Really. Now that's curious in itself.
Surely there must be others... (not that I plan to try, mind you.)
I'll have to have a look at the rules again now... because I can think of all kinds of things that seem like they should be breaking some kind of rule simply by existing.
*squints*stares*glares* Huh. It looks like there really isn't much potential for original fiction to break a rule, outside of overt bigotry.

I'm way more used to people using creative venues to bash people and entire groups of people than I probably should be. A looooot of stupid stuff happens on the internet, after all, so when I see people feeling hesitant about taking a creative risk with straight-up writing, my mind usually jumps straight to "It's probably hate propaganda." Which is definitely something that would get people to react the way you described!

I can see in hindsight how what I said was not entirely clear. "subject matter", "makes people uncomfortable" etc.
I was actually referring to the fact that one of the characters is a teacher, and develops an unhealthy obsession with one of her students, fully cognizant of every problem with it, and just as disgusted by it as anyone else could be, yet is compelled via something broken in her psyche to continue escalating the obsession in spite of herself.
She is sane. Conscious. Aware of the fact that her own thoughts are terrible...yet compelled to them. Compelled like that tiny nagging feeling you get that says "jump" every time you see a ledge... the one most people shudder and ignore. But despite (to retain the metaphor) not wanting to die, she gets closer and closer to jumping off the cliff with every passing moment.
Worse yet, she knows it.
But that's not the reason people will recoil in horror. Its the fact that her thoughts would be presented in graphic detail. (It is after all a story about someone's mental breakdown)

There's a movie about that. It often plays on Lifetime. It's called "Dirty Teacher."

I have headcanon that's about that level for how Teisel's parents died and why he's got mechanical eyes. It reads like the setup for The Aristocrats and will never be published for exactly that reason. And if anyone held that sort of thing against Stephen King, the world would be a much less literate place, I'm sure. Though yeah, if it were me, I'd be like, nah, this isn't a thing for MMLS. It's original, so Kindle's reader base would be more into it I'm sure, plus there'd be a margin for profits. Just make sure you get some good cover art because people really judge books by their covers.

Never said I would post it anywhere.

I know, I'm just being hypothetical at this point. The information's probably useful for other people who're thinking about risky creative writing ventures on MMLS. I can guarantee you aren't the only person who will ever be on this site and have an idea for a risky creative writing venture.

In unrelated news, I'm refining a program that creates an image overlay on the screen that allows you to display scalable images at varying levels of transparency, which can dragged around, and you can interact with windows under them.
Originally this was intended to be a non-interfering UI translation tool for games and programs which would lock the user out if any modification was detected (even simple text translation) but I've since then decided it had more use as a visual aid for artists.
Currently it works entirely on hotkeys to minimize any impact it might have on your screenspace. Basically, if you've ever wanted an 'always on top' reference image in iscribble, this is that.
I'm trying to make it as elegant to use as possible, but of course that's sort of a non-trivial task when you can toggle between clicking on the window itself and clicking on what's under it. Some amount of convolution will exist.

"Risky writing ventures" should be my middle name now. I've had nothing to do but write recently, mainly for a play-by-post roleplaying session I started on the main forum I frequent, Fort Ticonderoga. I wanted to start a Pokemon RP based in the universe I've been writing in, the Rebuild of Arcadia, and I was able to hook a few friends from that forum to join in. I've been having fun coming up with the overarching story and plot for the RP, and I hope it'll keep them entertained. I'm sure entertained by it.
It's been too long, really, since I picked up the will to start writing and composing stories, even if they're just short posts in an RP. I'm very glad I get to pick my brain again about it all, it means I get to see where I'm a bit rusty and where I need to work on my writing skills again. One should always strive to learn from all their experiences if one wishes to be better in their fields of expertise.

You know self-publishing is really easy and cheap now, right? You could probably make some money off of that if you come up with something original.

I've had a sudden influx of dreams ever since I brought in my new bed set. I loved my old bed, however, another person happened to jump on my back as I was texting someone on my phone, which resulted in the immediate passing of my treasured friend.
Anyway, back to my new mattress.
I dream a lot now. Actually I'd say that I have nightmares now—every night. It doesn't stop. Ever. While I am admittedly impressed by the imagery my nerves are capable of conjuring, (I had a nightmare that took place in an animated universe that was just so fluidly animated that I want it to be a real thing!) I'm beginning to think that my bed is cursed.

We actually have a dedicated dream thread if you want to share all your trippy dreams with us. I had one recently that a damn aligator bit my forearm off. I was so freaking pissed! Losing appendages must be a heartbreaking ordeal. Of course you could get a sweet robot arm afterwards.

It took me this long to realize you were talking about your phone being broken as opposed to the person jumping on your back dying some kind of tragic death.

Actually, I think he's saying that when the person jumped on him, their combined weight and the sudden impact broke the bed. Which can happen.
It reminds me of the time a friend of mine who I hold very dear to my heart one day suplexed me through his box spring, smashing a big dent into it. This was right after he had put me in the Sharpshooter, I believe.

This was right after he had put me in the Sharpshooter, I believe. CZW! CZW! CZW! I always have weird dreams when I sleep. usually involving travel, unplayed N64 games, (sometimes I later find out it's just a section of an N64 game I never had the chance to play until recently like DK64,) epic adventures with either wrestlers I haven't spoken to in a long time since moving south or cartoon characters, or randomly placed spooky imagery you'd find in a mid-90's PC game. Or stairs. Lots and lots of stairs. But in recent months the stairs are replaced with roads. These all occur in random order. Hey isn't there a thread about dreams?
