Community Liaison Greg's translated a new blog post from the Japan's Devroom detailing the trials of making SephirAero's 3D model. Probably nothing new for those of you who've been involved in the various 3D MML fangames before ( ), but for anyone else interested in the process it's worth checking out. : ) (Also, on a related note- Kinako's latest daily report is asking for opinions on what the fans think the size of the water ruins (the ones that the Bonnes use their mech in) should be, although she has a few guidelines for members to follow for their response. It's not really an 'event' per se, just a question on the side.)

Have they showed any 3D models off yet? I would like to see what the game is gonna look like.

Ooh, that was nifty. Too bad they don't show the finished product, but the little screenshots are pretty nice. It looks pretty good to me based on what they showed, but I don't think they showed anything that wasn't just a rough model, so I can only imagine what the actual thing looks like! I hope the next installment of this “Heroine Progress Report” (which I just found out about now) comes soon. I'd love to see what some of the stuff in this game is actually going to look like. ∗ adds to mml3 folder ∗

It looks so smooth compared to the old stuff! Man, I wonder how many posts they're going to take up in all with this modeling tutorial...it said her head's going to be next. Do you think they're counting down till Christmas with it?

"Incidentally, in a game such as Mega Man Legends 3 where there’s a need to create a large number of character models, we generally use one base model over and over for the sake of efficiency, altering it as needed for each character."
I chuckled when I read that, especially when thinking of how many times you see the Kattelox models re-used.

I just hope they don't pull a Betheseda and give all the NPC's voices, but only like 4 actors for them all.

This 3d modelling progress report was awesome, i was searching like crazy in google some base model images to learn a bit more about anime proportions, and this ones could be very useful, now i will wait until the next report, modelling heads!
PS: Did you realized they call her Aero every time? they are starting to forget Sephira.

Reading a that report made me happy that I took the infography course this term. I understood the technical terms they were talking about.
Looking good. Can't wait to see the next step!

PS: Did you realized they call her Aero every time? they are starting to forget Sephira. I'm thinking that was Greg's perogative. Before he came onboard, Unity skillfully ignored the whole Sephira vs. Aero issue. First thing he does when he starts is bring it to the forefront and conveniently forget to replace the names in new blogpost translations. If that's the kind of approach our Community Liason is going to take, I'm all for it.

Lol... A box modeling tutorial from a Capcom designer ;D
And thus all my hopes were destroyed of having gorgeous subdiv models for the 3DS :12:
Wow the whole blog is going to turn out being like my old intro to animation class (terrible flashbacks).
Also it's interesting that the face modeling process is different in games than it is for film, I didn't know that. If there's not going to be any deformation (like in the PS1 game, only textures were moving on the face I think) there must not be a need for high details in the facial contours.

What timing. Part 3 is up now. (Or Part 2? How is it I lost count already?) It looks like they haven't quite finished the texturing, so no need to worry about the characters looking as flat as Aero did in the recruitment video.

According to Greg it's part 2. Japan might've had it in three parts. I'm not sure, really, but it's labeled as Part 2 on our side of the pond.

Yayz more mml3 folder stuff. Ack. Twitter is behind on bringing me the updates again. Nice to have it confirmed that progress is still underway for teh heroine model. Not that I had any doubts really. That's just about how I was figuring it was gonna be. Pretty interesting read nonetheless. Pretty cool. Seems like they're on the right track. Maybe soon we'll get to see the existing cast. >.< Not sure if it's at all interesting to anyone else, but here's a link to the same thing on the Japanese devroom. For anyone else who's collecting all these images/etc, they usually tend to have better quality pictures than Capcom Unity. Oh, btw, I'm calling it Part 2 of Part 2. Part 2 being the entire 3DModeling bit, and this being the second part of that part. Remember Part 1 was the initial reveal of the finalized design in November; not the 3D modeling description last month. But they are in fact calling it part 3 in Japan. I think it's still Part 3 here, that's just a poorly titled blog post...

I guess since it's the second update Greg's done, he called it Part 2. And I sure hope we get to see the existing cast. If not soon, then at least before the game's released.
