Overview
Welcome to the latest installment of Bonne Breakdown! Here we cover the various machinery that the Bonnes use in their battles against the Blue Boy. Today's review covers those aquatic nightmares otherwise known as Zuuf Gelede.
Zuuf Gelede is seen on Lake Jyun, when Megaman is fighting off the bonnes as he heads for the ruins. As would be par for the course in a lake battle, these machines are fully capable of moving both on and under water, popping up unexpectedly and launching attacks at your rather ill-equipped boat.
Speaking of attacks, the Zuuf Gelede has two distinct flavors. The yellow ones fire homing missiles at your boat, and the magenta-colored variety launches torpedoes.
Dealing With It
Taking out these little boats is often a matter of spotting them before they can do any real damage. Both the missiles and torpedoes can be shot before they hit you, sparing you some real hurt. Using the free look to check your surroundings every so often is a great way to avoid getting overwhelmed. That aside, just be sure to knock out the boats in a swift fashion, and you should be okay.
In the area of special weapons, a fast weapon like the Machine Buster is reccomended. While weapons like the Powered Buster are noticeably stronger, the ending lag really hurts you, as you need to be able to take out missiles/torpedoes before they hit you. This is one of those fights that is noticeably more difficult in hard mode due to the HP jump of the enemies.
Coming In For A Landing
The Barcon needed little counterparts to accompany it in the water (like the Marlwolf/Maiberu Haagen combo), and the Zuuf Gelede fills that role. While they do serve that purpose rather well, I never really felt that these things were all that unique or interesting. That may just be because I personally found this part of the game to be rather forced and dull. Zuuf Gelede rates a 4/10 from me.
