What's with that new fangled orange thing on Trigger's back. It wasn't on in MML1. I can't explain it at all!

It's probably a new communaction device so Roll doesn't cut out all the time.

I think it could be one of either one of three things: 1. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that it was a back-pack like object that Capcom added to explain where MM put his items. You know, if he has no pockets where is he going to put all that zenny he collected, not to mention all of the other items he collected? Even though the pack is tiny, it gives Capcom a way of dismissing the old, "Where does he put all that stuff?" question. Most games just explain it by saying the character has really deep pockets, but as I said above, MM has no pockets. 2. As SIMS said, it could possibly be a kind of communication device. This object could be how Roll keeps in contact with MM, and it could also contain some Spotter's equipment so that Roll can monitor what is going on during a dig. Sure, she has stuff on the Flutter but it can't be all that good, especially when it comes to range. In places like Nino where you're... way down under in the deep blue sea ... (don't ask, I have no idea where that came from... yeah, posting late at night is bad for me) and Roll is all the way up in the Flutter at the Nino docks, how would they keep in contact. The Flutter would need some powerful equipment to cut through interference from Ruminoa City, the water, and the ruins and keep up with MM unless Roll had some kind of fancy communications thingy such as the orange thing on MM's back. The item wasn't needed in the old game because the ruins weren't all that deep and Roll could always be nearby, sometimes right next to the ruin. Since this games events transpire in the distant future, the equipment they have could be good enough to get through all the interference, but the backpack could still be used as a receiver for Roll's messages and a transmitter for MM's replies. 3. And now the third, and by far the most brilliant. The orange backpack is nothing more than MM's odd idea of fashion. Hey, you never know... it could be... really... *insert image of MM walking down a stage wearing a fluffy pink scarf along with his digger's armor* Yeah, MM is a fashion expert... (you see what late nights do to me. I need coffee ) Well, there you go, three possibilities. My vote goes for #3... on second thought, #1. Well either way . (yeah... no more late night posting. I'm not mentally stable late at night, and I think it shows).

I'm pretty certain it's a backpack. It would just make sense.

I think it's a parasitic Reaverbot that's burrowed itself a home smack dab in the middle of MegaMan's spine.
...But I could be wrong.

Your right, definetely, with the guilt of killing a fellow Megaman(Juno) he tries to commit suicide between legends 1 and 2. Roll builds the backback to help calm his suicidal threats. the backback controls his brains thoughts, so if she wants him to clean, she uses the backback to make him want to clean. then in one final attempt Megaman goes into the manda ruins and sticks a parasitic reaverbot in the backback, though his attempt failed, Roll no longer has complete control over him.

I figured it was just his backpack that he kept all his stuff in. It had to be somewhere, right? Where was it in the first game? Invisible.

In the first game, there is an dimension gap above his head where he can store items. Really I thought Capcom may have gotton some complaints or just thought of it after Legends 1 was released

I think it's a parasitic Reaverbot that's burrowed itself a home smack dab in the middle of MegaMan's spine. ...But I could be wrong. Then why does he NOT have it when his armor is off? Anyways, just LOOK at it. It's got a freakin' SPEAKER for crying out loud! Does it even look like it opens? I see no possible opening at any sides. That's why I say it's a improved receptor for MegaMan so he can talk with Roll throughout the whole dungeon. If he didn't have it, he wouldn't be talking to Roll five floors down in Nino. Heck, he'd go down 3 floors in the Main Gate and it'd already cut out.

First off, what? Distant future? This is like, 1 year after the first one. How much technological advances could there have been? Second, I agree with SIM (well, on that fact that it isn't a backpack). It is a metalic boxy thing with big screws on the back. What possibly could it hold? Now that we have established what it isn't, I always thought that it was the thing held the water for the fire extinguisher. Just my thoughts.

First off, by distant future I meant compared to us, in our time. We exist, when compared to the Legends universe, a long long time ago. Technology advances a lot over time. Just look at the past 100 years. We've gone from black and white TVs to big huge plasma HDTVs. Considering Legends takes place thousands of years in the future, we don't know how advanced their technology could be. Cutting through the interference could be no problem in their time. That is what I meant by distant future. Time wise, not game wise. Time wise, thousands of years have passed since our time and the legend’s time. I know that only 1 year passed between games. I my not be a genius, but I’m not a (complete) idiot either… .... Whew, alright. I'm better now. Sorry if that sounded a little mean, but my internet crashed while I was writing my first message and I lost it. The experience left me.... well you know . Anyways, I'm pretty sure that it’s a backpack. The Giant screw like thing could be part of a flap thingy which would allow it to open. There is a gray piece going from the screw like object to the top. Still, either way it doesn’t really matter all that much, does it? Fancy futuristic radio, metallic backpack, bizarre fashion sense, or a parasitic reaverbot (Yeah, Data acts innocent, even stupid sometimes, but we know he is just a spy sent by the system…). All in all, it doesn’t really matter, but then again, arguing about such trivial things is kinda fun sometimes

I'm telling you, its a left-over of Megaman attepting suicide. Well, maybe its where he keeps his vacuum cleaner, the floors in the flutter are spotless, and I couldn't find any vacuum. Its most likely an upgrade to his armor that does a lot of things such as, stronger signal reciever, item storage, speaker system.
