Yeah, I think it's embarrasing to have the word SPAM WARNING if and when I'd get modded. And when I don't get it, I think it's annoying, having to read it all the time. (Hey, this is the Internet. It's going to happen a lot.)
Instead, why not just hit the Quote button, copy, and paste it into a PM? That might work better.
Like I said, I'm trying to make the place better. It just come out wrong some times.

And here is my little rant... yeah, I probably should have posted this yesterday, but I was busy writing something else, and after that I began to work on a little story of mine. SIMS is starting to make some more sense now, so this subject may be coming to an end, but either way here is my opinion on the matter... ____________________________________________ Well, quite frankly I don’t see where all this, “fab is too strict” talk comes from. Maybe it’s because I’m a young member, but I personally have never seen fab as a strict tyrant like some.
The SPAM rules aren’t all that absurd. If you can’t say more than four words that are related to the current topic, why are you posting? Most ideas can’t be conveyed in four words, and if someone used less than four words to introduce me I’d feel that they weren’t sincere. Fab is right, having these rules makes things look better and it prevents people from just running around being “post mongers” (people who post randomly for the sole purpose of accumulating posts). That’s me talking, not fab. I think that most SPAMers either can’t think up enough to post, and therefore shouldn’t, or that they’re just trying to gather up a lot of easy posts to make themselves look better.
For example, say we start a thread talking about Juno. Let’s call it “Juno: Master System or Elder System”. Alright, here comes Mr. SPAM poster and he posts a reply reading, “Juno cool” Well, isn’t that just kinda stupid? It certainly doesn’t help further the topic, and therefore is just junk. As for someone with bad grammar, “well. I think jewno is part of the master sestem, cause hey mention having ta tlak to amotherunit. Juhno is the kewlest!”. Well, that’s even worse, no? Don’t even get me started on those who speak leet. If they just misspell a word or two, or forget to capitalize something, nobody, not even fab, will get mad at them. A good reply to this topic would be something like, “Well, Juno is a bit of a mystery. If the ruins are part of the Elder System, and Juno lives in a ruin, does that make him part of the Elder System. His symbol is different and…” and I would go on and on. If you can’t say more than four words, if you can’t bother to try to have some grammar skills, if you can’t even make any sense in your posts, then you’re going to make yourself look bad, the forums look bad, and the staff members look bad.
I’ll admit, sometimes fab’s SPAM warnings can be embarrassing. I’ll give an example. In DuckRiderGlyde’s intro thread, Sailor Scout posted a reply that only read, “Welcome”. Of course, a SPAM warning was placed at the bottom of the message. It can be embarrassing for new members, so maybe the staff could be laxer when it comes to them, but it is more considerate to post a nice welcoming post, not a one word welcome.
Also, some people say that fab is giving the SPAM warned title to too many people, but guess what? There are only between 3 and 5 SPAM warned people. Guess what else? They all deserved it! Also, everyone who has been banned has been banned for just reasons. The staff gives people plenty of chances to change there ways, and they always say stuff like, “I’m sooo sorry, I’ll never do it again. Please forgive me master of MMLS!”. You know what they go and do next? That’s right, they make some more lovely SPAM. It is no wonder fab and co. are so stressed about all this.
Look, SIMS, let the thing go. fab is a good guy, he tries very hard to make this site what it is and if you don’t like it, too bad. I try to take a neutral position in most cases, but as of recent you’ve been a total jerk towards the staff. There is a fine line between having an opinion and having a stubborn hatred. Just please, let it go. I may not like you any more than Feldinaut, but I’d also hate to see you leave. You’re usually a good poster, and you’re often the voice of reason amidst the insanity. Just let the forums exist as fab wants. If you don’t like fab, PM him, don’t harm the forums. In fact, I’d rather you not harm fab either. You posted your complaints in the Hanmuru Doll thread and the Caption thread, hardly places to complain. You also tarnished the name of the Hanmuru. There is a section for complaining called “Comments, Questions, and Complaints”. I know I’m not following my own advice about PMing, but I don’t care right now. I just want to see peace between the two of you, that’s all.
fab is a really nice guy, and right now life isn’t going so well for him. If people try and push fab too far, we may lose both MMLS, and its forums. Let the guy have some rest! Don’t pester him about this and that. If you don’t like the rules, well that’s too bad. The staff here try to make the forums as fun as possible, and its hard work keeping the forums nice, tidy, and under control. I always type out my posts in Microsoft Word before I post them. All I have to do is type them up, use spell check, copy the words, and paste them in the reply box. It isn’t all that hard. All I’m saying is let the guy rest and also put some effort into your posts.
Well, there’s my little rant, hope you had fun. I really don’t want to see MMLS die, and neither does SIMS, at least I don’t think so. All I and the staff asks is for people to put some consideration into their posts, check them over, and be polite. It’ll make you look better and smarter. Now, can we let the forums return to their usual happy place instead of the war zone it has become? SIMS, put down your arguments and live with the rules, and fab, consider letting new members have more chances. I guess that’s all… for now. ____________________________________________ Well, now that I’m done I can only hope that a sort of peace can be reached… well, off I go to do my work… I’m really getting behind *sigh*. (As a side note, I didn't triple post. I just like putting those lines there to make things more organized. I also fixed the "SPAMers can't think up enough to 'pot'" mistake... I can't believe I missed that one)

Wow, I haven't seen a ramble like than since ol' daddy hillcoks got drunk and stepped the latrine! My ears are still ringing... I see you're point G.staff.glyde, and while this fight did get ugly, I'd have to say that they've both retained themselves to certain points. For instance, and in spite of Feldinaut's feelings toward the matter, apparently SIMSteven is still with us, and since he hypothetically didn't break any rules that a token of good judgment on fab's part. Likewise, even though it comes off bad, SIMSteven is really trying to make this a better forum... unfortunately I have the same problem at my work. Two different managing systems under one roof. That is to say the ideals are different, and it hard for one group to just let the other ideal run rampant in the street. I mean it's not like were all going to just walk away with out a greater sense of each other, or just plain hating each other. Now I tend to be one or the other, so if, on some cursed day, you all see that I'm now a guest here, and my account has been deleted then feel free to 'hunt' me down and 'cyber kill' me, because that would just be low, even though in some other situations that would 'so' be me. In any case, addressing the crazy talk from Feldinaut, about mods being humans under all those deity-like powers and superhuman constitutions, I just don't know where to begin. You've obviously never seriously considered what SIMSteven was saying, because if you wanted to come out more as a human then you'd make your compassion more known, for instance if everybody want's somebody to say, you'd start a thread on the premise, this person is three/two/one SPAMS away from being BANNED, somebody do something because were all out of ideas, rather than just having the lot of us show up and suddenly they are no more. And really it would be bad taste to let us all 'say goodbye' but with fair warning for the group then it would be more of a YOU did all YOU could, and they couldn't be helped... Of course SIMSteven might have something to say about it, but in such a scenario I can only imagine that the playa' would go over to MLU and everybody else would just get over it... fab is not mentioned here, because he seems to get more that he's the king of this castle and while it is, arguably, 'good to be king' you have to roll with the punches and take the good with the bad. On a final note for this post, just remember, even though a few of us might come off as fat headed bureaucrats (: , we'll support you in your time of need, but said the blind man to the preacher 'I see.' This is an Internet forum, and not a psychic's one at that. I'm not going to start a lets all be nice to fab thread unless I think he's being mistreated and/or he really needs it. I mean if tomorrow somebody started a 'let's all be nice to BM 1-3' thread I'd get a little crazy , because even if its well meaning, unless I need it that's really an insult to my manliness, among other things . Am I making sense here? (BTW don't worry Feldinaut I still like you and, of course, fab, but my leadership training was somewhat different... and not web oriented... )

Ok, I know I'm a little late, but I still have an opinion on this matter.
First, SIM, this may be a little harsh, but you're kind of a hypocrite. You say that we should be more relaxed and stuff but at MLU (sorry to make comparisons to MLU), you were on a witch hunt for a month or so with Damage. People like that who SPAM constantly and flame people all the time make a forum not fun to be around. If these rules weren't in affect, you would probably be having less fun then you think you "aren't" having right now.
Second, about the whole "staff being higher up" thingie, what evidence do you have of that? More then half of you guys have more posts then me and have been on the boards longer and I respect that. You guys have contributed more to this forum then I have and most people, but do any of the staff members wave their mod functions in your face? No! Like Feldinaut said, we are members just like you. We all started as new members just like you guys. The only exception is fab, but he CREATED this message board. Without him, you couldn't have had all the fun you've been having without him. Without fab's dedication, we wouldn't have the Caption Contest. It's so cool to have a contest on a message board that is acually organized and we're lucky that a guy like fab that organizes it.
Third, the SPAM warning is very efficient. The person who SPAMs is allowed to remove the warning. It's just as embarasing to have a stupid, nonrelevant post than a spam warning. And you say we don't PM the SPAMers, well, WE DO! How about you read the rules in there entirty before you comment on how things are run? There isn't just stuff on how the members should conduct themselves, but how the staff conducts their business.
Anyways, I think we can put this whole behind us if you guys just say you're sorry and let it be. I'm all for having this topic locked and preserved to see what happens when someone has an arguement. Remember, if you have a complaint, PM one of us. We're not gonna bite your heads off if you have a complaint. We're here so the boards are better.

I'm not complaining about the SPAM warnings, I think that they should be a little more... thought through? That is to say just the other day Sailor Scout got a SPAM warning. The interesting thing about her was I was in the process of killing her site over at I'm not compalaining about the SPAM warnings, I think that they should be a little more... thought through? That is to say just the other day Sailor Scout got a SPAM warning. The interesting thing about her was I was in the process of killing her site over at lightangle.proboards26.com/, (which after some recent review hasn't died as completely as i might have hoped... ). She only came over here, I think, because I reminded her of the site, and while her message was entirely deserving of the SPAM warning, you'll notice it's still there because she hasn't been back... Therefore I deduct that even though her message was a well-meaning greeting, it was more deserving of deletion than Modification. It is not my place to say that that's what you SHOULD do, but I'm just saying that's what I probably would have done. The sad fact of the matter is that we have out regulars and we have that sad lot who come in here and post whenever the some 'spirit' possesses them... However, I think what you did was fair, seeing as there was no way you could have known about the particular situation unless I told you, but that's why the SPAM warnings might need some tweaking... I mean that post is really an eyesore now, and even without the SPAM warning the SOLE word still goes against the flow of conversation... And when you say apologize who do you mean?

SPAM posts? On an off-topic note, I have a solution for people who can do nothing but type "yah" into the message box and hit post: 1. Go to Gaia Online.2. Sign up for an account. 3. Go to the Chatterbox Forum 4. SPAM SPAM SPAM. Once you're done and think you can make more intelligent, thoughtful posts outside of making a whole message consisting of either "ok" or "agree," come back here. If not, continue to fester with your own kind and be out of fab's hair. You see, if the above posts were too, oh, lengthy and your attention span is too short, fab's not happy with the behavior of more than a few members. I would say something else but all of it has already been addressed. I hope potential SPAMers follow my advice though; it would make board cleanup marginally easier. I've stopped posting outside of the RP board in MLU for a reason. HINT: It was not the dark blue colors of the forums!

Wow, these posts are too long...err, I mean too short. See, there is a place for those who don't know any words except yes and no. I say that the rules stay the same here, they haven't ever bothered me, and have never stopped me from posting, and as long as your on topic, your not going to get warned unless you continually cuss out other members. If your going to take cheap stabs at someone, take them at me, because I don't care and won't react. But you may get my everlasting hatred

Lots of drama going on here, it reminds me a little of the old DASH board.
Fab, you own this place, just that gives the right to do whatever you want. I know I don't post much but I do come here I few times a week just to look for any MML news.
Well Fab, I see no reason for you to stress about this just keep running your show like you have and screw the complains.
You will get complains if you are strict or if you are too mellow like Super D. Man I gave him lots of complains about that.
You will never make everybody happy so why stress about it?

Hey folks. Sorry I've been (horribly!) neglectful of this thread. There's a lot I need to address in this topic. I don't mean to make it look like I just wanted to spout off my opinion and ignore everyone else's. That's just not cool. I do appreciate your feedback, even if I was initally displeased by the manner in which it was expressed. Through this topic I think both the staff and members were able to present their views in a manner that at least partially satisfied both sides. As unpleasant a topic as this is/was, I think we'll be able to settle and/or address a lot of issues the members have with the MMLS boards through it. (Enough slashes, there? : fab, myself, and the rest of the staff will be looking at the possibility of modifying some of the current rules and guidelines of this board based on some of the concerns members have brought up in and out of this thread. If there's something about the rules that bugs you or you think is unfair that hasn't yet been mentioned, now would be the time to do it. Of course there's always the possibility that your suggestion will be DENIED!, but it's not like we're going to ban you for merely suggesting a rule change.

Look, personally while I think that certain people's ousting might have been a little more public so that we could all try to mend the insanity rather than just here the back-stories we could probably guess anyway.
However that would really be the exception rather than the rules, they don't really need adjusting so much as they can really be like chewing on tinfoil with you people. For instance that new thread on pokemon, that the girl begged you not to lock even though not locking it would have been something of a joke. I could have told her she was a jerk, and told her to finish off one of the other threads before starting another, but... okay, you didn't call her a jerk, but it was almost surreal in the sense of:
'Please don't close my post, in spite of all the problems with it'
'There are too many threads like this, so I'll think I'll lock it anyway *fake smile*'
*fake smile*
I'm not a particular fan of pokemon, but if you really looked at the noticeable features of that thread, then obviously one or two people would post then it would disappear into the mists of obscurity, as so very many have, among them, for the most part, the other pokemon threads. I'm not saying you shouldn't have locked it, I'm saying you should have taken a more 'I'm not trying to hurt your feelings but...' approach as opposed to the many, many other options available...
IF the others feel that you should reform the SPAM rules then address it, because I haven't had a problem with it, and therefore I wouldn't have a clue.

Whoa. Big mistake on my part.
I'm really having a hard time figuring out why I didn't delete that topic and send her a PM, as I have been doing with similar topics as of late. I'm as baffled about that one as you are. Nobody had posted. I just...really have no idea why I didn't just delete it and shut up. My post did have a bit of an attitude about it, didn't it? I don't think that was intentional at the time, but I certainly see it now. (And it's gone now.)
But I'm not sure exactly what you meant in the rest of your post. How were you suggesting I should have handled that? Some way other than what I just said I should have done (delete it)?

Otherwise, I think we've got a lot behind us unless someone has something else to bring up...
