(Pre-weekend update test run in progress)
Hello and welcome, everyone! Rockman DASH Legends (RMDL) is a personal project of mine; the main feature is a graphic novel adaptation and expansion of the Rockman DASH (Megaman Legends) series starting with the first game. The basic objective of the project is to create a faithful retelling of the events of the game's time era known as the Halcyon Days, and as an ongoing means of promoting improvement on personal skills including drawing, illustrations, web development, planning, print-work, storytelling, and so forth. As always I am very inviting of any criticism of this project; let it be story, drawing, or even site-related. If you have any questions about the RMDL Project, please feel free to contact me via this thread, PM, or by e-mail (found on the main site). Note 1: Reading format is from right-to-left. If confused with the order of things, please refer to the page numbers (on some pages).* Note 2: Closer to Tuesday evenings in my local time (GMT +08:00). Actual update periods may vary due to real-life circumstances. Follow RMDL updates on Twitter!

It's all good, HF. With comics, you can really swing either way. I've been lurking in your progress thread for modding purposes, and am looking forward to seeing more. Are you going right to left or left to right?

It's all good, HF. With comics, you can really swing either way. Thanks for the feedback, Dashe. That is good to know. I've decided to keep all the comic-relevant content in this thread for now, and would probably amend the first post as it progresses. I am tempted to ask what you mean by "modding purposes". I have decided to go with a right to left reading format. Given its planned length and my inexperience, I have a feeling that I'll be changing design styles at least once halfway (the current method I am using feels very slow, for one). And of course, I am open to suggestions/criticism. Should a mistake be suspected, I would greatly appreciate it being brought up. Thanks in advance, guys.

By "modding purposes," I mean just scanning the posts to make sure they follow the rules. Normally the only ones that really get broken are the five-word minimum one and the double-post one. And the double-post one is moot in your own fan-work thread. As far as suggestions go, another one I've got is to try and update as regularly as possible. It doesn't have to be often, but maintaining a reader base is easiest if the people watching know roughly when they can expect an update. When you pick how often you plan on updating, make sure the length of time is noticeably longer than it actually takes you to finish a page, and if you make multiple pages between updates, update the thread with only your earliest finished page. You will probably be working twice as slowly later on in the story, or longer, and it will benefit you to have extra pages in queue when life and writer's block inevitably get in the way. How long do you plan on this one running, anyway?

And the double-post one is moot in your own fan-work thread. Thank you for your feedback Dashe. So that's what you meant by modding, for a moment I thought it was for something I have gained some infamy for (dang!). That's a very good point. I have not put much thought into a schedule yet as I have been occupied with lots of things in between. Though I am tempted to say "one page a week", I know this will not be justified considering the story-page pacing, and the estimated number of pages. And yes; later pages would more than likely consume a lot of time (though I am not intending all the pages to be colored, so that might save me some time). In the meantime, I hope to use the first ten or so pages to give myself a working estimate of time. Another point you raised is the writer's block. This would probably hit during the less interesting parts of the story; thinking how to present certain events better. Even if the flow of events are done, it won't work without presenting it. In any case, you have given me lots to think about. Thank you again. Without spoiling anything, the story is split into 7 story arcs (excluding the prologue), which themselves consist of a varying number of chapters.

Seven multi-chapter arcs?!?! Dang! You've got to plan in the long-term for sure if you do plan on finishing it. And I hope you do, because nothing beats the satisfaction of finishing a big project like a comic of that length! Here are some more questions you should consider when planning your work flow: - Do you script it out by page, by chapter, by arc, or do you have the entire script done?
- Are you thumbnailing your layouts in chunks by chapter, or thumbnailing a full arc before sketching out the full-res versions?
Naturally, the more you have nailed down early on, the faster the actual pages will go. I don't know how long the arcs or chapters are, but I recommend writing out exactly how many chapters will be in those arcs and writing the script for the entire arc, so you know exactly how many pages will be in each arc. I recommend thumbnailing by chapter, too, but you know your pace and projected project length better than I do. Running a marathon is always easier when you can plot exactly how far you are from the end. In any case, you're very welcome, and I hope this hasn't intimidated you!

And I hope you do, because nothing beats the satisfaction of finishing a big project like a comic of that length! That is quite true, and I would hopefully feel more comfortable with it after establishing a more stable schedule hopefully sometime in late March. I will keep these in mind. As the basic story isn't changed from the game, the only question would be the pacing and some elements which would appeal in a comic but not in game, and so on. These are good points I'll keep in mind. It is just like you described; the story has been broken down into basic details of each chapter with the key amounts of detail. Unless it's a major turning point, I have yet to coordinate how fight scenes will go and exactly how they conclude (and important I don't follow the game too closely either, since it can get boring). Not at all, Dashe. There may be more on my mind now, but I feel more assured as well.

I like how you've re-worded things. Giving it a more serious tone, and using original terminology.

Thanks guys. I like how you've re-worded things. Giving it a more serious tone, and using original terminology. Part of the writing is interpreted from the Japanese version of the game. In the case of storyline changes: I aimed to not be all extreme of everything for a few reason, mainly because it will kill a lot of the charm that makes this series of games so enjoyable, and that it'll be a pain to draw at a good pace at my current level. But at the same time, I would still like to flex that out at certain points in the story (and have already done so as I see fit). As long as I am not causing horrible mood whiplash anyway. :17: As for the terminology in this story, I am working with ways of merging the two (e.g. Rock = Given Name, Megaman = Nickname, etc), but with the Japanese names dominant for how some terms tied in (both explicit and implted) with games earlier in the universal timeline. Minor Update: Taking Dashe's advice, I have decided to plan a more steady schedule soon. To do this, I will be using the first few pages as a benchmark for my overall pace and conclude the days/page as such.

This is really interesting, Hecheff! : ) Can't wait to see what's next- if only for the interpretation and not the familiar plot itself, eh?

Eleven days between pages this time, if you're counting. Not terrible, actually, and the quality makes up for it.
