Pardon if this poll/question has been asked before, but I'm genuinely curious. I figure most of us have played Legends 1, 2 and/or Mid-Adventures. But out of the series (including the side games, minus MML3 which was not released anywhere) which is your favorites any why?
Which game does the fanbase prefer over-all? I always got this impression that most prefer Legends 2 since it expands the lore the most. I prefer Legends 1 since I love that small-town feel, the mystery of the ruins, and I felt the story was more character-driven than plot-driven like Legends 2. When I recently watched ClementJ64's LP of the Legends games, he said his favorite was Mis-Adventures, so I figure some people got a preference for that one over the others. Maybe there's somebody here who has been able to play the side games, and prefer them.
Let's find out and talk about it.

Even if it's been asked before, everyone's thoughts have probably changed since the last time it's been asked, so that's actually an extremely good thing you're asking when you look at the overall health of the community here! I like Legends 1 the best still, the focus on the little details, the fact that they decided to get the most out of the disc space they had to work with rather than create a larger world, and the charming characters keeps it at the top for me.
That said, I would really love it if someone decided to remake 5-Island instead of redoing Ocean Tower from Legends 1, which is currently the most popular fangame project idea that comes through here. Its episodic nature would lend itself very well to a fan project and Legends 1 has been done to death.

There's a lot I like about Legends 2, but the first is still my favorite. The open world with a well detailed town (especially for ps1), sequence of events, and the feel of it all being on one island in the middle of a flooded world in the future.
The combo of walking around the happy up-going town and exploring the creepy mysterious ruins is great. Opening a chest and getting a new item whether it be a new buster part or a item used for development later. It kept the surprise going.

That's always a tricky question for me, just remembering the trilogy makes me instantly think I like all of them equally, but if I had to choose one I would say my favorite is Legends 2, it's the one I replayed the most both in English and Japanese, I like the whole Elysium stuff, the mystery of The Master System and I love the mother units concept and characters, in my opinion the Reaverbots are more cool and intimidating on this game and the variety of the themes on ruins makes it less repetitive, forget about the Nino ruins and it's a perfect game.

Wow, this is tough one for me... On one hand, Legends 1 is definitely the most memorable of the 3 main titles for me, seeing as I've played the N64 port to death and done everything from custom challenges to speedruns and other tomfoolery. Same for Legends 2, just minus a few years. On the other hand, because I grew up with this version of the game and MML2 both supporting analog control, I was kind of slow to adjust to the controls in the original PS1 version when I got a copy of it two years ago (heck, I still find dodgerolling kinda hard to pull off and I find myself getting hit by the green energy balls the Bonne bosses throw at you. Ugh.) But in the end, I still managed to beat it in a reasonable amount of time despite all this adjusting stuff going against me. As for Legends 2, it has become a bit of a mixed bag for me honestly. Like Striker, the whole spiel about the Master System is most intriguing to me and the game handles the best as far as controls and targeting system are concerened (while introducing a whole slew of new problems associated them.) But on the flip side, it was a bit lacking in the plot department compared to its predecessor and felt more like a rush job. Cold and sterile. And out of all the titles, this is probably the one I've complained the most about (if you didn't read about what I had to say about what disappointed me about MML2, read this.) As for MoTB, though I've only played it for up to the first-million-zenny point (before losing all saved data from my memory card due to corruption from saving in my weird copy of MML1,) I can already see the high replay value this game has, especially regarding upgrading and utilizing the Servbots. And out of the main three, Tron Bonne has my favorite tracks hands down. But that's all I can really say about it right now; I haven't even finished the game yet! So, I don't have a solid consensus on where MoTB stands as of now. Regarding the extra stuff, I was never able to play those. I really started getting into the franchise at the tail end of high school, and was preparing for college (and had a malware attack my XP and scaring me out of surfing the web freely compounded matters.) So, unfortunately I was I bit late on the uptake with regards to 5 Island Adventure and all the cellphone mini games. Yeah, as much as I dig the improvements to the gameplay in MML2, this Unit must give the title of "Favorite MML Game" to Legends 1/64, by a smidge. Nostalgia much? Probably so. It's just that I've realized in retrospect that I've complained more about 2 more than I have about 1. Will MoTB usurp MML1 as my favorite? Probably not, but that's something only my future, post-Tron Bonne self knows for sure.

I think this really comes down to "Do you like MML1 or MML2"? MML2 has the better graphics and gameplay, but I think MML1 has the better character development and sense of exploration. MML2 ends up being a linear tour of dungeons, and it would have probably been a lot better if they had managed to make use of re-visiting areas to make them feel more fleshed out.
