Hey, cool. I'm digging this, myself. Proboards V5 has been a long time coming and it's long overdue. I'm baffled that people are upset about the change from that clunky old design from 2005. I'm especially glad that we have tag ... tags, so that I can mention users like on Twitter. Relatedly, I'm happy that profiles have been expanded to contain various social networks, like Twitter, Facebook and Youtube-- and we've got a space for Skype accounts too.. So, fun. (I wish they'd kept the icons attached to posts, though..) AJAX thread updating when you use the Quick Reply is nice-- if you use the Quick Reply.. (Wish they had ninja-reply guard like RPM's forums.) And I can't even express how much I love that the Most Recent Posts page has more than 15 Posts now, though I wish the design on that page didn't make everything look like one giant topic. That Participated button is brilliant, too, but I think it could use a more intuitive name. And if you pull up the page on a mobile browser, it's actually usable without zooming in and zooming out and panning all over the place. A lot of good things happened here. There were a few changes that seem to have disappeared that maybe y'all weren't so happy with. I could've sworn the page layout had a fixed max-width earlier, but we seem to be back to fluid. That kind of bugs me, because there's no reason to need text to flow as wide as most screens these days. (Including mine X|) 960 pixels or so does it for me; reading text on my wide-screen laptop is bothersome. But I may be imagining that one (@ fAB ?), and I can always just fix it back with Stylish if I'm not.. Also, did no one else like the left-aligned logos? I thought that was pretty nifty, myself. I dunno. It looked cool. I'm a little annoyed that we have a rich-text editor now in addition to the pure BB Code editor, and that the rich-text mode has basically replaced post previews. (Not least of all because I keep typing BBCode into the Visual editor and have to jump back and forth between editors to fix it.) It works, but it feels bad. Like, posting on Capcom Unity, or something. Kind of wish Proboards had implemented post Drafts, as well, for all those times I could've use one. And it looks like the syntax for a number of tags has changed. And maybe we got rid of some of the old ones. Also sad that individual post titles (not thread titles) have been apparently removed, because I always liked to use those.. Blaah. I'm not sure about the addition of "statuses," but I think that could be fun, because I've been updating mine from time to time even though no one probably saw.. I don't get the point of Following people on here, but ... meh. And Like buttons? Not a fan on Facebook, not a fan on Youtube, not a fan anywhere else, so I'm not a fan here. WHY does everything have to have these things? If I like your post, I'll probably tell you to your face. ... figuratively speaking. ^^; Also, more topics from this board and stories from around the web? Yeah, that is silly, but couldn't be easier to get rid of with CSS, since they gave it its own class. .gravity-related-topics { display: none; } Also, Proboards finally upped the size limit on avatars themselves? Neato, I can disable that part of my custom hax..

It looks like I'm gonna have to get used to this new layout. I would just appreciate it if the login button was always visible like in the old layout. Honestly it looks good, but logging in was a tad frustrating.

Being resistant to change just hurts innovation and progress, and that's terrible for tech development. I, for one, welcome the changes brought by the new version of Proboards.

This is definitely gonna get some getting used to, especially only having the page buttons at the top of the page, but, as HF said, change is always good. Even though I haven't been here long enough to feel much change, hahah. Oh, and it's nice that the page automatically scrolls down to my post after I reply, since I always recheck my posts to see if I made a typo.
Regarding having everything I do out in the open, that's always gonna feel uncomfortable to me. But I reached a point in my life where I kind of had to start getting less private, so I just went with it. I'm not running around naked, but I'm not exactly keeping chains on my door. Just...one...or two. So yeah, feels kind of weird having everything I do here posted, but whatever. Now everyone gets to know that I lick all of the reply buttons when no one's looking.

Okay, this phantom "new message" thing is throwing me off. Whenever I come back to the forum, I always go up there to see what the message is, then remember I don't actually have any new message. I wonder what's got the counting system off-whack...Oh well, I don't mind it. If I use my imagination, it'd be like there's always someone sending me a message saying "Do your best!" It'll get me through harsh times. ... .__.;;

Yeah, I had this issue, too. If your "new message" is being represented by a "1", try clicking on it. That's what I did to fix it.

(You know what I love is how opening the Reply window from the Quick Reply box copies along whatever you were writing. That's handy.)
If you haven't been able to get rid of that phantom PM try going to your general-purpose Proboards account and open your inbox from there. I didn't find anything there, but it got rid of the notification for me. Also, people talking about the avatar thing, just to point out, that was never a Proboards issue. We broke that with the avatar hack, on purpose. Kind of. The avatar hack forced browsers to ignore Proboards' avatar sizes (which couldn't exceed 100 pixels anyway). We never imposed a new size limit after that. We could have, but we never did. (If you ever saw avatars scaling it was probably only to 100 pixels, and it meant the hack wasn't loading.) Proboards increased the "official" limit now, which is cool, and makes the hack obsolete. And even cooler, the way they're implementing it now, the avatars will scale both dimensions appropriately in most browsers, so you don't have to manually calculate the right dimensions if your avatar exceeds the max size like before. But, bottom line Proboards didn't actually "fix" anything, because they never actually broke anything in the first place. #TheMoreYouKnow ☆ミ

I personally like this new forum, it's kind of weird tough, I guess I'll just have to get used to it. Not sure what's the purpose of following each other and liking posts but I've tried it... It's uselessly cool I think. I can't seem to find the grammar check box in the reply window, I mean, it's not like I need it "aniway" so, any misspelling of mine you can blame Proboards. (I can still right click on words for that purpose though... nevermind) No "Back to top" button? what a shame... My right hand's middle finger's gonna hurt from scrolling all of those wall of text posts of yours.

Although: If you haven't been able to get rid of that phantom PM try going to your general-purpose Proboards account and open your inbox from there. I didn't find anything there, but it got rid of the notification for me. This worked! Muchos gracias for the info. Side-note: In case anyone's wondering, if you click the gear icon to the right of each post and click "Select post", you can quote multiple people at once. I'm used to doing that elsewhere, so I'm happy that it's a thing now. XD Man...I used to use ProBoards all the time when I was younger. I hadn't used it in years until now, so seeing all of these shiny new features is making me feel old.

Yep, definitely liking these changes so far. My only real complaint is that this changeover destroyed the formatting on all of my review threads, and I'm too lazy to go back and modify every single one. I like that the visual text editor is so streamlined though, feels good to be able to hit Ctrl+I and get italics instead of having to use the BBCode tags all the time. As Pitch said this does remind me a little too much of trying to post on Capcom Unity, although this easily runs 10x better from what I can tell. Not sure what's the purpose of following each other and liking posts but I've tried it... It's uselessly cool I think. I like the 'like button' (pardon the pun) because it gives you a way to acknowledge a post you agree without feeling the obligation to respond to it. This helps the whole 'five-word-post' rule too since someone can just like a post instead of making a short post that only says "I agree" or something arbitrary like that. A couple of other places I visit have a like button implemented on their forums and the system works pretty well. Only thing weird about this version is that you can like your own posts for whatever reason. If you like giving yourself a high-five in public that's on you. Not too sure about the follow system though. I guess it's like a friend list system; every other forum I've been to with a similar feature (i.e. Megaman Network, SRK, etc.) didn't really have a significant use for it, it's just kinda there.

Hahaha I love me so much ↑
Wow, now that you mention that about the like button I agree with you... oh wait, I'll just hit the like button. (I'm getting used to it XP)
What I've noticed from the configurations of our profiles is that option of blocking members, I wonder if I can block Dashe and fAB and post whatever I want breaking the forum rules and not reading their complains... probably not but if so, I could get real crazy and post "XP" on the mumbo jumbo thread. bwahahahaha!

Not sure how everyone else is displaying it, but I am enjoying the new layouts on dual 1920x1080 displays.
The "Mark Forum as Read" button would be nice to have back though. How about it, Admins?

Okay, what the hell happened to the forum I know and love? Can we go back? Because honestly, I'd rather go back.
I don't like this at all; I don't like the roundness of the theme, I don't like the new tag feature (seriously, this isn't Tumblr or Twitter, this is a message board; nobody needs hashtag bull on a freaking forum), I DEFINITELY do not like this new visual editor, no matter how easy the developers at Proboards thinks it is, I don't like that the Site Map from the old theme is missing, so I can't jump straight to the Legends-Station pages I need to see anymore, I don't like the lack of Terraformer or Emotikobun...
I hate it. I absolutely hate it here now. And the worst part is, I SHOULDN'T be hating it, because this is one of the few remaining forums I go to that actually had some significance to me.
Gah. There is absolutely no image macro I can think of that can properly portray how I'm feeling towards this change and towards Proboards as a whole right now.

@ Buster Cannon Yeah, a bunch of formatting tags have changed syntax, and that's gonna throw a lot of people off. But it's better in the long run, because we got more features out of it. Might be good to use the visual editor/buttons for a while, just to get a feel for the changes. Alignments, links, images, tables, quotes and lists have all changed pretty significantly. I don't like the new tag feature (seriously, this isn't Tumblr or Twitter, this is a message board; nobody needs hashtag bull on a freaking forum), I DEFINITELY do not like this new visual editor, no matter how easy the developers at Proboards thinks it is, I don't like that the Site Map from the old theme is missing, so I can't jump straight to the Legends-Station pages I need to see anymore, I don't like the lack of Terraformer or Emotikobun... I hate it. I absolutely hate it here now. I'm not sure if there are actual tags on posts, and if you want to use hashtags, you could always just do that manually. (I do it all the time.) But the tag tag I was talking about earlier (assuming that's also what you're talking about is more of a mention. It's a quick, easy, consistent way to reference someone by name. Like, when I type @ fatmanjones, it will always refer to you, @ Fatman X. Jones, by whatever username you're sporting at the time. You know, in case you ever change your name or something silly like that. If there actually are hashtags, I haven't seen them. If you're mad at me for pretending to use one in my last post, #ScrewYou. ;P I'm right with you on the visual editor, and the round-ness. The visual editor is actually a friggin iframe of all things. I don't even. RAAAAGH. And round corners can't go out of style fast enough, as far as I'm concerned.. But the last three points (quickmap, Terraformer and EKP; all of which are part of terraformer, actually) will probably be sorted out soon enough. I can't imagine why Proboards V5 would prevent their use all together. It'll probably be easier to manage the hax in the long run. The HTML/CSS code looks a bit friendlier now. (I may be wrong, though. You'd have to ask @ Chiz.)
