HF (and anyone else interested) "I'd say animation literally means as long as it visually moves, even if it's the background, it's okay." Mikéy"I think animation should be either: at least one character is doing something, or significant portions of the background elements are looping." Chiz"GIFs are fine, subtlety's fine, videos are fine, as long as it's drawn and it moves. Or it's CG and it moves. Or it's stop-mo. But live action is off-limits." DasheBasically, everyone has a different definition. Do what you would consider an honest effort and within your means - that, too, will be different for everyone.

9 years, and this is the first time in the hot seat for this thing. No prizes for being late to the party, eh? Welcome to the great Secret Santa art exchange event! Like every year, we collectively demonstrate how poorly our time budgeting skills are, and put this thing at the last minute. Rules are more-or-less the same as the previous years, namely: - IT DOESN'T TAKE AN ARTIST TO MAKE ART! In fact, if you aren't one, it's for the best. In order to level the playing field, we encourage everyone to experiment with their art/skills and try something new. Not only does this make the skill gap less dramatic, but we end up with a greater variety to appreciate than we would otherwise.
- THE ART MUST BE AT LEAST SOMEWHAT VISUAL! Your submissions will be showcased on the main site's banner during the final week of December. This can only happen if your art can be included in the banner. Exceptions will (rarely) be made on a case-by-case basis, but non-visual elements can be added at the participants' whim as long as they are secondary to the visual element.
- REQUESTS MUST BE SHORT! Five words or less, and must keep all the rules in mind.
- THIS IS A CHRISTMAS ART-EVENT, NOT A CHRISTMAS-ART EVENT! Half the planet doesn't celebrate Christmas, half the planet isn't in the middle of a horrible winter, and more than half the planet doesn't get snow at New Years. Your requests do not need to be centred around the holidays, but they can be if you want.
- NO CROSSOVERS, NO INSERTS, NO ORIGINAL CHARACTERS! This is about Mega Man Legends art, and should only contain characters that exist in the greater Legends canon (the classic trilogy, MML3, Adventure Tour, the cellphone games, official artbooks). Light/casual references are permitted, however. (A zakobon saying 'Exterminate' is probably okay; Volnutt fighting Cybermen while Roll tries to pilot the TARDIS is definitely not.)
- FAMILY-FRIENDLY ART SUGGESTED! There is no specific rule against including sensitive topics like death, gore, sexual content, and the like in your request and/or submission, but it's generally frowned upon, since it becomes difficult to exhibit the work later. However, if you feel that your request might be interpreted in this way, and you wish to prevent that from happening, add 'NMC' or 'SFW' to your request; this does not add to your word count, and any submissions that break the NMC/SFW tag will not be considered valid.
- GET YOUR SHINY BADGE FLAIR ON! If you participate, you get a badge right below your name. If you participate and do the premium request, you get a shiny gold version of it. This is prime bragging rights material, folks!
- OVERACHIEVERS WANTED! Every year, we have a premium challenge. This year it's animating your submission. Do this, and you get the shiny gold badge as per above. We'll take a variety of animation formats - GIF, APNG, MNG, AVI, MP4, MKV, SWF, some special HTML5+CSS+JS Canvas thing - so don't worry about converting. We'll worry about that. Also, animation can mean a lot of things...flipbooks, flash animation, stopmotion/claymation, a puppet show...
- GOT A DEADBEAT SANTA? NO WORRIES! We archive all requests, and we regularly have "unfulfilled requests" premium badges. You absolutely will eventually get your request filled, it just might get trapped in the North Pole's dead letter office awhile.
- This year's deadline for registering is 23:59:59, Pacific Time, Friday, December 9th. Early Saturday morning, assignments will be randomized and PMed to the participants. You do not need to tell us if you're going for premium this year - just submit the premium or non-premium work when it's done.
- The deadline for submitting your works is 23:59:59, Pacific Time, Friday, December 23rd. This gives you 2 weeks to prepare your item. Items are submitted through PM or email; either via a hyperlink (to a hosted file) or an attachment. Anonymous preview banners will start appear on www.legends-station.com on the 24th.
- All art will be revealed in this thread on December 25th with full credits.
DO IT, PEOPLE. TELL YOUR FRIENDS, YOUR FAMILY, YOUR NEIGHBOURS, YOUR PETS, EVEN YOUR MAILMAN. Anyone with an account can participate. Getting an account is easy. What are you waiting for, you anonymous lurkers? This is your time! REMEMBER: The premium requirement is ANIMATION. You didn't make it on the list? Well, registrations will reopen in about 12 months...

Hey yosup, welcome to MMLS. You've caught us in a bit of a transitional state right now. The bureaucracy is on vacation, so no paperwork processing is happening right now. We can do an emergency manual approval of the most important stuff (membership card, membership dues, and pickaxe rental), but everything else (perks, housing, healthcare, entertainment, right to leave) is indefinitely put on hold. We don't have too many musicians here; the only other person I know of is Dash. Perhaps there's collaborative potential there. The next big event coming is the Secret Santa art event, which will likely start in about 3 months. Until then, you're welcome to get all that paperwork ready for when we can file it properly, perhaps lurk on our Discord channel, and host/attend impromptu game livestreams that may or may not get any traction. Good luck!

Ubisoft is celebrating their 30th anniversary, and is giving away an older title every month through U-Play. If you're already suffering with UPlay because of your, say, Assassin's Creed or Far Cry addiction, then you can pick up a copy of Splinter Cell until the end of the month. There will be a new game available in August. Shadow Warrior has gone free on GOG.com. Ubisoft/U-Play's current free-game (August) is Rayman Origins, a platformer. Next month (September) will be The Crew, an MMO racing game.

Since I have most of teh games already via virtual console, I'm more interested in getting the controller. sounds like a good deal for people that haven't purchased these games off of one of the many online shops Nintendo has already. Definitely seems like a missed opportunity to add some functionality to the device to allow it to connect to a Nintendo account and purchase/download NES games you've already bought on the Wii/WiiU/3DS Virtual Console (or more likely, grant you the opportunity to buy all your NES games again for the 6th time). Maybe it's a mixed blessing, though - this is tantamount to new, physical copies of all of these games with "licenses" that can't be revoked because of the whims of a company or service disruption. I wonder if we'll see Nintendo release more of these - more mini-consoles with a few dozen preloaded games to take advantage of that $20 grandma-buying-kid-plug-and-play-vidjas demographic that's sorely needing some baseline for quality and value. In the last 10 years, we've seen such collections come with games from Sega, Atari, the Intellivision, and Coleco. None of them were game changers in their own right ba-dum-tsh, but I feel like they've forced a rise in the bare minimum of what passes as good value for such devices, since there's something instantly recognizable, readily available, and at an accessible price point.
I also wonder what sort of emulation they're doing. Mapper | Games | (No mapper) | Balloon Fight Donkey Kong Donkey Kong Jr. Excitebike Galaga Ice Climber Mario Bros. Pac-Man Super Mario Bros. | MMC1 | Bubble Bobble Castlevania II Dr. Mario Final Fantasy Kid Icarus Legend of Zelda Mega Man 2 Metroid Ninja Gaiden Tecmo Bowl Zelda II | UNROM | Castlevania Ghosts 'n Goblins | CNROM | Gradius | MMC3 | Double Dragon 2 Kirby's Adventure Super C Super Mario Bros. 2 Super Mario Bros. 3 | MMC6 (MMC3) | StarTropics | MMC2 | Punch-Out! |
In theory, if they're doing general emulation, you might be able to hack the thing to replace the games on the device with most other games that use the same mappers. They're covering the most popular ones (MMC1, MMC3), so that's the majority of the games people would want to play. It's only a bunch of Namco games, Sunsoft games, and all those wonderful bootleg games that will likely be impossible.

It's a true 3D game, so perspective. Perspective (left) vs Orthographic (right) projections On the left, you can see that depth is conveyed how you would expect it to be in the real world; while we can intuitively "tell" the lines that run into the distance are parallel, in the rendered image, they are not, and as such things that are nearby are larger than a similar item far away. On the right, all depth is portrayed with actually parallel lines, and a distant object is exactly as large as an object closer to the camera. This is good for demonstrating architecture, but it is not how people perceive the world, and would be awkward to use in a game that relied on all 3 axes for movement. EDIT: If it comes up, you are going to want 3-point perspective, too; each "point" changes an axis from "parallel" to proportionally sized based on distance from the focal point. 1 point (usually) makes far things small, but both up/down, and left/right, remain parallel. 2-point (usually) keeps up/down as parallel, but near/far and left/right tapers toward the focal points. 3-point makes all 3 (near/far, left/right, and up/down) taper toward their respective focal points. "Orthographic" is effectively "0-point".

We certainly don't want Chiz to have all three of them badges. I'm okay with letting Chiz have all 3 badges. He seems like an upstanding guy who could use a bit more flair in his mini profile.

Welcome to MMLS, kodyfrosterz. This should be the point where I'm directing you toward the Amazon Distribution Warehouse-grade storage facility full of registration paperwork and related documents, but there's a slight problem. Rather embarrassing, but nonetheless - we can only deforest fragile ecosystems so fast to produce the appropriately weighted paper, and with the recent wave of new members coming in, we are running a bit low on materials. By no means does this mean you're somehow exempt from the lovely bureaucratic hell we put everyone else to. It just means your paperwork will be delayed somewhat. Now, while I haven't consulted with Dashe on this, I think it's reasonably safe to say that the late penalties for not submitting the finished paperwork will still apply, despite the fact that you have had no reasonable opportunity to start filing them before said due date - after all, we want to aim for minimal disruption, which means making as few adjustments and exemptions as possible in order to return to the status quo. With that out of the way, I'm happy to tell you that we're on the cusp of a new month, and with a new month comes a lot of new opportunities for... "cultural integration", let's say. Keep your eyes open and your...uhhh...nose to the ground, I guess, for ways to become a little more comfortable and a little more active in the community. The fastest way to become rooted in our neck of the woods is to start digging, and there's a lot of fertile soil below the surface just waiting to be grabbed hold of by...wooden tendrils of...nutrient extraction...? *cough* The point is, don't be a passive observer. Lurking moar does not work here and you will understandably be left dissatisfied if you do. Worse, you really don't want to see the exit paperwork.

Right, so you've finally made an account. Alright. As the family member or* loved one of an existing member, you qualify for the little-known expedited membership. Get to it, or alternatively, get Kyle to do it for you. (Note: He has a history of delegation and subcontracting with poor end results. You may need to babysit him for this task.) * - exclusive or; offer only applies to one or the other, and not to those who are neither or both.

Okay, I've got the first shipment of paperwork behind me for you, wesaker . Welcome to the Megaman Legends Station Forms. We have all sorts of wonderful activities running at the moment. We have an ongoing "chat about inconsequential things" going on on Discord, we've just opened an informal lottery betting on why Kyle has forsaken us, and there are still 4 more days in "Shuffle About Listlessly" Month! Naturally, though, this all takes second precedence to the importance of our inefficient bureaucratic mess and the resultant indentured servitude you'll have the privilege of accidentally subscribing to. It should be noted that, if and when you are assigned to menial labour, that under Dashe 's reign, most of the pro-OSHA bylaws have been repealed, and replaced with policies that trade the 'A' for an 'IT'. This is ideal as our membership have been familiar with the new acronym for years. That being said, I fully encourage you to make the best of your time here, and don't be afraid of investigating opportunities - the most successful and valuable members of our collective are the ones that pursued invitations to enhance their role in the community, and were not satisfied merely lurking in the background looking pretty. The same could be said of all communities, though. If you have any questions, feel free to ask around or ask the moderation team ( Dashe , Mikéy , Buster Cannon , and myself). Most members with more than 200 posts and recently active also have the lay of the land and should be able to point you in the right direction for anything you need. Naturally, all completed paperwork should be submitted to the appropriate authority, which is most often Dashe herself, although in some very antiquated forms fAB and Blyka (especially when it comes to the 'Initiatives for the Arts' documents).

It's not just the PSN rereleases, although that's certainly part of it...DASH and DASH2 were also rereleased on the PSP as discs not that long ago, not to mention being Japanese games, they likely had larger press runs over there in the first place. And then you have the size of the market - Japanese games are really only attractive to Japanese-speaking people, which is limited to the maybe at most 200 million people in Asia that can speak Japanese fluently enough for it to not be an impairment. Meanwhile, English copies of the trilogy can easily be enjoyed by any of the 2.5 billion English-speaking people of the world, with NTSC vs PAL not being at all a concern with most of not-North-America generally accepting that, yes, you're going to need to import a console or two eventually (that being said, PAL copies are generally going to be even more expensive.) Between all of that, and I'm sure a few other reasons, you end up with that massive price disparity. Personally, I see no shame in giving yourself a discount and buying the Japanese PS1 games, or even the Japanese PSP rerelease that had 80% the same files on the disc, if you demand a physical copy.

$50 and about $20 for domestic CanPo from the prairies to ON. On one hand, it's tempting; on the other, $70 could get me 2-3 more video games (or food for a week)...hmmm...
EDIT: on second look at the find-a-fare, the shipping might only be $10, depending on the box used.

...made plans to raid the site from July 20 th-26 thThey constantly make plans to raid. Most of the technically minded members have not only left that site, but left the community as a whole for a variety of reasons (boredom, politics, etc.) I'd even go so far to say the unscrupulous users of Tumblr are more a threat to the average net denizen than the unscrupulous users of 4chan. These can range from sending malicious asks and submissions, to outright hijacking accounts and editing content to be malicious towards viewers. So not at all different from what Tumblr users do to each other on a daily basis. I've already made every precaution I could take [...] deciding to avoid the site entirely for all of July and the first two weeks of August. If 4chan has convinced you (and others) to do this, then this is the single greatest thing they've done since the Scientology raids. I urge anyone who also uses the site to do the same for their safety. Safety, really? I mean, yeah, avoiding the site will do wonders for your outlook on life and your psychological health, but 4chan weren't and aren't the ones that make it so damn toxic to life. I genuinely cannot stand the idea of waging cyber warfare and potentially causing harm to hundreds or even thousands, just for some shits and giggles. I agree on this point, and it's all the more reason to leave Tumblr entirely and never, ever look back.

we can't "filter" those links out www.proboards.com/tos19d,e makes it a violation to filter them out or use any kind of unwanted content scrubber/blocker. 19i,m potentially makes it a violation to even look at the page source code and identify the script like I did. Oddly enough, though, 19f,g makes it a violation to do exactly what they're doing right now by tagging links which they've granted themselves immunity to with 15. Naturally if there's any violation, you also violate 18g which makes it a violation to violate as well as speaking ill about Proboards. 20b potentially makes it a violation to say 'Proboards'. 18,25a allows them to delete everything if we violate anything, which basically means "on a whim" and this point, and 23 says if they delete everything it's not their fault. 1 makes it a violation if you didn't already understand all of this yet agreed with it anyway.
