It's nothing too flashy, but I put together a little archive of the pokemon I've EV trained so far, with the trainer card being my personal favorites. Big thanks to Pitch for the shiny Dratini, which has grown up. I highly doubt I'll evolve it into a Dragonite due to the Pukish Green it turns into. It looks much better as that Fuschia color... That's my entire archive for now. I WOULD list nicknames, but that'd make the entire thing look weird. update: added Tropius, Shiftry, and two Swellows. The story behind them is that I actually EV trained one before realizing I should've gotten Brave Bird as an egg move. That doesn't make the first one useless, but it was quite disappointing in my regards. *Mikey used Burn Heal* Tropius is all better. Current number of fully EV trained pokemon looking for a debut: zero Update: 3/14/11 added Aggron, Altaria, Absol, Azumarill, Donphan, and Miltank. I made another Donphan the same time I did Miltank, for a moveset reason. Jeo is still around, but she's not used as often as Joe due to Miltank supporting Joe in my evil plots. :21: Azumarill's set is based off of BC's Inarabitta, and Aggron's set is based off of Pitch's Nora. You guys rock.

I actually EV trained one before realizing I should've gotten Brave Bird as an egg move. That doesn't make the first one useless, but it was quite disappointing in my regards. Been there, man. Well, kind of. Substitute EV training for hours and hours of breeding. Man, it would've been so cool. My Shellder hatchlings had three perfect stats, then I find out that it's missing a key egg move. Ridiculous. :37: And Aggron. One day I'll get back to raising him... Probably because you're using the GIF format. GIF is great for these images, but it does have a pretty big limit on colors. Try using PNG instead; it will give you transparency which is always nice, but it won't limit your colors so much unless you tell it to. I made one of those Trainer-Card dealies, but it's hard to see the point really. (Apart from showcasing my friendcode -- which is only good for another four weeks, anyway. It does have my trainer sprite on it too, which is nice.) What I'd really like is some sort of interactive trainercard that could showcase all my Pokémon and their nicknames, or something. Anyway, in the meanwhile, here's this... That's my go-to team of Pokémon. They've got pretty good coverage between them, and they cover a lot of different roles for my team, which is pretty sweet, really. (Got offensive and defensive Pokémon, and a 50/50 mix of Special and Physical attackers ;D) I've also updated this other little dealy to include my Cloyster, but that's not that impressive. I have two “new” Pokémon I'm going to raise as soon as I get some free time. (Spent hours getting the BP to buy their TMs/Move Tutor moves. :06:) I think I'll try to sneak in Aggron too one of these days. But here's my Pokéarmy in the meantime. Last night was a pretty big night for Pokémon battles. I got in two battles with Mikey and one battle with Trege. Two victories and one loss for me. You can view all of them on the GTS, but I did put up the video of Mikey beating me on Youtube, so there's that too. Thanks to Mikey for providing the tunes this time. Sorry I couldn't think of better puns for the annotations. :07: Pitch vs. Trege: (gts://61-27879-63078) Cloyster wreaks some havoc, then Choice Scarf'd Manectric tears whatever's left to pieces!Pitch vs. Mikey: (gts://66-52221-84626) Mismagius toys with Mikey's Pokémon, abusing Pain Split, then Choice Scarf'd Manectric cleans up and shuts down the threat of Mikey's Swellow! Pitch vs. Mikey: (gts://88-74443-06846) [Youtube]ExperiMENTAL goodness. I attempt to shut Mikey down in a weather battle without my Golduck or Vileplume. I lose in the end, but what a close match! Mikéy Just a phun little thing to note: your Swellow would tear holes in my team if it weren't for my Choice Scarf. I actually came up with the idea for Choice Scarf'd Golduck specifically to deal with Staulmaster's Swellow that abused the same strategy you've got going on here. Those were phun times..

I'm currently doing a DASH (see what I did there <.< to get my team leveled high enough to take on Red before Black & White comes out later this week. By team, I mean all 18 members of it! <.<; Hopefully, I can beat Red somewhere by friday! Then, I can start Team Black.

You can do it! Personally, I had to migrate my level 100 Swampert from LG to be able to even hope to challenge Red. (I neglect HG all together except for my Butterfree.)
Gotta love OHKO Giga Drains from an Overgrow Venusaur.

I guess I'm a little behind of my estimation. Still, my team are now all level 65 and I'll take on Ho-Oh before going all the way to 75 where I believe would be the most appropriate level to take Red on. I could always try 70, but that would be a tad tougher EDIT: Guess what, I just spent like 25 Dusk Balls on Ho-Oh and then I throw 1 single Ultra Ball and it works... curse you, algorithm. Curse yoooooou! Anyhow, back to training.

My Pokéarmy has grown just a little bit more. <3 I finally raised that Aggron I've been meaning to raise for so long. I came so close before, with some kickass offspring with a few perfect IVs by purely random luck. Then I went and messed it up by losing the Egg moves when I tried to breed the offspring together to create super kickass offspring. This time around, I saved the egg moves for last so I wouldn't make that mistake again. And I got my super kickass offspring. Oh yes I did. I also raised yet another Clefable; I sure do love Clefable. He may end up being a giveaway Pokémon later. I want to try to raise another one. I have a couple other giveaway Pokémon that could use some owners too. (At the moment, two Buneary and a Weezing.) Anyway, while I was at it, I raised a Nidoking as well. I'd raised a shiny Nidoking a while back, but I ended up giving him to Mikey. And my in-game team had a Nidoking too — always did like using Nidoking in game. He's been one of my absolute favorite Pokémon since way back in the day. (EDIT: I finally got him his last move today and then I realized he has the wrong ability. 120 BP wasted. FML.) I'm not sure who I want to raise next. Now that Aggron's done, I'm officially out of ideas. It might be a good time to take a break. That or try to cram as much as possible into the next couple weeks, because as soon as I get my 3DS this I've got more than half a dozen other games to play. :37:

Took me a week and a half longer than expected, but I finally finished training my team to level 75. I then took on Red and after a close fight, I emerged victorious! Now, I'm gonna pick up a few extra unlocked in the game and then start Pokémon Black!

All righty! Time for some news! I updated my box-post at the top of the page to include some newbies to my EV gang! I have a battle against Pitch!and a battle against Blues. Unfortunately, the Blues video converted turned out to be upside down (god I hope it never does THAT again), and I'm too lazy to correct it. :01: However, there's a simple trick you can use to view the video rightside up. you press ALT+CTRL+DOWN ARROW to turn your desktop upside down, and the video will look as if it's rightside up. ONCE YOU ARE FINISHED VIEWING, press ALT+CTRL+UP ARROW to return your desktop to the original orientation. So, here's Blues' video. The battle against Pitch was recorded with a ghetto setup to where I don't have to hold the ipod to record with, but I think the quality's worse. I can't tell if I should go with bad quality, or go with my hands shaking the camera if I were to hold it like in Blues' video. Comments, Complaints, Compliments, and all the other C words are welcome. :17:

I actually ran the numbers for Golduck vs. Alakazam, and it turns out there was no way that Surf would've been enough damage to finish him off. I actually hit for above-average damage that time. How disappointing. That Golduck was supposed to be my trump card. I've been using Golduck for ages, but the nature was wrong for a Choice Scarfer. (Timid instead of Modest — a difference of 28 points for Special Attack) And my original Golduck comes from before I ever started raising Pokemans with any consideration for IVs. So I raised a new one with the right nature and a perfect IV in Speed and Special Attack, thinking that would be enough to shut Alakazam down. I guess I was wrong. Of course, I have my answer to Alakazam already, in reserve. And she's just about ready to make a comeback, actually... I'm not sure about the numbers for Arcanine's Flare Blitz versus Donphan, but that was a risky move on my part anyway. :37: I know what I should've done differently though. Ah well.

A vengeful Rematch... But I still had a few tricks up my sleeve apparently. (I expected to lose the fight due to Kwackers and Kangaskhan from the beginning.) Regarding the audio, know that if I have to start putting in music instead of the actual game's audio that - It'll take longer to finish/upload
- The Battle Sound Effects will be gone
- The Video Quality could be affected
Those are the main reasons why I haven't added in custom battle music, but hey. It's important to keep the viewers entertained at the same time right?

I finally caught the Roamers, minus Latios (Latios is the blue one, right?) I think if I were to take the Pitch Challenge on any Pokemon game at all, I'd be playing that game well into my thirties and then some. :06:

That's alright Dashe, you don't have to take the Pitch Challenge if you don't want too. Main reason why I did for the Gen V pokedex was just so I could get more familiar with all of the new species. Good to (passively) hear that the Smeargle helped with the roamers. and yes, Latios is the blue one.

I think if I were to take the Pitch Challenge on any Pokemon game at all, I'd be playing that game well into my thirties and then some. :06: Really? I mean, I tossed in a rule or two just to keep things interesting, but the main point of the Pitch Challenge™ is to: a) prevent any and all forms of hacking, and b) avoid filling the Pokédex by getting all your Pokémon from someone else. It's mostly just to keep things phun, without being cheap. (Of course, that's intended to prolong playtime a bit. It's been more than a year and I still haven't gotten all 493. But hey.) Cheating ruined a lot of games for me as a kid. Just about the only way I know to keep games interesting and phun is to play with arbitrary rules to provide some form of a challenge. That's what the developers intended; at least, that's what I myself would intend if I were a developer. (EDIT: Wow, that was poorly worded. The developers intended for it to be challenging I mean; not for people to make up arbitrary rules to keep things interesting) Mikéy I have only one more possible trick left up my sleeve for Golduck. I think she's pretty much successfully been countered now that you've got a Scarfer on your team. (even though I can still outspeed you with Modest Golduck.) I think I put a bit too much stock in her; as a Choice Scarfer she should be playing more of a clean-up role rather than trying to play her directly against your team in head-to-head (head-to-bill?) combat. I was pretty surprised I couldn't take you down even with Kangaskhan returning to my team from her stroll in the Pokéwalker. Kangaskhan is like my star Pokémon: her vicious STAB Returns tear through everything she outspeeds and for anything she doesn't, she's got Fake Out and Sucker Punch. I've really gotta quit messing around. Next time we have a rematch I'm gonna bring my best stuff to the table. I have some ideas for more Pokémon to raise, but for the time being I'm pretty occupied with Black Version for the moment. Ah well.

Oh, well if it's just an anti-hacking thing then I've probably been doing it the whole time anyway without realizing it. I've never used any cheats on a game in my life, which is probably why I'm so awful at most of them. Plus, I don't know how to use them in the first place, except for the kind where you input secret codes at the title screen or something like that. The only game where I did get 100% of the Pokemon in the Pokedex was Blue, and that was just counting the original 150, not Mew. Does it still count if you lose interest before you even get half the National Dex? (Yes, Sapphire, I'm looking at you.)

Oh, well if it's just an anti-hacking thing then I've probably been doing it the whole time anyway without realizing it. For the most part that's all it is. There's also the rule about obtaining as many Pokémon as you can without trading. I put in rules about traded Pokémon, but those are mostly due to the advent of online trading. Online trading is incredibly convenient but it also makes obtaining Pokémon incredibly simple. They even have whole boards dedicated to that on GameFAQs. That's also where the rule about knowing the person you're trading with comes in. What's anything worth if you can get it from any random person online? Not a bloody awful lot; but again, that only applies to online trading. (I'd go as far as to say the trading rules don't apply pre-Gen IV, or offline — if you're getting Pokémon from real-life friends, you're doing it right.) So yeah, I'd say any completed Pokédex without hax before D/P/Pt/HG/SS would pass the Pitch Challenge™. All that leaves are the two optional rules: for fair trades and for obtaining Pokémon as soon as possible, and those are mostly just to keep things interesting. The fair trading rule is an over-reaching extension of the trading rules, just to keep things interesting. Trading junk Pokémon for valuable Pokémon is not cool. Trading is a cool feature; I think using it cheaply is lame. Keeping it balanced is a cool way to do things, but even then it's not a totally strict rule by any means. It doesn't even necessarily apply to every trade, so long as things are generally even in the long run. (e.g., Mikey set me up with nearly two dozen Pokémon, in exchange for which I gave him two shiny Pokémon) And the rule about obtaining Pokémon as soon as possible only really serves to make the main game more interesting. ( And it makes me feel like Blue! ;D) Backtracking for Poké,mon after rushing through the main game is incredibly tedious, and it's really easy to lose interest halfway through. Also capturing at the end of the game is a lot easier, so there's a bit more challenge involved in getting your Pokémon as soon as possible. But it's not really one of my legitimacy rules.
