The premise is simple enough, Capcom doesn't want to spend alot of money on MML3, they are putting it on one system because of some previous experience, and hype for the new system. Porting digital copies is not quite as difficult because of no need to mass produce physical copies, but I doubt Capcom would bother to at all. Look around, do other small fanbase games do multiplat?

They do not...and I can't see why not. It's a great idea, because all you're going to get from the extra consoles (as DLC, anyways) is straight profit.

...Catching the gay? The fact that I liked this game at all, by your standards, probably means it caught the gay waaaay back at its initial release. Not my fault gaming took a sharp turn for the manly once the big bad Xbox strutted onto the scene. Now if you excuse me, I've got a soufflé recipe to memorize and some Glee to catch up on!

That maybe, but I would think that there would be another reason, but I don't really know too much about what would decide these things.

Dashe, you might as well be a gay male. But if we're talking about MML1's original release, then definitely not the case. The first two games were amazing and I think that the PS1 was largely the reason for that. Not simply because I prefer Sony, but because the PS1 gave Capcom more to work with. Though, I never played the N64 version.
As a side-note, the Xbox can go do something with itself, using a very large sexual apparatus that happens to have razor sharp things glued on to it. ^_~
You and me both Loken. Oh well.

The 'Gay'? well this topic is ruined now There are plenty of DS games that are as mature as MML1&2.

I didn't intend that comment to describe the maturity level of a game. >.>

@dash, Loken: Probably the reason is that it'd still cost money to port over, if not in developing costs to make sure it's compatible with all applicable systems then with licencseing and compliance costs too, and internally they're not 100% confident that a game of MML's scale would be worth the extra time and effort even if it was that profitable.
I'm not too knowledgeable about the gaming industry, but from what I've heard from small companies getting thier games approved before those'd be the hoops to jump for digital releases.
(Alright, I'd probably better let this go for now. >_<')

Man, there are seriously times when I wish I were a gay male. I'd definitely be a lot less secretive about personal information and a lot less worried about being stalked/hit on by gamer guys. In fact, it'd more likely be you guys who'd be worried about being hit on by me! So back on topic, and off the console wars, people. We're supposed to be talking about Legends 3 fears and/or reassuring each other that we've got nothing to worry about. :-\ Except, of course, the Legends 3 release causing that alleged apocalypse two Decembers from now.

Pitch, PSP may be dated, but it's still a great system. Much like the PS2. And I don't think Capcom owes Sony anything for MML. But I definitely feel like MML deserves to be on it's "home" system, like it's predecessors. PSP is great, and I would've loved to see Legends 3 on it before I'd heard about 3DS, but I still think 3DS was the better option personally. I don't get the Nintendo hate for MegaMan games, though. Not at all. o__o Blues I don't claim to know anything about games and how they're made, but the fact that they're using the MT Framework for Legends might make things more easy for a cross-platform port, you think? They've got that nice framework that they've used for half a dozen games already that were released for many different consoles. Might help if they wanted to. I don't expect it though. Or have any particular desire for them to do it.

The new guy's is going to have alot to wade through! (Can I call you BMF btw?) Really the plot is the only thing I'm worried about, Capcom could ruin that for sure. *AHEMRE5COUGH*

Loken I'm not so worried about the plot; not yet anyway. We've got a nice setting with an island full of diggers that seems pretty reminiscent of Kattelox. And at least one guaranteed boss battle against the Bonnes. (Which is nice for those who thought the Bonnes wouldn't be villains this time around) It's got pirates, it's got diggers, it's got lots of treasure. With these sorts of elements working for it, a good plot shouldn't be too hard for Capcom to come up with. They're on the right track at least. If we're still at 5%, I guess there's still room for this to get pretty bad, but there's no sense in getting concerned about it yet.

Just as an example, I thought RE5's plot was great until the last 30 minutes, zombies got guns, stealth bomber crashes into volcano, no one dies from it, boss battle in said volcano, Chris punches a bolder out of the way. It's hard to trust Capcom when they pull a plot dump like that. That being said this is a different team, and MML3 looks excellent so far.

Hmm.. Well, I have some of my own fears. I'd rather not talk about them, since it really is way too early, but in the interest of getting back on topic... I'm worried about another hard shift toward the System and less emphasis on running around and digging up treasure for the sake of... running around and digging up treasure. A lot of people disagree with me on that one though. I'd like a plot ratio like in Legends 1, where anything to do with the System is crammed into the very end of the game, but that's just me. ( Loken I think that actually seems a bit like what you described with Resident Evil 5) I guess it's not a fear so much as a passing concern. Thus far there hasn't even been the slightest suggestion of System overload from Capcom. So I'm not worried yet. Call it cautious optimism. I'm afraid of characters being bastardized. Ideally I'd hope that the staff knows how to write the characters we've come to know and love. It has me a bit concerned because as I recall some of the people on-board at Capcom are relatively new to Legends; I just hope they know what they're doing. It's really easy to look at a character and only see a defining cliché, and then write that character so that it becomes that cliché.. I've seen it all too often. Not just in games. In just about everything. And I'm also afraid of having a cast that's too big for its own good. It's too easy to fall into the trap of having too many characters. I wouldn't want to see Legends go the way of Sonic, with a cast that's so damn bloated you don't end up caring about a single one of 'em any more. That's not to say there should be no new characters. We've got a team of diggers incoming, and I think it's long overdue: in a world that depends so heavily on Diggers, you sure don't see many of them in Legends 1 and Legends 2. But I think Legends' cast really shines, and I wouldn't really want to see it go the way of something like Classic, X or Battle Network, where new characters are introduced in each game, and then immediately disregarded in the next one and most often never seen again. ...then again this may be the last game in the series, so there's always that. But there's a problem, eh. Legends 2 suffered quite a bit from a bloated character-pool. No one got enough screen-time and you didn't get to see much of anything really interesting going on with them. But that doesn't mean people don't want to bring those characters back, myself included. Take the old characters, mix in the new ones and already you've got more than they can probably handle. Gotta have new characters; want to have the old ones; but there's only so much room. I'm not sure how they can handle it.

I see your point, let's take a count of characters that arn't really resolved and could be in MML3: Bola, Klaymoor, Glyde, Loathe, Joe, Matilda, Bleuchar, Ira(possibly) Yuna, and Sera
Combined with reoccuring characters: Megaman, Roll, Barrel, Teisel, Tron, and Bon.
And there are going to be new charcters, like Aero who will be important to the plot, not to mention all the side mission NPC's who need fleshing out!
MML3 better be a long game.
