@ Mikey: The program you saw me use was SAI; I use it for my sketching and basic inking.
@ Dashe: I'll keep that in mind next time! As for the TV/DVD thing, it's one of those anime things where the quality of the original TV broadcast pales in comparison to DVD releases.

Oh, no wonder I didn't understand it!

Update: My lack of practice with close-ups and different faces are showing, but I aim to fix this as it goes. Experiments with shading techniques are still ongoing, but it's a start. So the action is picking up now...

That's about... 7.6 days since the last one! I can kinda see the lack of facial practice, but unless one was being a critic, I don't think they'd really notice it. I only noticed it mostly because of the mouth being open... and the fact that you mentioned it in the first place. XD Otherwise, awesome stuff. Don't be so hard on yourself.

Mikey beat me to it! But I digress, you're doing great. Keeping readers hooked is more related to keeping a consistent schedule than it is to drawing jawdropping faces. You'll improve the more you practice at it anyway. As long as you steer clear of the uncanny valley you should be fine.

@ Mikey: One of the reasons why I decided to draw a comic rather than continue with one-off illustrations is to give myself a scenario to draw all kinds of expressions and situations.
Which is why I respect the constructive criticism given by other members. And the time-keeping, one of my biggest problems, and one I want to improve on.
@ Dashe: The uncanny valley, huh. I think that will work in... 4-KOMA.

Update: This page had me experimenting with some action-oriented effects, as well as a bit more varied perspectives. Once again, my biggest issue is production speed, and I may start trying out new ways to use the tone shading technique. Also, playing with panel (ab)use.

This time it was about 7.2 days since the last. I can definitely see the action effects in the dodging, with all of the lines representing a dynamic shot of the wind playing into the scene, getting "missed by a hair" per say. I wouldn't worry much about production speed. We know it takes quite a bit of time with all of the tracing and producing such spot-on effects like that, so by all means, take your time to make it look good.

Yeah HF take your time with it, your comic your schedule.
This one looks snazzy I like the effects, I honestly can't comment on if they are good or bad becuase I'm a rube. ;D I'll leave that to the pros around here.
I should go draw....
Keep up the great work HF!

Your last two comics are great HF! I've been waiting to see your Indy scene skills since I saw the tutorial ruin! Really nice, and I liked that you had a panel of Roll talking.

Yeah, it really isn't so much about going quickly as it is by making a schedule and sticking to it. Which works both ways, actually, and not just when you're late! If you make three comics in the time you've alloted to make one, then release one and you'll have two in reserve for the next time you are late.

@ All: Thank you for everyone's feedback. Time-wise, my main cause of concern is due to the ongoing Fukushima plants; because I am forbidden from returning to Tokyo to continue my studies, I am forced to move to the Osaka branch to give my parents peace of mind. The big snag is that the Tokyo branch is giving me a very hard time since they want to keep me for whatever reason. And knowing the typical mindset of modern Japan, they don't hold family relations in greater priority. Though the beginning of the comic appears almost identical to the game's events, I would really want to rework the characters a lot more to my own developing style. I guess this bugged me a lot about the past few pages. The difference does not have to be something insane like this (not that it's necessarily a bad thing...?), but I've had my occasional doubts and suspect this to be one of the main causes of 'unnatural' production. Long story short, it's still not as dark as I have hoped, but I hope to edge that direction gradually.

Megaman-er, Rock : o - does appear to be a bit more aware and aggressive here. In the game itself, Rock trips before running down the stairs, but here he immediately jumps away. It's a different type of portrayal for sure; I wonder how that'll affect the plot, though.
At any rate, don't worry too much about time and release too much- if it takes you longer to get out a better comic, I'm sure we'll all understand. : )

Well the dialogue has distinguished itself nicely, apart from that there asn't been too much to depart from. The tutorial ruin is fairly simple. Of course there has been no fighting yet, and you could always cut up Rock's face when he slides on it .

@ Blues: I'm still at a stage where I'm deciding between the way I want to play out the presentation of the comic. I am hoping that the "Tutorial Arc" will give me enough chances to practice and find one I am comfortable with.
As Dashe said, I need not to follow the original designs but go with what achieves the original goal.
@ Truner: It would really help me if I understood your problem better; can you please give me bit more information?
Oh, and what's everyone's opinion of me going with the facial style shown in the previous text link?
