Ah, I thought it was Anno, but for some reason that didn't seem right.
It's kinda phunny because it was the fans' fault the ending was crappy. There was a very limited budget for those last few episodes(as though that wasn't evident by their quality). But hey, a series so action-heavy shouldn't end in the mind of a messed up teenager. And... well yeah, Eva achieved a - heh heh - godlike status among other animes, there was the money. For the fans to be upset was simply natural. I know I sure was. It was just like:
Shinji: "We killed all the angels but I still hate myself..." Everyone: "good god, just shut up!" Shinji: "Ya know, I think I'll try that"
I mean, well yeah sure, there was more to it, a lotta philosophical concepts and all sorts of phun stuff, but yeah. Plus, it didn't really even make much sense. A lotta stuff went unexplained that the movie made up for. The ending kinda ends right at the end(no aftermath or anything), but at least what's left to the imagination can be left to the imagination without crazy speculations that contradict themes in teh anime.

I think the reason they ended the series that way was because there wasn't enough money, like you said, and Anno thought it was more important to resolve Shinji's inner conflicts than it would have been to have a huge battle.
Also, there actually wasn't THAT much fighting compared to most other giant robot shows. In some episodes there was less than two minutes of fighting out of it all.

Maybe, but I LOVE the action it has and it still has a perfect storyline and characters.

My friend has the entire series in DVD. I watched some of it, and it's pretty good. The movie was a little too depressing for my tastes, though.

Neon Genesis is a great anime, except for some vulgar stuff. But it's fun! I enjoy every episode of it! And the "A Thesis of the Cruel Angel" is so, so addicting! But since I'm not finished watching everything, I'll wait until I do so I can read this entire thread.
Oh, and I can't help but say this: ...Rei looks so cute when she blushes!

Yes, it is a great show. And being a fan of Rei, I'm going to say you got taste. And yes, Cruel Angel Thesis is a great song. The show is perfect in every way in my opinion.

Who is this Pitch? I see one of his(her?) posts here, but umm... I seem to remember seeing him(her??) mentioned elsewhere as well. I've seen a few scattered episodes of Evangelion, and from what I understand Shinji is depressed because his mother died a number of years ago. They talk a lot because the show really seems to focus more on the internal thoughts of the pilots and such, much more than the actual action that many attribute its reputation to. I'm not entirely sure about what else happens, but from what I've heard of Evangelion's depth plotwise, I'd much rather take the time to see it myself than spoil it by reading the other five pages of this topic. @_@

A wise choice you have made. It will not dissapoint you. Buy many this is considered to be the greatest anime. I am one of them. The only ones as good I think are Noir and Full Metal Alchemist.
Pitch was a member of the forums who not to long ago deleted his account. He not only was a MML fan but a NGE fan as well. Me and him often argued about Rei Ayanami, in my opinion the best character, in his opinion a emotionless character needed, but heartless. Despite are opinions of great disagreement I think of him as a friend.

There's a new manga called "Neon Genesis Evangelion: Angelic Days"(at least, I think it is new). It's by a different Manga-ka and is about the original cast in a different reality. The beginning is pretty much like the alternate reality that Shinji saw in the final episode of the anime(and manga, I think). Try read it!

I got it so I'lll read it soon. I hope they don't screw up Rei Ayanami's character. Of course even if it does its not like it destroys the original. I also hope she beats up Gendo.

Rebuild of Evangelion Wikipedia articleFor those of you who don't know, the first movie of the Rebuild of Evangelion series has been released in Japan. It is unknown if there will be a dub, but it seems likely if you ask me. I recently went to Anime Los Angeles and Spike Spencer, the voice of Shinji, said that he heard about the movies and is awaiting who is willing to publish it in English. He said that once we find out who that publisher is, he wants the fans to mass e-mail those publishers to get the original voice-actors to do the voices of their respective characters!

Freaking sweet!!! i wish i met spike Spencer. The animation we shall not have to worry about, being it was aweome in the theatrical trailer. I still wonder if i will like it as much as the original though.

With fresh new animation, new scenes, and thenew Evangelions, I think I'll like this cinema series. I also love the theme song of the movie, " Beautiful World" by none other than Utada Hikaru! I thought Utada Hikaru's "Passion" was awesome, "Beautiful World" takes the cake! "Beautiful World" is now one of my most favorite songs! It sounds a little happier than the story of Evangelion, yet it somehow feels like it fits, especially if I hear it with the trailers.
If you're up for a low quality camera recording, here it is.
