Oh crap, without color, those Zakobons look ADORABLE. I'm almost afraid to see that blast make contact with them... *braces for the next page* Anyway, not using two-toned shading wouldn't really bother me. Honestly, I wouldn't know the difference unless they were side by side like that. Speed is nice as long as it doesn't effect the quality by a noticeable amount, and I'm not noticing it, so you're doing fine.

Heh, that's pretty cool, I appreciate the attention to detail you're putting in this. I personally prefer the multi-tone shading as it seems to add some nice depth and as a viewer I don't mind waiting for extra detail; but with that said you're the creator so I say make the comic as you see fit.

@ tominator & Truner: I will still be doing the multi-tone shading, but not keeping it a "rule of thumb" for each and every image. One problem with having too many details on the page is that I find it inhibits focus on the main content of the panel or page. I guess you this is a self-imposed exercise on conservation of detail. @ Mikey: At one point, I might just slip up and give one of them eyelashes. @ Megatuga: I decided on making Rock call out his attacks after hearing him do it in TvC (even if he did not explicitly shout "Rockbuster" in-game, he did shout out attacks like "Charge Buster", "Drill" and "Machinegun"). I partially blame it on his upbringing along with Roll (who is probably a Super Robot fan). I don't want to make Rock the stoic hero type, especially as the Main Diver of the Casquet family. As for calling his weapon the "Rockbuster", japanese translations* let him have it, so I see no reason to not use it. * Specifically: Rockman DASH PSP Manual (page 17) and Rockman DASH 2 PSP Manual (page 09)

And think about it this way. The more pages he does, the better he'll get at it. The better he gets, the faster he'll be able to work, which means the more likely he'll get to a level where he can do the dual-tone shading at the same rate he's been doing the normal shading now.

I've got to say HF, those zakobon are super duper cute. I was expecting them to look terrifying.
Zakobon shoots bomb. Zakobon: Oops I made a dooty. KASHPLODE!

@ Loken: Given a task right when I wake up to keep me busy after breakfast. I like that. Thank you for pointing that out so clearly. You're right; though the irony of cute but dangerous dungeon dwellers is one thing, this isn't what I hoped for. I bet the feeling should be "OH FFFFFFF", and certainly not what you felt. I've got ideas to fix it now. Check back shortly! TO BE CONTINUEDUpdate: JUSTICE!

Meh.. okay then.. I always thought that calling out attacks was more a BattleNetwork/Star Force anime thing... Or Digimon thing. XD

Oh, yes the soulless eyes definitely make them scarier, and they convey that the eyes are supposed to be red alot better too. I'm surprised a comment that said 'oops I made a dooty, KESHPLODE!' could be constructive but I'm glad it helped .

@ Megatuga: Consequently, I admit that it does end up like that. But perhaps a more practical reason for adding shouting of attack names or a variety of battle cries is to liven up the comic as opposed to being silent through the action scenes. Sure, it would work for a character who is defined as being stoic, but that isn't the Rock I want. @ Loken: And with your brilliant blunt statement, I am more than thankful for that. I did a double take on the initial drawing of the Reaverds after changing them into blank eyes, and pinpointed where I went wrong: So yeah... :22:

LOL! That schematic is priceless. Yep, the Pupil and light sheen are what give those cuddly little Zakobons their charm. Do you remember Mort? and also- those Zakobons look ADORABLE. How the heck was I not a part of making you realize that?

Yes I like the new reaverbot eye, that blank stare with the smile is quite creepy. Ah yes, keeping eye on the "big picture" is very important; I completely understand your decision.

@ Mikey: Well it was quite open to both positive and negative interpretation... @ tominator: The idea of switching to pencil drawings crossed my mind once, but I'm only using them for the drafts and designs. @ MegaTuga: Purely for laughs. Or maybe it just feels so pretty, and witty, and well you get the idea. @ Loken: As for why I reacted to 'dooty' so much, you see: Update: The Buster looks powerful now, but it's mostly lighting and emphasis. In case anyone's curious, Rock's shots at this point are red like in-game. Edit: Link fixed.

Minor Update: Following up on a small discussion from last week, I did a couple of drafts for Roll's combat design, consisting of a hard vest and a belt holster. I drew the first one on the train, also included a close-up considering that I should try drafting how Roll looks like:
