Wow look out a panicking Wojigairon, *(snaps photo Frank West style)*.
Really, whatever the outcome, I feel as though it'll be the best outcome.
I mean, c'mon: With or Without MML3 We're all still MML fans right?
However, we do have something going for us: The fan-involvement in the development. I doubt Capcom would trigger such a move and several events only to scrap the project like a piece of trash.

@ a guy: Well put. Development hell or even outright cancellation, it only 'kills' a game, not the series.

Protodude's been asking about this Eve Woodland. So far, there has been nothing.
Other than that, a flamingo in a blue hawaian shirt has emerged as a joke.

After reading Snow's blog on the 2011 Comic Con, they mentioned a world premiere of a "top AAA game … which we can't announce until Comic Con but it'll be WORTH the wait AND you'll be able to PLAY it yourself!" I hope that means that it's the Prototype SPOILER; or maybe Legends 3 itself. Highly unlikely, yes.I'll keep my fingers crossed that the game is still in production. But if the worst were to happen and Legends 3 were to be cancelled, it won't kill the series or mean that we will now have to stop being fans.

Funny you mention that, seeing as SDCC was where the first real hint of MegaMan Legends 3 was dropped last year. (The “oft-requested MegaMan title” in the works.) Just sayin’. I'm panicking. I don't care what you all do, but I'm panicking. You can say panicking doesn't accomplish anything, but neither does being so damn complacent about everything. Hm, I thought someone would say that. First, read the quote again- 'never a huge source'. That hint was the only MML3 'news' (if you can call it that) to come from SDCC, and it barely counts; 'Thank you' is not an MML3 announcement by any stretch. I still don't understand why some fans are getting upset that MML3/some version of it isn't at Comic-Con despite the fact it was never stated it was supposed to be at SDCC. Also remember that while SDCC may be one of America's biggest 'Cons (hence why many people expect to see MML3 there), it may not necessarily hold that kind of significance to Capcom's management- Japan is a different country with its own big Cons, some of which may hold more significance to them then any 'Con in the U.S. If you're going to rely on MML3's appearance at a Con as a sign it's still going, try going for one in Japan where CoJ is and not one that's not even in the same country as the company's main branch. :17: ...Also, complacency, eh? In my mind, those who are complacent and those who are panicking are achieving the same thing- more-or-less nothing. The most constructive thing to do in regards to MML3 would be to get an accurate, well-researched assessment of the situation and then respond to that information with an appropriate plan of action- something which panicking or staying complacent alone will not accomplish. :22:

'Thank you' is not an MML3 announcement by any stretch. It sure was to everybody here, yourself included, as I recall. ... I still don't understand why some fans are getting upset that MML3/some version of it isn't at Comic-Con despite the fact it was never stated it was supposed to be at SDCC. It's simple, really: people expected something at Comic-Con because Capcom didn't have anything to show at E3 (literally, nothing), the Devroom/etc. has been pretty dead since then, and Comic-Con is the next big venue. It's not just being upset about the lack of a showing at Comic-Con, it's a cumulative thing. You could do what Protodude's doing and be content to wait till the Tokyo Game Show, which is all the way in the middle of September. :17: But, I think if we don't have any idea of the state of the Prototype/etc. by then, the time to start panicking will have long since passed.

It sure was to everybody here, yourself included, as I recall. ... I was cautious-neutral, actually. Recall that that was the summer where everyone was betting on MML3's announcement without a lot of proof months before it happened- I remember a lot of members (you included! :12: ) getting quite irritated by the whole state of affairs. Wasn't that a fun summer? X) Thing is, nothing was promised about MML3/PV at E3 either- the only thing I can recall is those odd posters that weren't confirmed to be from Capcom about E3. It's pretty foolish of anyone to expect some kind of sudden showing to appear from thin air. Guess CoJ doesn't line up with your thinking, or of many U.S. fans apparently. Now why they think as they do is anyone's guess; a lot have pulled it into question lately really... Seems like a safe bet for him, actually- giving everyone a few months to release some steam is fine, and by then we ought to get some kind of update from Capcom. If we don't, then we'll know it's a MMU situation all over again. Regardless, I have...different ways of determining info, so I'll be taking a different direction than Mr. 'Dude in this fandom-wide quest... >_>

Back when that rumor of a bombshell and the “oft-requested MegaMan title” in the works was the only thing you were talking about, I decided to take a neutral position, I didn´t get extremely happy nor skeptical, just waited until the real notice were given, "Too good to be true" was what I thought, still I had hope it were true. Now we face a similar situation, an small movement on CoJ´s frontpage and we feel like the world ended. "Too bad to be true" can fit on the same context. I thought all of us knew that MML3 wouldn´t see the light this or next year, then why expect to see it on a Con.?

To Blues: I won't say I'm complacent about this. But I'm certainly not panicking. However, for someone such as my self, there is not much I can do be be calm and pray. Why? I have responsibilities other than gaming. I'm simply doing what I can, even if it's ineffective.
To Striker: I've never heard the phrase 'too bad to be true'...But I do agree: it does fit!

Honestly, what I'm waiting for is the next Devroom event. If they announce a new event then surely it's not canceled right?

Here's the speculation I've come up with after observing the situation in the past few days:
-The MML3 Development team is currently working on the game. The continued blog posts seem to reflect this, and as far as I know there have been no tweets or comments from staff that would point to the project being cancelled or postponed.
-The rest of Capcom is attempting to shift focus away from Mega Man Legends 3 in order to promote their new, higher budget and more popular titles. E3 was filled with fighting game news, Resident Evil footage, Dragon's Dogma, etc. Showing off Legends 3 right now would be problematic, considering that character redesigns are going down. Thus, the titles that do have footage and are playable are what end up on the show floor.
-Capcom USA is unable to comment on the situation, as they are uncertain of its status. While work is being done on Legends 3, it missed a release date and could still possibly get canned. Their current strategy is to stay silent on it, and promote the other games until further developments are made ready for the public.
All in all, I think it sums up to a situation that relies on the development team to finish up the Prototype Version, resulting in media silence until it gets near completion or is trashed. We can continue showing support for the game, but it's honestly up to the developers here, and Capcom's willingness to let them continue progress. It's not a very comfortable situation to be in, but hopefully it will turn out all right.

I agree with your first two bullet points. I was a little bit panicked yesterday but I realize that I don't really see anything that points to cancellation. I will say the CoJ frontpage removal thing is a bit fishy, but other than that it seems business to usual ya' know?

For all curious parties, here's what Greg had to say on it:
This "and at the discretion of marketing/the dev staff" bit is rather frustrating, since the only way to communicate with either of those parties is through Greg himself.
What we can infer is that Capcom USA is unable to comment on the situation regardless of whether they know the project's status or not, until marketing, the devs, or both put them in the clear to announce something. Whatever the case may be, it might not be a bad idea to work on some fan projects or speculate on the prototype, or generally do something more proactive until the next substantial update in the meantime. As a fandom, we've admittedly become quite dependent on Capcom giving us specific things to focus on over the last year.
