i mean when you look at the depth of the megaman legends series... its better than most adventure games like tomb raider ever if megaman legends was advertised better im sure it would be considered one of the best games ever from the majority of gamers

;D Welcome to five years ago.
I don't think it was really a question of advertising, given the time Legends came out. At the time, Legends was, I think, the first clean break from the "classic" MegaMan gaming idea - side scrolling action with eight Robot Masters/Mavericks, and it wasn't welcomed by fans of MegaMan/Rockman. Lotsa people said stuff like "That's not MEGAMAN" and stuff like that. Nowadays though, people are more accepting of that type of game with more developed characters and stuff - an example of this is the EXE series which was and still is popular... Legends is just kinda sitting there at the moment waiting for people to show it some love. Were Legends to receive some recognition today - as many people are hoping it will with Namco x Capcom - it would probably do tons better, and hopefully it will.
(Wow, that actually made me sound like I know what I'm talking about....)
It's great that you like it so much that you think that though ;D

Battle Network is okay, but considering the fact that they're now churnin' out like three gamse each year in that series, it's safe to say they're pretty popular... Me thinks it's getting old though. Let's hope Legends doesn't go that route... but first people need to learn to
And Legends "Give Peace \/ a Chance"

I would be one of those people 5 years ago who thought it wasn't a real MegaMan game. But I didn't like Legends 1 that much, or at all when I first played it.
I thought Legends 2 was okay.
Back then I believe there was a coming second generation of fans of video games, like kids, young kids, that really didn't get the story of MML or MML2 fully (me).
Also, my friend told me he did see a Misadventures of Tron Bonne commercial a long time ago when it first came out.

Legends came out way more than 5 years ago. But anyways, I got it like a week after it came out. I had always been a fan for Megaman, and even then I understood the storyline and everything of the original and beginnings of the x series, which btw have SEVERELY SUCKED since x7, which was the first x released for PS2. But anyways, I bought it and started playing and i was INSTANTLY hooked. I looked past the fact it wasn;t traditional megaman and saw alot of similarities, which makes it even more fun. As for thinking it would be ONE of the best games ever, no, it IS the best game ever. It ties with MML2 and Kingdom Hearts. When a PS1 game like that can go against KH in my mind, you know it's gotta be good.

In my opinion, the X series sucked since X5. You should play X8, it's a HUGE improvement over the others. As for the Legends series being under-rated, it is. Battle network seems to be taking over for some reason. BN2 was good, I liked it. Then came BN3, which wasn't bad. BN4, on the other hand, SUCKED! And even worse, I heard BN5 is going to suck too.
The Legends series is ignored by a lot of people. It's probably the funniest series, as well as the most in-depth storyline. The play control and graphics were good too. Lets just hope that in MML3 they wont use cel-shading...

Legends came out way more than 5 years ago. Legends 2, I believe came out in 2000(2005 - 2000 = 5). At least, I seem to remember back then people were starting to wait semi-eagerly for Legends 3(well at least I was)... Five years later, we're still waiting... I actually like the way the graphics look... am I the only one that likes them!?

MML1 for PSX – released in 1998
MML1 for N64 – released in 2000
MML2 for PSX – released in 2000
I’m guessing he may have meant the Nintendo version.
Anyways, the game is underrated. As Pitch pointed out, the two main gripes most people had were graphics and change. MML was released at a time when graphics were first getting truly impressive, so what appeared to be a step backwards annoyed some people (Personally, I think the graphics have a sort of charm to them).
The change thing was also a major point. No longer did MM fight the same old bosses over and over (OMG, it’s Sigma! I so didn’t see that coming!) and pick up weapons from bosses. People went in expecting the same old MM they had seen from the classic series and the X series, so when they found something that deviated from their expectations their first response was to be confused, and then attack. It wasn’t so much the graphics as it was that this game was so different from what people were expecting. MM was traditionally a game where gameplay was far more important than the story. MML tried to change that, and a lot of people didn't quite like that.
Still, as Pitch also pointed out, people would be more accepting of this game. Since it’s now an older game, people wouldn’t hold it to high expectations, or expect it to be like almost every other MM game, and be able to enjoy it simply for what it is. Now if we could just get people to play it.
As for cel-shading, used correctly cel-shading can be quite nice. Wind Waker was beautiful, though it seems a lot of people, especially those who can’t beat it (or haven’t even played it), resort to calling it a stupid childish game and that cel-shading is horrible. Crazy people. Wind Waker certainly wasn’t the best of the series, but it certainly wasn’t bad.

MML3 wouldn't look good with cel-shading. MML series would seem to cartoony compared to what it is now, and they wouldn't look right now many of us. Not saying anything about wind waker, which was a good game, the graphics were nice, but I didn't exactly think it fit the graphics of the old zeldas, but it was right for that game. For cel-shading MML3 would have to change a lot in style, and would we exactly want that, many people like the style of MML.

Megaman Legends considered one of the best games ever? Sorry... but no.
On the G4TechTV boards there's alot of really stupid gamers that have really stupid top 10 video games of all time lists... 98% of the time five of the games came out within the last week. It's sad.

Sorry but, yes. And Pitch, I was talking about Legends 1. Hmm. I think MML3 would look very nice (in my opinion) either in the exact same form 1 and 2 were in, ps1 style, OR, the very advanced, extremely nice Kingdom Hearts style graphics. That would rock my world. Then to have the movies done the same way as KH, omg.

I meant MML two, because that's when the waiting for MML Three started... ;D couldn't agree more about the graphics... I dunno, I like 'em the way they are. I guess they could be better, but eh. Graphics = not the most important part of a game, so I'm happy with them. Grammar error: Legends is[/u] awesome cel shaded. yes I know, but I was talking about Legends two. Once again, after Legends two, people were waiting for Legends three. Maybe some weirdos were waiting for it after Legends one, but...

Legends isn't cel-shaded now. I meant that they shouldn't use cel-sahding and keep the graphics as they are now.
