Let's hope that Scisor doesn't get any ideas, I can't imagine get nipped by those pincers of his/hers being pleasant..... The worst-case scenario for me would be if my ghastly pulled a Dino-style welcome every time I take him for a walk.... .. Not much on my end for today. I checked out the Safari Zone near Cianwood, and I managed to clean up house- got a good handful of criters, even an ekans (a steal compared to the Gaming corner..)and a magmar. The whole baiting/mudslinging thing is a little strange, but it does make it easier to catch with those safari balls. That aside, I'm back in Olivine City, grinding for the battle with Jasmine. *EDIT* Jasmine was a pain at first, but get to waste a hyper potion on her weaker roster, and she crumples faster than a bad souffle'. Chuck of a joke- you'd figure the old 'meditating under the waterfall' routine would have done him a bit of good... I suppose he doesn't have to worry about bathing.. Anyhow, to avoid an unnessary doublepost, I'll just put in a quick little spin for today's log. I made quite an impression in Mahogany Town: I captured the Red Gyarados, and forced Team Rocket to leave through the business end of her wrath... Scary creatures, these gyarados..

ravenf6 Wasn't it awesome tag-teamin’ it with Lance, though? <3 Also, IMO never throw bait in the Safari Zone. It's made Pokémon run from me more than it's made them stay. Toss some mud and cross your fingers. — — — Anyways... I got my 16 badges now, and Red is waiting for me at Mt. Silver. I don't think I'm going to go challenge him until I've gathered all the legendaries, gathered all the Gym Leaders’ phone numbers, and battled the more powerful Elite Four. EDIT3: I lied. I beat him already. I had to use a bunch of (Max) Revives, but I still thought it was pretty easy. (two of the Pokémon in my party were just useless HM slaves... >__>) I didn't even have my starter with me; and none of my guys was above LV70.. >.<EDIT3.5: Got my Charmander too — affectionately named BURNERMAN. (his name will stay the same, btw) I'm amazed how effective Dusk Balls are. I've caught three Legendaries with minimal effort already. ( Suicune, Zapdos, Mewtwo) One of them only took one Dusk Ball. ( Suicune) I did use my Master Ball for one more Legendary, following popular recommendation. ( Latios) I kind of regret doing it now; why should I waste my Master Ball on a Pokémon from Generation III? =/ (BTW, if anyone with Heart Gold wants him, he's yours) But on the other hand, I don't see myself using it on any of the Gen I-II Legendaries, anyway. EDIT2: Got my Ho-Oh, too. Took 11 Dusk Balls, though. And a couple do-overs. (all in all something like 50, actually... >.<) Yesterday I won 4,000+ coins playing Voltorb Flip. Then I dropped my DS and the cartridge came out. Yesterday was a crappy day. =/ And, err... yeah. I think that's all I've got for today. EDIT1: Actually, thought I'd toss in one more line. I was disappointed with the Trainer House in Viridian. That used to be so cool, (IIRC you could use it to play against a friend's Pokémon for experience points!) now it's just meh. I wish they'd left that alone.
EDIT4: I also finished things up at the Ruins of Alph. That was pretty interesting; I wish you'd actually get something cool for doing that, though — the items you pick up along the way are nice, though.

( Latios) I kind of regret doing it now; why should I waste my Master Ball on a Pokémon from Generation III Dusk Balls are pretty much your best friend in this game. They pretty much outclass Ultra Balls (then again, what doesn't?) provided you play at night or are in a cave. Quick Balls are pretty solid too; toss one at the start of an encounter and there's a good chance that you'll get an easy catch. The Net Ball was pretty good for Suicune, as situational as that was.
I actually used my Master Ball on Entei; the first roaming Pokemon I caught was Raikou, on whom I used Diglett's Arena Trap ability. Latios went down quickly with a Love Ball (that's what happens you make legendaries with genders, 8x catch rate FTW!). Entei was the only one left, so I figured I might as well use it then.

I really wish there was another method for gaining coins than playing Voltorb Flip. The game itself isn't too bad, but having it as the sole method of coin accrual is just plain annoying. I wish it was like the other games where you could simply purchase the coins and get your prize that way. Porygon's absurd price tag doesn't help much either.
You can still fight a friend's team if you have your Pokewalkers link up. While you don't get EXP for it anymore, you do get Battle Points, which are just as (if not more in some cases) useful.

@green: Ah, Lance. The mightiest of the Elite Four, I remember he gave me one heck of a battle years ago in Blue, but back then, I had the three Legendary Birds at my side... Yeah, between his Dragonite and Alexstrasza (my Red Gyarados), we taught Team Rocket a lesson they'll never forget. So yeah, that was awesome, to say the least. For me, I tend to alternate between mudslinging and baiting in the Safari Zone, it's helped me bag some pretty elusive creatures. Aside from last night's epic buttkicking, I've got three evolutions under my belt: a haunter, feraligator, and a pidgeot . I suppose it's because of the massive grinding I did before hand I thought Chuck a joke after I fought him... Though I'm certain Pyrce(?) won't be so easy . @buster Cannon. The best part of the specialty balls is when you can use Fly outside of battle: it cuts the commute to Azalea Town to nothing. I plan to spend some time gathering apricorns for Kurt (Who doesn't love free stuff?). Dusk balls, hm? Sounds interesting: I do most of my poke-trekking at night, so I 'll definitely pick up a few of those for later...

Ugh, I still don't have SoulSilver. Being broke sucks. All I can do right now is keep crunching what I've got in Pearl, but it's like everyone else at my school has either HeartGold or SoulSilver and somehow has the time to play them and pass their classes. I'll probably buy it for graduation, once the fad's passed, naturally. XD

Today's been a red letter day. I challenged Clair and despite a nasty offense of dragonair, I beat her. The Dragon Shrine was almost as bad, but I spoke to the old man there and passed his test, and with it, a Hive Badge. This was good on top of snagging a scyther and pinsir in the past two bug hunts this week. But all this is nothing. For earlier, I decided to find Ho-h (who built this bell tower ), Those Kimono Girls made Team Rocket look nice, but I beat them all. In the end, it was a short but mighty battle, yet I captured that magnificent bird.. and with all things, an ultra ball! I might save the Master Ball for one of the three dogs (maybe).

Okay, got Soul Silver about a week ago and right now, I am loving it. Reminds me why I was such a huge fan of Pokemon when I was younger.
I have basically flown through the game. I have all the badges from Kanto and Johto and am currently challenging the Elite Four for the second time, but I still need to level up my team.
I even did what is considered the impossible to my friends and caught almost all the legendary Poekmon that appeared so far, even Ho-oh. (ALMOST all, I'm waiting for my Love Balls so I can catch Latios. That guy is too fast. >_<)

I'm envious of everyone's progress so far. But now that school is finished, I should be able to have more time to dedicate to my beloved Pokemon HeartGold. I finally managed to get to the 8th gym, but was defeated by Clair's last Pokemon, Kingdra. Looks like I'll have to train up some more before I decide to take her on again.
I've been using the Pokewalker as well. Whenever I go to work I keep it in my pocket. That same Mareep is still stuck in there, it's the only Pokemon I've bothered to transfer into it.
As a side note, I've met a few people (at work, school), who are obsessed with these games too. People who haven't touched the series in years. It's such a nice feeling to see the Pokemon love being spread around.

TronBonne: The Pokewalker is a funny little thing. It's a good way to level up on the go (albiet one at a time) and get some items. I take it with me on my days off since I like going to town. As far as progress goes, I can beat the Elite Four, but I've got some serious grinding to do before I can beat Lance and his dragons (I hate those dragonites.... ). I've also caught Raikou, I weakened him after a long while, but I had no choice but to use my Master Ball... Entei's about half-way done, but I'll have to rethink what balls to use for him for when I try to hunt him. I tried out the Pokealthon(?) while flying home. The games are interesting, plus, you can get stuff with the points you earn as opposed to money, so I might look into that before going back to the Indigo Plateau.

Geeze, you guys finished your semester already? Hawai'i's doesn't end 'til mid-May! >_<
Either way, last weekend was my local anime convention. And naturally, there was a lot of people there with Pokewalkers. There were even some Pokewalker trading groups here and there. But I saw a bunch of good Pokemon in other people's Pokewalkers. I wonder if they know the disadvantage of training Pokemon with the thing. o.o;

@raven raven, raven, raven... you always have a choice whether to use the Master Ball. Although, I must say I have no idea how you all manage to hunt down Entei and Raikou legitimately. I'd be taken off guard just about every time I run into them on a random encounter... o__o I wish I'd saved my Master Ball, though. I'm hoping to get a new one from the lottery some day. BTW, raven if you're up for a battle one of these days that might be fun. I'm working on rebuilding my team from the ground up atm, but I should be able to throw something together. Just for fun, you know.. (@buster Cannon's team murdered me in a battle the other day.. I felt bad about it 'til he told me he imported them from Platinum x.x)Tron Bonne Did you start classes like really early or something? I've never heard of classes being let out before May at the earliest... o.o I still have this week and then finals next week, myself. (and I thought that was early)MegaTuga Pace yourself, man... o___o You're gonna run out of things to do. I'm some 230 hours in and I still have a few things left to take care of. XD ~ I don't even know where to begin, on my end... my progress has come to a pretty dead halt: my Pokédex is stuck at 238/Johto — the only guy left that I can catch in the game is Snubbull. (+Granbull for 240/Johto) The rest are Heart Gold exclusives. (and Chikorita — how am I gonna get that? =() So if anyone's up for a trade... But yeah, anyway I've been waiting for a Snubbull swarm for probably weeks by now. It's painful... I'm so tempted to cheat, but that wouldn't be cool. Pokédex aside, I finally went and figured out what that "EV training" business is all about. It's kind of nice to finally have that down... I looked further at stuff like IVs and the like and I've come to the conclusion that kids who play Pokémon that seriously are just *&^%+^_$!# crazy. My playtime as of late has been pretty limited, so I haven't been able to do much of this EV Training, but I've been trying to breed for the some properly-natured Pokémon in the meantime because that's simple and mechanical... Ooh, also Gym Leader rematches are the coolest thing ever. Do those. Especially Blue. Blue is the man; my respect for him is even greater than it already was before... <3 (on a related note, get your picture taken with Blue, too — I would frame mine if I could...(now there's a neat idea.. you should be able to hang up one of your photos in your room or something...)) At the moment I have every single Gym Leader waiting for a rematch. (takes about a week to do) I'm gonna have some fun with that one of these days. (if you're wondering, I think that's about 207,392 EXP — the word(s) you're looking for is “holy crap”)I've been playing the lottery every day with no real good luck. I think I have a guaranteed win for Last Prize, because I haven't missed that in forever. But today I matched three digits and got another Exp. Share. That was pretty sweet. ^___^ Also, I played Buena's Password every day just for kicks and now I've got her phone number. I'm not sure what it's for... but now the dialog with her is a bit different when I go in to play. I thought that was a nice touch. Awful silly game, though. “Let me tell you the password. ... Do you remember the password? ... You did! ... You win! Yayz.” And, err... yeah. Other than that everything's normal and stuff...

@green: I spent a good while tracking and hunting down Raikou, chiseling away at his hp to a sliver by the time I started I used my Jynx's mean look to keep him from running away. I tried to do set him up for ball barrages: level balls, heavy, quick and dusk ones, but nothing was cutting the mustard, which led to the eventual master ball use. I have to keep my time short since my LT's got a blue screen of death problem.....

I have no evidence for this, save for what I experienced myself, but I would swear that using Mean Look/Shadow Tag/whatever makes Entei and Raikou harder to catch. You're almost better off to just toss a ball and see how it goes. (otherwise only use it to wear them down...) I tried using Mean Look when I went tracking them, and I swear, the Pokéball (read: Fast Ball, Ultra Ball) never shook even once — and he was at 1HP and asleep. (False Swipe is a glorious technique <3)

@green: I'm taking a look around, and the word around the net is that one way to make it easier is to put Entei/Raikou to sleep once their health is in the red, then to use balls and hope for the best....but they can still use roar to escape... (I'm planning on Dusk, Fast and Quick balls- I did get one shake out of those.) I've got a gloom stowed away with sleep powder, so I'm going to train it up a bit for Entei. On an unrelated note, I'd scoured the net regarding my BSOD, and for the moment, I believe I've fixed my problem. Were it not so, I'd see that screen a few minutes after hanging around this site so.... yay for human doggedness on my part! ;D Still gotta run a few tests to be safe... Other than that, I'm still grinding for Lance. I'm back in business to say the least..

Okay, updates from me, I've beaten the second round of the Elite Four along with Red (the bad*** jerk >.>) and I've managed to catch 3 more of the Legendary Pokemon: Articuno, Mewtwo, and Groudon, who I'm gonna trade with a friend who has HG and Kyogre so we can get Rayquaza. Now, I just need to get a hold of Latios. (Why aren't my Pokeballs working? >_<) Edit: I have FINALLY caught Latios, using the standard Pokeballs for Pete's sake, and I ended up wasting about 30 Pokeballs on him.
