If you haven't noticed by now, things look odd around here. This is because Proboards has applied v5 to MMLS. I'm still trying to figure out if I like it or not, or if there's any kind of new features we could actually take advantage of. I'm assuming none of the custom code works (including the advanced news fader, emotikobun plus and ++, advanced sigs, and spoiler tags, just naming stuff off the top of my head).
It looks like they have a badge function that seems to have very little to do with the badge system we have in place now. Bear with me while I figure out what's what. (Poker Face Emotikobun)

It also doesn't seem to support the code for your avatar or sig. PMs have been upgraded though. No more massive quote blocks there, so even if the whole thing is a fiasco otherwise, at least there's one major plus.
This 'Stories from around the web' thing though...I really hope there's a way to turn that off.

Terraformer was cut down in its prime... fAB has decided to spontaneously update without warning, and without much of an opportunity for me to poke around with it on my testbed (which will not be eligible for upgrades for another few days), so EKP, AdvSig, etc are basically not going to function for a few days after Saturday, when I can start looking at how to do things/write Terraformer 2.
Not terribly happy with this, not the least of which being that we're still on PB to begin with, but I'll see what I can do. I have a week off coming up that I can sacrifice getting much needed rest and relaxation to work on this.

Every forum using the engine was automatically updated. I checked. That's why there was so little warning for us.

Look on the bright side, everyone. It's a helluva lot easier to navigate now than it was a few hours ago.

Proboards fAB has decided to spontaneously update without warning.
Yeah, sorry about that, Chiz. I didn't give it much thought. When they upgraded us from V3 to V4 it was practically a seamless transition. I expected this one might have a few more bumps, but not quite on this level.

I'm sorry, fAB, but it seems like an appropriate time to link this.

When they upgraded us from V3 to V4 it was practically a seamless transition. Well, you have to remember, the forum was a LOT simpler back then, too.

Oh, good news, avatars actually resize themselves to 150x150 again. Finally.

Yeah... I don't really know what to make of it. I suppose there's potential for niftyiness here and there, but overall, thrusting it upon us without giving us a choice in the matter is lame altogether. Also, I wasn't the only mod who saw the mention of V5's "upgrade early" contest under the admin tab, was I? I suppose that was a bit of a 'warning' of sorts that this was coming, but I didn't think they'd leave us without an option to switch back. How utterly depressing. prntscr.com/q5k2z /me likes this. Also, previewing posts is gone. How extra extra lame.

Better than most YT upgrades, that's for sure. I find a lot of things like my own profile much easier to navigate under this new format. As stated, losing the preview post thing hurts a bit, but I think I can learn to live with it since they still allow you to edit. I was just startled with the suddenness of the change was all.
Edit: And the Visual / BB Code just shows different styles of text on your messages to let you know, Dashe.

Edit: And the Visual / BB Code just shows different styles of text on your messages to let you know, Dashe. Well, yeah. I was just saying that visual makes preview obsolete because they really just do the same thing. We don't even get a full reply window anymore.

Just to clarify, I'm the one who clicked to upgrade slightly earlier than would have happened naturally (the 28th, I think it was).
For what it's worth, I've pretty much killed my day trying to figure out how to customize this monstrosity back to some semblance of what we used to know. @_@ I do think it'll be cooler in the end, once Terraformer and all customization has been taken care of.
I am pissed about the "More topics from this board" and "Stories from around the web" box though, big ugly thing that I don't want and can't seem to turn off...
