I've beaten the game, so party levels don't really matter. I might've mentioned this multiple times throughout the thread, but Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Heartgold, and Soulsilver all have a level 100 battle option in the wi-fi lobby. Meaning, if you activate this option and battle somebody with it, all of your pokemon will be set to level 100 for that battle. Meaning: base levels don't matter! And as far as our "default MMLS" battle rules go, they're the following. - Pokemon are required to be in the UnderUsed tier or lower unless discussed otherwise
- No two pokemon of the same species on the same team
- Moves Double Team / Minimize and hold items Brightpowder / Lax Incense are not allowed
- Sleep Clause is always in effect
- No Fissure, Guillotine, Sheer Cold, or Horn Drill
That's generally all there is. Feel free to go all out with items otherwise. If you want to use pokemon found in the Overused or Borderline tiers, just let the opponent know beforehand, eh? (You don't have to reveal what pokemon you'll use, just let them know the tier the pokemon's in.) That'll allow them to adjust their party accordingly. Savvy? Legendaries are typically NEVER allowed, and even if they were, my Darkrai would kick the fudge out of just about anything.

So... I can pretty much bring in a Pikachu and a Glacion with items to boost ice and lighting based moves?
(Pikachu will always remain as my number 1 pokémon)

Essentially, yes. Anything not covered by those rules is allowed. I used to battle with a Pikachu. Kinda strayed away from it though... Volt Tackle recoil got rather unattractive. I probably ought to try raising a Nasty Plotachu... I'm pretty sure it's going to become my signature move someday. Anyway, enough yacking. You've got training to do.

Rawr. Mikeyman Volnutt used a Revive on Pokemon HeartGold & SoulSilver! So, Generation IV Pokemon's seemed to have been a bit dormant in discussion (Since I had to give this thread a boost from the second page...), except for the occasional Battle Tower Misadventures that befall me and Pitch, which we discuss, laugh, and talk about. - Brightpowder Trollz (I'm looking at YOU, Magmar!)
- Weavile. Oh dear god, Weavile.
- Garchomp!
- Other things I forgot~
etc. But, I managed to do something interesting and get to Battle 49 without meeting a Garchomp along the way. Bastard's probably more than capable of ripping through my team... Dragon Claw my Dragonite, Earthquake my Metagross, and just outright have his way with Blissey... *shudder* But now that I'm mentioning it out loud, it's probably a problem that will soon be resolved. But oddly enough, my team's actually more than capable of taking apart Palmer... slowly, mind you, but wow. :12: The last two minutes of the video would be me showing the gold print (which is actually kinda hard to tell that it actually is gold... Huh.), the items/movesets of the pokemon used, and their "Great Ability Ribbons". I was hoping for something flashier, but I suppose it'll do. I only wish I could let more of my NU/UU pokemon get Great Ability Ribbons, but that won't be happening anytime soon. Sep 6, 2012 at 12:05am
... Mikeyman Volnutt used a Revive on Pokemon HeartGold & SoulSilver AGAIN!Okay, so after... how long was it? 2 or 3 months? That me and Dashe battled for the second time, I finally uploaded the video for viewing pleasure here. Although it might seem to be blurrier than past videos, it was actually EASIER for me to record it this way with my iPod Touch (and not requiring Scotch Tape!), whereas I had previously been using my iPod Nano. Sooo yeah. Discussion's open. I had to rescue this thread from the middle of the second page. Again.

Believe it or not I still haven't found the motivation to go up Mt. Silver and beat Red. Or catch Ho-Oh. I'm pretty sure that's all I've got left to do.

Hello trainers! I'm not sure how many of you may be aware of this, but Nintendo will be ceasing its Wi-Fi connectivity for Nintendo DS and Wii as of May 20th. I meant to mention this sooner, but life... yeah. Less than two weeks from now online battling with 4th and 5th gen games will no longer be a thing. Sadly for me it's something I always meant to get into in a big way but never did. My battle with Mikéy remains my one and only online competitive experience to date... As always, I'm not exactly swimming in spare time, but it's now or never so I want to try and get at least a few matches in while I still can. I know everyone's into X and Y these days, and presently jumping up and down about the Hoenn remakes, but if anyone still fancies an old-time 4th gen battle, do let me know here and we can try to arrange it. I doubt I'll present much of a challenge to anyone who knows what they're doing, but that's a separate issue.

If I can remember how to get the stupid thing to work, I suck just enough to be able to present a reasonable nonchallenge. I haven't bought a new Pokemon game since SoulSilver anyway.

Wow... That's news to me, and a bit of a blow. I suppose it's probably for the better. The battle-spree was fun while it lasted; which although, I suppose it doesn't have to end there; Gen VI'll likely still have online battling services, but that'll bring with it a whole extra slew of problems. Oh well; I'm just glad a good number of battles between the main gen IV battlers of MMLS are recorded for posterity. Battling died down after a good month or so.

A reasonable nonchallenge sounds like a good place to start, Dashe. I'll see if I can make it on iScribble tonight, if you're available. Yeah, 2/3DS should be fine for a good long while, Mikéy. Not that I know anything about that. You still up for that rematch we talked about so long ago?

Yeah, I'm usually on iScribble. The trick would be whether or not I can get the DS to work with the Wi-Fi connection.

I haven't played around with my network settings in awhile, but I can probably make something happen if we plan on it. I'm always up for it. Just give me some notice.
Mkay, so we've decided that if there's enough willing participants for the sake of Pokemon Generation IV's last week of internet play (specifically two or more), there will be a pseudo iScribble session for chatting purposes. Keep an eye out in the evenings for those this week.

During the week I have a lot of work-related things to attend to in the evenings, most notably waking up early the next morning, so I'm really just good for Friday-Sunday. But I do want to do the battle frontier.

The Wi-Fi is dead (I think). Long live the Wi-Fi. This'd normally be about the time where I'll admit to missing Mario Kart DS more than Pokemon, but that'd be like walking into an N.W.A fanclub meeting and praising the establishment.

Aww... I was so busy followed by so tired last night that I never made it to iScribble. Was planning on getting one or two final battles tonight, but I guess the cutoff meant on May 20th rather than after May 20th, and is figured by Japan time. Bummer...
Well, Dashe, Mikey, Pitch, my thanks for the fun times and frustration alike. XD
