I wasn't planning on adding more work til Friday, but tonight's addition made me change my mind. For something a little different, I tried doing some work on an eye, I was leafing through my pics when I found one from the Star Wars: Clone Wars micro series. I saw this and it just screamed "draw me!" i643.photobucket.com/albums/uu153/ravenf6_tc/Eyework.jpg I tried to capture the detail of this extreme close up, the line art was pretty good, but adding the color really made this alien eye stand out- I swear it's looking right back at me! I hope I did this little bit justice. What do you folks think?

Woah, that eye is hypnotising! The color makes it look great, and I think you captured the detail in it very well. Nice work! ;D

Woah, that eye is hypnotising! The color makes it look great, and I think you captured the detail in it very well. Nice work! ;D Looking back on it, the colors give off an almost stained-glass window impression. It really gives the idea your standing face-to-face with this creep. ;D MISSION COMPLETE!! *inserts random Final Fantasy victory theme* ;D Today I've dug up three old works from before I moved: First up, after my artwork class of Juno, I've done up a few quick drawings and poses. i643.photobucket.com/albums/uu153/ravenf6_tc/Junoproductionsketches.jpgI own a considerable amount of anime- sometimes they throw in production art for special features. So that was the idea I had in mind for this one. It's old compared to how I draw Juno now, but I really loved it. The next two are relics I've done for a Kingdom Hearts fanfic my friend brewed up a long time ago- This first one was a rough work for the story's protagonist: Alex: i643.photobucket.com/albums/uu153/ravenf6_tc/Alex2-1.jpgIn this story, Alex is the son of Sora who ends up inheriting a keyblade of his own as the Heartless rise again to destroy the worlds. He has his father's courage and determination, but has a tendancy to be reckless.. A few influences went into this one, Ash (pokemon), Atemu (or Yami Yugi from Yu-gi-oh), and I tried for a slight Dragonball-like design (I can't do the muscles and proportions of the aformentioned to save my life). It's rough, but it was something we both liked. Last one up is my first design for Solrac: i643.photobucket.com/albums/uu153/ravenf6_tc/Solrac1.jpgBefore asking me to draw Alex, my friend wanted to do a character lightly based off of me. This work was my answer: In the story, Solrac is an old friend of Sora's who has a 'older brother' and 'mentor' role of sorts. He also pops in and out when you least expect it (think Batman). Compared to my later works of Solrac, this one needed polish. The double-bladed sword turned out wonky, and the body looks strange. This was done a long time ago and I had little to no materials to work with. But one truth of designing characters like this is that nailing designs on the first time is nearly impossible- that's what revisions are for. Still, I liked this initial design for what I wanted out of it. These works are old, but I realize that they were stepping stones- if I had not done ones like this, odds are I would not have produced gems like the eye and the Scythe-and-Sanosuke pics I've done a while back. I still have wrinkles to iron out and they might turn out lousy, but from risk comes progress. I'm working on something a little different right now, It's rough and a bit incomplete, but if you guys want, I can scan it and put it up here. What say you guys....?

Juno looks pretty good, like the robe and the staff(detail's good). The only thing is that he seems a little short. Alex is also pretty good too. Two negatives though. One, he looks like a character from pokemon(not really a bad thing but...). Two, his blade is a bit angled about maybe...7 degrees..? Every thing else seemed fine though. Two things I noticed about the first design for Solrac, his neck is a little long, and his shoulders are a bit blocky too. Otherwise, I think it's pretty good! And the idea to put up, try it. Good things can happen when you experiment, so give it a shot. Anyway, back in like the first page, Musashi said that he liked the rough sketch type stuff, so try it out.

@mr. Ninja: That's what he wanted. He wanted the character to have that hat and hair like Ash's. I made the blade angled to give more a a 3-dimensional look, as well. Tonight's additions are two works-in-progress: First off, another creature feature from the ghosts n' goblins world. I decided to give the Cockatrice (Griffin) monster a shot: i643.photobucket.com/albums/uu153/ravenf6_tc/CocatriceWIP.jpg I'm not used to drawing birds, especially monsters.Right now, you can see the circles and lines that divide the sections of feathers on the body and wings. The wings themselves don't match up and lack detail. The wings look a little tacked on. Right now, i'm thinking of shifting the wings lower to make them look more like arms, erasing most ot the body feathers, and give them details. I also plan to fix the right leg, it's rough. I took a little liberty by adding slits to the griffin's eyes and mangy bits of fur/features to the feet and backside. I wanted to draw another monster so... that's it for a progress report. The second one has a unusual story behind it. I was looking back on a few pics I snapped from The Hunchback of Notre Dame and felt like doing a work off it. In this case, the murder of Quasimodo's mother on the cathedral steps. (You can youtube Bells of Notre Dame for a quick reference) i643.photobucket.com/albums/uu153/ravenf6_tc/TheInnocentbloodyouhavespiltWIP.jpgIn this WIP, the Archdeacon (played by Edgar Voldge) laments the mother's death (I can't draw women to save my life, but this one turned out good, in my opinion). I was going to leave it at this, but then ideas started to come together-This was illustrated in the 3 panels on the top: 1st: The villain, Frollo denied his guilt and showed no remorse for his deed, so I decided to cast Megaman Juno to fill that role. It was surprisingly easy to fit Juno as Frollo since they share a few traits (position of power, no remorse, overly self-righteous). 3rd: Angered by Juno's attitude, Edgar told him that he could not deny it, the murder was on holy ground and under the eyes of God: 2nd: The statues of the various angels, devils and kings gaze down at the incident- finishing it was the highest figure- the statue of Mary, potrayed by the Master (this would be my first time drawing him, albiet loosely)in this case. This work is in an early stage, and is pretty light on the steps. Here's what I'm thinking of in terms of finishing it up: 1. Add a few more smaller panels of the system personal looking down to represent the kings (Yuna, Sera, Geetz, and Gatz). 2. Adding detail to the uncovered spot where the mother hit her head, maybe a little blood to it. 3. Apply # 2 to the 2nd panel, add a little detail of the Rose Window behind the Master. 4. color for the whole illustration. Optional: I might change the crosses into the Elysium symbols.. Right now, I do notice that Edgar's eyes might seem a little off (the hood might apply here as well). I'm not good at perspectives, but I do like how they combine with his expressions- it gives off the feeling that his grief and anger are genuine. Also, the mother on the 3rd panel looks weird, the head and chin line don't look right, I plan to address that. Any feedback would be appreciated, I really want to make this a good one... For a little bit, I thought about making Trigger the Archdeacon, but then I thought... he could be the baby Juno was going to drown.. A mouthful, I'll admit, but I hope something good comes of these works...thus far....

Just wondering, how's my request coming along? Works in Progress. Which leads to tonight's addition. Since Absolute Zero's done, it's time I got to work on X's ultimate armor. Here's a rough draft of it: i643.photobucket.com/albums/uu153/ravenf6_tc/UltimateXWIPlineart.jpgBear in mind that this will not be the final version. I drew this up to get a feel for it since unlike most of X's armors, this one incorporates increased armaments and what appear to be flight mechanisms... I hope that's the tail end of the 'flight mode' ... When I look at this compared to AZ, I daresay I've made a few improvements.. As for the legs, they are indeed up to scale- the issue is that reploids tend to have the outer armor built in, coveing the 'knees' and widening out towards the foot, which is encased in large shells, making it look like the feet are really big, the mechanical structures under the knee illustrate this point rather nicely, I think. Also, since X trades his forearms and hands for cannons it looks a bit strange. I gotta be honest- I've never done any serious mechanical design, I know the guns on X's right hand side are cut off, I was unaware that I'd run out of space by the time I drew the barrels, but all in all, this is merely for evaluation purposes. I'm looking for feedback to help improve upon this request. X is usually all business on duty, but I can't but help but see him saying "Be vewy, vewy quiet, I'm hunting mavewicks..." lol.... couldn't resist. *EDIT* I found a set of old drafting stencils halfway through this work, which explains why the shapes on the X's right hand side look better than those on the left side. To me, this one sets off a good opposite: Zero turned out dark and feral, but here, X, while seeming to be a lighter side, appears more resolved and calm than he normally is... a balance between the profane and the sacred....at least, that's what I think...

It's better than AZ turned out I'll tell you that raven. I went back to one of the links I put up for you and noticed some differences between yours and the actual thing but I actually like the way it's turning out so far. Keep up the work and do whatever you need to do.

It's better than AZ turned out I'll tell you that raven. I went back to one of the links I put up for you and noticed some differences between yours and the actual thing but I actually like the way it's turning out so far. Keep up the work and do whatever you need to do. Why thank you, Dragge. That made my day. Yes, I know that was weeks ago, but right now, I'm on vacation so I can't access a printer for the time being. I may be taking it easy, but I'm not done with this thing: I scanned tonight's submissions a long time ago, so to show you all that I'm not dead, here they are, humble as they may be... This first fanart hails from my days of Dragon Quest VIII. It's the 'Guv' . About a year ago, I plucked up the nerve to attempt a shot at Akira Toriyama's style. i643.photobucket.com/albums/uu153/ravenf6_tc/theGuv.jpgMy nitpicks about this aw is how the eyes and the bandana turned out, come to think of it, the head looks a little small. The right hand looks reversed, but I tried to do something with the hands instead of having them in static positions in this kind o fthing. The left hand looks like he's about to drop Munchie a piece of cheese (even though the little critter's not in the pic). The sword turned out lousy, and I scanned this in before I got the hang of using my scanner for sizing. The style turned out a bit more like my own that what I started with, but it's fine in my opinion.Flaws aside, I actually liked working with Toriyama's style. I remember doing one with Dhoulmagus, if I remember to when I get back, I might do another one of that sadistic clown. Next up is a relic from my days at the Final Fantasy Republic. The debut pic of Scythe Mana: i643.photobucket.com/albums/uu153/ravenf6_tc/Scythe.jpg5 years ago ,hen I drew this, I knew nothing of the human model- what you see was how I drew before I started to study the subject of modeling and detail, which is why the clothes look flat and Scythe looks short (so no unnecessary bugging about the legs) compared to how I drew him a few months ago. At the time, I was writing a Kingdom Hearts fanfic, which explains why there's a keyblade and keyhole nearby. I scrapped that story, but am planning on using a few elements if I decided to write it again. They're not much, but you have to add a few things from the trip down the road. You can't always create perfection on the first shot. Speaking of which, I'm still looking for feedback on my Ultimate X lineart from last month: I'm preparing to do another draft on that one, but I want to hear opinions on how to improvement, so if there's anyone who wants to add some input, I would greatly appreciate it, keep it constructive, though. While I'm on vacation (I'll be making a thread about this later), I'll be working on X and another request and try to spin some new works in between. I can use my camera almost like a scanner so if I have new works for you all, I'll put them up in due course .The feedback, though, I leave in your hands. Ciao for now.

It's been a while since I've updated this place so... a few things to clear out the cobwebs while I was gone.... This first one was a doodle I drew up while on vacation... i643.photobucket.com/albums/uu153/ravenf6_tc/Smithyscenery.jpgI did this as a means of trying to draw environments. A lot of people can draw characters with ease, but have little to no practice drawing places in which they can interact with, putting this to practice was my reason for drawing this, I suppose... Second up is an old scrap from a few years back. I drew a model suit of armor as part of a fanfic I'm brewing up... i643.photobucket.com/albums/uu153/ravenf6_tc/Armorscraps.jpg It's pretty basic, but I don't like how the feet on the left model came out. Armor tends to be a little elaborate, but it did help me for when I decided to remodel Tae'ro a few months back... Last one up is something I cobbled together last night. I was feeling restless and began to leaf through my old drawings when I came upon one I remembered from a long time ago.... i643.photobucket.com/albums/uu153/ravenf6_tc/Letsmakeadeal.jpgThe only things I remembered from this guy was that he was a merchant, and had a tendency to be sly and a little conniving. His outfit was unorthadox, which was pretty fun to draw. I guess Fred Lowe from Outlaw Star comes to mind.... Other than that, I haven't figured out a name for this guy... Despite how empty this place has gotten, life goes on- I'll be a little busy, though- my latest request is making progress... until next time, then...

It's been a few weeks since last time, so it's update time, once again. Now before anyone starts saying anything, I'm well aware that double posting is allowed on the provision that it's an update for the art work thread. Now the post may come off to the uninitiated as a triple post is that after my last update on the 4th. This is not my intention- I had hoped that other members would come here and add some input before tonight, but to my dismay, this thread was totally ignored these past couple weeks, so this situation was unavoidable...let it be known that I did this post to update the thread, and not as means to cause trouble. Moving on, tonight's additions: 1. Another Maximo fan art: this time, the dreaded Dark Knight: i643.photobucket.com/albums/uu153/ravenf6_tc/Darkknight.jpgthese brutes were fun to dispatch, and the design was awesome, so I gave it a shot. I don't like how the gloves/hands turned out, plus the helmet is far too large, but I liked how the armor and flail turned out. 2. A Trigger quickie: i643.photobucket.com/albums/uu153/ravenf6_tc/Triggerquickie.jpgI did a little practice with Trigger, again, taking about 10 minutes, I think. I wanted to get a more natural sense of scale with Trigger and his armor, which is Why I only did the most of the upper body, and only one arm. I really like his face and hair, so I added the music note expression (he likes it too, it seems..). An improvement over the last one, to be sure, I did some minor editing before putting it up, though. 3. Bureaucratic model OC: i643.photobucket.com/albums/uu153/ravenf6_tc/legendsOC.jpg I started this one with the intention of doing MMJuno, but found myself creating this, instead. For something different, I chose a unicycle wheel for movement, and the arms felt appropriate (must have been thinking the Big O, or something). From that point, I added the two reaverbots (gotta have a few lackeys, right?) and the props. I enjoyed this work and am seriously considering doing more for this character, once I figure out a name for her. Right now, I'm still working on a request that's shown significant progress, but still needs work. I'm putting up private views for anyone interested in throwing in opinions how to improve upon it. If any of you wish to see this WIP, feel free to PM me. I'm seriously hoping that by the time I add more to this place, someone else will add a reply. I intend to continue adding to this thread, but I don't want to cause trouble with the higher ups.. So if any of you are reading this, please look over my works and add some feedback. Until the next update, then...

I love the Legends artwork. Trigger looks great as if it could be cannon. The reaverbot work looked good too and liked the custom reavers.

A few lines here and there look slightly crooked, otherwise the pictures are very interesting, well detailed and solid. I really like your drawing style, I find it very cool and reminiscent of old game artwork. I love that kind of artwork! Hope you continue to improve and create more great pieces! ;D

Good news and bad news. First, the bad- I'm starting night school again on wednesday. The good news- I don't plan to stop doing AW despite this. I've got additions for tonight, so lets get to it. First, this one relates to my OC from last week. Figured out a name for her, too. Lachesis- i643.photobucket.com/albums/uu153/ravenf6_tc/Lachesisagain.jpgI drew this as an extremely rough experiment- getting used to her form is important due to her unusual structure. The colors look tacky, but there is a purpose for it- I'm using it as a means to highlight and differentiate the numerous sections of her armor and body. I plan to use gold as a primary color, but as you can see- figuring out a good color scheme with gold is tricky. If any of you have suggestions on color schemes, please include some feedback. It would be most appreciated. Next up is something diffrent- something... sinister... i643.photobucket.com/albums/uu153/ravenf6_tc/BirthofEvilWIP.jpgMy first PS2 game was Dark Cloud, and I felt like playing it again when this image came into my head. This little scene of Seda's descent and the creation of the Dark Genie was very haunting when I first saw it. Which goes back to a comment I made when I drew Death a few months ago- simple, but with impact- that's what I thought of this- a being of darkness borne from poor Seda's grief and hate. Aside from the image itself, the music track for the last dungeon (Corridor of Time) was a huge influence- the feeling that you're walking into a nightmare with fear, death, and despair as your only neighbors... and once you enter... you may not come out... ...scary... As the title suggests, this is a work in progress- I stopped at this point to preserve the line art- I like how the darkness of the demon contrasts Seda's tragic fall. Right now, I'm contemplating on how to do the coloring- I first thought of using colored pencils, as usual. But when I see this, I think that markers would do a lot more justice- the original piece had little detail and relied a lot on thick coloring to deliver the intend effect of fear to those who view it. Any thoughts on it? As I said before, I'll still be doing art if I can- some of my better ideas begin in the classroom. I'm planning on continuing work on my requests and possibly more work on Lachesis. Until next time, then....

I'm already a big fan of Lachesis. She maintains the style of a Bureaucratic model very well, yet she almost seems more human, and definitely stands out. Her design is unique, and her expressive eyes and hair really make her full of emotion. You were brave to use such a different design, and it has really payed off. You have created a great character with lots of personality, though she has not spoken a word yet, and we know little about her. I believe there are two good colours to complement the gold on her; purple, the colour of royalty, or a very piercing shade of red. It all depends on what kind of character you want Lachesis to be. For your second picture, just as you said, it is simple, yet conveys great power and expression. I love the contrast between Death and the rest of the image. It makes it feel as if the darkness is slowly consuming and corrupting more and more of the pure, white, beautiful world... or at least the paper. To keep the simple feel, I suggest using markers, but only if you're comfortable and experienced with them. Like I learned in a great and satisfying piece of literature... About how to draw manga... "A good colouring can't make bad artwork good, but a bad colouring can make good artwork bad."
