Name: Maiberu Haagen HP: 384 (Red), 768 (Yellow) Location: City Hall | |
Overview
Welcome to the 1st installment in the 'Bonne Breakdown' series! This topic is about a mech that really loves brute force, Maiberu Haagen! Maiberu Haagen (MH for short) is found during the mission where you have to save city hall from the Bonne's forces. They are pretty-narrow minded and focus their attacks on important buildings, houses, and other parts of the landscape.
Appearance-wise, the MH are built like small bulldozers, with claws made to strike out at any target within range. In the official artbook, Tiesel notes that these are smaller, mass-produced versions of the Marlwolf. This actually makes a lot of sense, as they share a lot of the same design atributes, give or take a few elements. These robots are deployed by the flying Horunisse (I think I spelled it right), and can actually become a handful if you let them over-populate.
The MH come only with a single attack option, which consists of a rushing punch attack. This is mainly meant for buildings, but they will strike you if you are in between them or their target. As noted before, these mechs are rather simple, and will punch anything in sight that is a part of the city. It's actually rather hilarious to watch these things go crazy on objects like trees and signposts! XD
Dealing With It
You really want to make sure that you don't let these guys wreck any building, particularly City Hall, the Police station, or the bank. Loading them up with a barrage of close-range Splash Mines is a pretty good strategy. Taking out the Horunisse makes the mission that much less stressful, as it's the source of the MH. These guys aren't really too tough, but they can be overwhelming if not dealt with promptly.
Coming In For A Landing Overall, these mechs did a pretty good job at doing their part; abrasively trying to level City Hall. They weren't overly difficult, and also did a good job of opening up for Bon. I give the Maiberu Haagen an 8/10!

I remember battling them recently, and saying "Oh... My gosh... It destroyed that innocent fountain! It will pay! " The battle against the clock is really interesting, you don't have to do it again if you lose, which makes it a lot funner. Overall, a great battle, one of the best in the game, IMO. I agree, 8/10!

So, starting on the minor Bonne mechs, eh? Sweet. Looking forward to the Drache review, as well as some of the other, lesser-known enemies from RMD2.
The enemy design and overall feel of the mission they're part of is good, but I have a bit of trouble when fighting these. Usually, by the end, this mission becomes a search-and-destroy, and sometimes you can't find one until it destroys a building. Despite that, it's still a decent enemy, so I'd give it a 8.5 out of 10.

Lol. I remember my first play through of the game when I was...I think nine years old. I rented it from the blockbusters and when I got to this part, I was a wreck. There was just so much chaos that I couldn't focus on killing the Horunisses that flew overhead making my job even harder. It didn't help that the lock-on function kept on having megaman aim at everything that moved within range! That Kattelox news reporter hated me. Anyway, my rate? 10/10 A game never made me feel like such a failure until this one. Seeing the whole town demolished will do that, and of course there's Roll's, "MISSION COMPLETED?"

I never noticed the Marlwolf connection. Quite interesting. And yeah, these guys have always been a pain for me. I almost always lose at least one building to them because it was on the back side and I didn't notice in time.

It didn't help that the lock-on function kept on having megaman aim at everything that moved within range! Yeah, MML1's lock-on is pretty much terrible. Free Look gives you that much more control over your weapons, and it's a lot easier to take out flying enemies (like Draches).
I never noticed the Marlwolf connection. Quite interesting. Same here; I didn't notice it until fab put up some translated pages from the artbook. I guess the main difference is that these mechs are more geared towards demolition while the Marlwolf is designed more-so for digging. I'm sure the Marlwolf could easily accomplish the former, but yeah.

Cool enemies and nice review. You did call them reaverbots and say that they existed in Lake Jyun Ruins. But yeah they did make a great entrance to Bon Bonne(can you review him too) 8/10. They were tough though.

This battle was one of the most difficult battles in the whole game for me, just because the lock on went insane every time I locked on... T'was very annoying, but it felt awesome when I finally won. Anyway, I think it deserves a 7.5/10 from me because I got so excited when I beat that part of the game, plus (as everyone else said) they did make a terrific entrance to the Bon battle.

5/10 They lost a point for being able to destroy the buildings too quickly even though they take several hits to destroy a lamp post.

While this Bonne machine wasn't that difficult to battle, there were so many of them that kept on attacking. Using the lock-on feature was sometimes a nightmare as the Bonnes were quite merciless when they kept on dropping more and more Maiberu Haagens as I turn my back to protect City Hall especially.
Yet, it's still a fun battle. I'll give it a 7/ 10.

I actually focused on protecting the condos in this mission since they cost the most to repair in the end and are the easiest to defend. The main reason I took one of these guys out most of the time was so that one of the Horunisses would fly away so I could fight better.

for sheer difficulty: 10 for sheer length: 10 for "oh crap not again" factor: 10 for funny mission ned: 1000000000000 Jk: 10
basically this mission was a painstaker, good job developers making us realize we are not godmodders
i loved the fight with Bon but man alive getting to him through this, not so much
however i id like to leave the building ruined as long as possible, so as to have donation fofdder to restore reputation
heck in my thug profile i took out all but one of these guys at each building, waited at the bank, watched it blow took him out, repeat with tation and hall in that order, killed bon you can imagine i aimed for navy armor huh?
my hero profile i imediately began donations though
