I wouldn't be too picky about systems- if it's it's coming out exclusive for 3DS, why complain?; it's coming out at all. Beggars can't be choosers, that kind of thing. : o
Also, by no source has the price of the 3DS been confirmed at anything near $350. >_< The closest source for that was the price in yen of the console, and that's generally never held as a staight point-to-point conversion. Heck, it was rumored that the games for the 3DS were also supposedly going to be more expensive too, and the prices in Japan are indeed slightly higher, but revealed US 3DS prices for games are actually still closer to the DS's games.

There are games on the PSN that are priced at $40. Buying a DLC game over $15 isn't unheard of, but it's highly unlikely, yes. My main point was that with the size of the game, it wouldn't be that hard to port the game, at least by a DLC standard. Hell, even a port to the PSP would make me happy.
Also, $350 was just what I first read about. I haven't been keeping up with 3DS news and updates, so the $250-300 range is probably more likely. And my spirit? It died a long time ago, coupled with my distaste towards Nintendo's consoles...lol. Only Nintendo consoles I ever owned were the NES and GC. Their game library was much better (lets not forget the SNES as well). But ever since they released the GBAdvanced and the Wii? I've just lost interest in them.
All I'm saying is that if I can save spending $250-300 on a new shiny toy I'll hardly ever play, I'll take that other alternative. But unfortunately, Capcom is going to force us to buy the 3DS in order to play MML3. That, as a whole, makes ME feel like they've abandoned their core fan-base.

A port to the PSP I would certainly love to see, I was just about to buy a PSP when the MML3 anouncement was made. I don't know how hard it would be to port, but I would buy the PSP version.

There are games on the PSN that are priced at $40. Seriously? Wow. That's actually news to me. How big are these files, though? Because 3DS cartridges have a capacity of 2GB — that sounds pretty big for DLC. o__o; I get what you mean, especially about Nintendo, but there's bound to be more games for 3DS that you'll want to check out eventually. (Like other MegaMan games?) When I bought my PSP it was only really for MegaMan, but then I ended up using that thing a ton. I dunno. I get what you mean though. It's a bit of a bold move for Capcom to release this for a system that no one has yet. Quite bold. But the current gen portables (like PSP, DS) are a bit dated by now, so I'm kind of glad they opted to take this route instead of one of those — or DLC. I'm still not completely sold on the idea that a DLC release would be equivalent to a 3DS one. o__o;

Their core Legends fanbase, I'd presumed, was so desperate to have the game at all that most of them decided they'd buy whatever Legends 3 came out on even before it was announced.

I would say, according to the Devroom members, that Legends 3 sold at least 6000 something 3DS's.

(Edit: Ninja'd again? :37: Perhaps I'd better just quit for now...)
True, we're all trying to save money; that's a valid concern. However, new games in series have been released for new consoles before; that doesn't mean they're abandoning the fanbase. In fact, I can think of a scenario like this that was very similar to ours: consider the case of Mother 3. The game was the sequel to a SNES game, Mother 2 (Earthbound), and was expected to be on the N64. Due to many different kinds of delays, that ended up not happening. 10 or so years later, however, the game finally found new life on the GBA- a handheld. Sound familiar? : o Since then, the series' fanbase has only grown, and yet those who were fans of the SNES original still tend to be around. If that formerly neglected series (and its fanbase!) can withstand such changes, then I can't see why the MML fanbase can't too.

lol Pitch, you can currently get on the PSN and buy full PS3 games. Final Fantasy 7, PS1 Classic, is just over 1gb. PS3 demos are usually 1gb, sometimes almost 2. Having MML3 as a DLC game with only 2gb is definitely something the PS3 can handle, because it's a sexy beast.
And I'm not exactly buying the "there might be more you want" for it deal. I would buy a PSP right now, because it has several great games and more are coming. The only thing I want a DS for right now is for the new Golden Sun game. Not to mention that the 3DS is about the same as the GC, if I'm not mistaken. JMC was saying that it's suppose to be stronger than the Wii, but I definitely have my doubt about that. But even then, I guess it wouldn't be that much of a stretch, seeing as how the Wii is really THAT powerful to begin with. Lastly, a DLC port wouldn't even lose them that much money if most of their sales are coming from the 3DS anyways. I just want them to give us our options, rather than force-feed us the 3DS.
And yes Ms. Dashe, I was one of those people...until I found out it was for the 3DS. The 3DS itself is nothing more than an expensive gimmick. Much like buying a 3D TV or movie ticket. Sure, it's a great experience, but it's not a new concept. Honestly, the PSP would've been a much better choice, but everyone has their preferences.
----- Blues, your post was...funny. NES/SNES/GBA are still in the same family of consoles. The only change was to handheld. Capcom changed to handheld AND a different console. Something like that doesn't sit well in my stomach.

We're not being 'force-fed' having to buy the 3DS anymore than someone is 'force-fed' to buy a certain console to play a console-exclusive game. D : It's not an unheard-of concept, or even a totally unfair one; there's still lots of choice on all sides of the matter.
Edit: Also, games have been switched console before- how about MM classic? From NES to SNES to PS1? MMX? SNES to PS1 to PS2? Megaman games changing consoles isn't a big deal at all.

PSP's floundering with the casual market, and, like it or not, Mega Man Legends isn't a hardcore series. It never was. On top of that, the DS line's extraordinarily stable, and much more suited to the franchise than the PSP (or any other current Sony console, for that matter).

Of course we're being force-fed. If we weren't, we wouldn't have to worry about buying MML3 on the 3DS. But especially if it's 3DS exclusive? We're definitely being force-fed. But I mean, that's just the way I see it, ya know? ^^;
Edit: Good point, Dashe. But as I'm a hardcore gamer myself, it's hard for me to grasp that MML is "casual." >.>

Not to mention the PSP2 is coming, and that Capcom is making a few other games exclusive to the 3DS at this time, so I don't think Capcom is even looking into a PSP port, or a port at all for that matter.

PSP? Really? That thing is so dated now. o__o; I'm glad they didn't go that route
But it's been ten years. I don't think Capcom owes any allegiance to Sony after this long. There's no reason they should have to release Legends 3 for a Sony console because the Legends games were released for a Sony console ten years ago. That's just not how it works. o__o;
EDIT: How did this turn into console wars? I feel like this is my fault. Sorry about that.

(Ninja'd. :21: )@dash: Sure, sure. In that case it's more about the concept of 'console exclusives' you've having a problem with, right? It's a common, accepted industry practice- which is another story entirely. The only reason it would be 'force-feeding' for us (you?), though, is because you're both a fan of MML and not a fan of Nintendo. That's a bit of a personal matter, one that'll require a choice eventually I suppose. No personal offense meant to you, Dash- I hope it's not coming across that way.

No offense at all. I will end up buying the 3DS for sure. Not going to enjoy handing over the cash for it, but I will do it for MML3. And once I've utterly destroyed the game to where I'm completely sick of it, I will take the game out...lay the 3DS on the ground and proceed to F*CKING destroy it to oblivion and back. Pitch, PSP may be dated, but it's still a great system. Much like the PS2. And I don't think Capcom owes Sony anything for MML. But I definitely feel like MML deserves to be on it's "home" system, like it's predecessors. I guess my real fear is that MML3 has the chance of catching the "gay" by switching to a Nintendo console. MML1 doesn't count because it was ported to N64...and MML2 never even made it to N64.
