lot better.
As for the game itself, I can understand why this game would be different as it is an iOS title. I can't really judge for myself on the game as I don't have the means to play it. I do like the designs for Kalinka and OVER-1, though.

...So Classic Mega Man doesn't actually appear in this game as himself. Wow. That's...I...that's...there are no words. This reminds me of how they gave Zero that Mega Man X skin in Marvel vs. Capcom 3. If I were actively following this game I would feel tragically empty.
