Can I ask someone to ban me on a random date for a random amount of time?

That's against the rules, isn't it?

As far as I know, asking for a ban is not against the rules. Nor is it ban worthy from the looks of it.

No, you can't have a ban. They're reserved for those who are a detriment to the forum itself. It's not something you can just ask for from fAB's mystical Pez dispenser of ban-tablets.

Do you mean a truly random ban at a random date for a random duration, or do you mean a ban with arbitrary limits defined by yourself?
If it's the latter, I've done it, actually. But that was a long time ago (in an MMLS far, far away). I'd imagine no one would have a problem with it, although it really is a pointless thing to do. And it probably would've been smarter to PM about it.

I want it totally random. And I'm mainly interested in the public response of the admins.

I don't understand why you'd want to be banned, Truner, but I'll try to answer the question. I don't think there are any completely random bans; we don't roll dice when someone deserves a ban, and I don't see any necessity in changing that. At least the way I see it, all bans are brought about by the person being banned, it's simply a matter of how it is demanded. There are no bans I can think of made while the person being banned was in good terms with the forum and its administration, or where the person has respectfully asked to be exiled; that is not what bans are for. Bans are to denote someone who has broken the rules, disrespected the staff, or has in some way made a nuisance of themselves that they need to be forcibly removed from the premises, so to speak. All members are welcome to remove themselves at any time, by simply no longer logging in or visiting the forums. Their departure, again, is entirely a consequence of their action, but they are (likely) still on good terms with the site that, should they choose, they can return. There is no reason to ban someone, or prevent their return, simply because they want to leave. Furthermore, it's not at all our fault if a member lacks the willpower or dedication to stay away from MMLS (as we often joke, people always end up returning). There are ways you can personally reduce or remove MMLS (or any other website, for that matter) as part of your life if you do not want it to be one, but these are things someone needs to explore and pursue on their own, and needn't include shameful exits and burnt bridges. I'm mainly interested in the public response of the admins. I'm not sure how to feel about this.

He's either trying to see how far he can push this system, like I've done with Shutterfly, or he's covering for someone else.
Unless either you have a damned good reason for it or you demonstratively GIVE us a damned good reason to do it, we won't ban you. And if you try to manipulate us into banning you because you are a troll, then may your deity of choice have mercy on your soul.
We definitely don't randomly ban people. That's just plain weird and unethical. If you were to seriously request to be banned for a random amount of time at a random point in time, there'd better be a really good reason for it and this staff had better know and concur with every detail for that to go through at all.

Screw the rules! I have money! Even without screwing the rules and bribing his way into a ban, banning him should be a breeze. I mean, look at all of those old topics in which he flamed people like crazy. Too much harassment of other users and he is still unharmed. The rules in here are too strict, but it doesn't seem to matter since the mods/admins seem to lazy to notice the real infractions.

BS, I like to conduct all MMLS business with other members behind closed doors, and I do not appreciate you calling me or my staff lazy. For all you know, Truner could very well be one infraction away from a ban, but frankly, whether he is or not is none of your concern unless he's harassed you personally.
If this is the case and Truner IS harassing you, you ought to report him privately instead of whining about it passive-aggressively out in public.

What does BS stand for?

P.S. What does BS stand for? BrawlingSakura, obviously. Abbreviation is common with names around here. Heck, even my original username got dramatically shortened by some of the others. ...Why? What did you think it stood for?

Wait a moment! So every-time someone says BS on the Internet, they are referring to me!? I don't believe it. 99,9% of the time it doesn't make sense contextually. And besides, I'm not THAT famous. (Or famous at all.)

So every-time someone says BS on the Internet, they are referring to me!? I see what you're trying to do here. Just because "BS" obviously means something else in other branches of the Internet doesn't mean you should be trying to egg it out of people here. If you don't like the abbreviation "BS" for your name here, then just change your display name to just "Brawling" or "Sakura". If either are taken, just ask Dashe to edit/delete the inactive account. Don't make a big deal out of it. 99,9% of the time it doesn't make sense contextually. This forum falls into the remaining .1% you're talking about; unless you've registered in other forums elsewhere. Believe it.
