)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) Update News (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((( *Updated to Final Version* I realised that version 2 ended up sounding too professional. The issue is, we don't want it to sound too prewritten or its going to sound like an advertisement instead of a freshly written, personal fan appeal. The old professional version can be found here.
*Updated to Version 2* - Everyone be sure to lend Legends Stations very own Dashe Troxon a thank you for helping me to improve this template! She has done a proofread for me which through a collaborative effort has significantly improved the effectiveness and organization of this template. She also has cleared up a number of timeline errors for me, as I was not an active member of the English Devroom and am a bit out of the loop on that one. Dashe, I can't thank you enough! I have also improved the thread itself, tidying it up a bit for enhanced readability. Please discontinue use of older versions if you copied the template somewhere on your personal computor/laptop/mac.
))))))))))))))))))))) YouTube Promotion Template Final (((((((((((((((((((((
I have created a YouTube promotion template to send out to your favorite YouTubers! Now, many of you may think that YouTubers would not be responsive to this kind of thing. I have messaged 10 YouTubers in one day and in that day have gotten positive responses from 3 of them. One of them sounds like he might be doing a video, not a garuntee, but he averages 300,000 veiws per video on his gaming themed channel. Even if he doesn't, he will probably check out cause and at least like the Facebook page. Thats +1 for our movement. Doesnt seem like alot? Believe me, it's alot! We currently have over 51,200 members. If everyone in this group each got one more person to join the community page right at this moment, we would instantly meet our goal and THEN SOME with 102, 400 members. All it takes is that one person from everybody. Imagine the expression on Capcoms faces if we could meet this goal by the end of December! Lets get movin guys! Those expressions alone should be more then worth it =P Also: DO NOT DISCRIMINATE =D One YouTuber I havnt got a reply from yet is makeup guru michelle phan. Why message a makeup guru? Homegirl imma tell you why. First of all, cuz im a girl Nawh im actually trans, but heres the point: Michelle phan has a lesser known channel called Presstart. The channel is a collab between her and YouTuber Swoozie, where they have gaming competitions. Michelle is more familiar with Capcom then most people, she is a die hard Street Fighter fan! Shes also a huge anime fan and has a fetish for yoshi plush toys (mines Megaman Trigger.. Oh damnn!!). Even looking at her makeup tutorials, you will see that she does alot of cosplay makeup looks. She also works for Revlon and has her own skincare line called IQQU. The fact is, tell everybody you know. Don't pick and choose, because you never know who might be a Legends fan, or non-fan who would support our cause. Yes they exist, a great example is Assitant Director Jessica who runs the 3,000+ member group "Revive Megaman Legends 3" on Facebook. She has NEVER EVEN PLAYED Megaman Legends!!! You can check her group out here. The template works like this. In the ___ or blank sections, fill out the necessary information. Some blanks have a description of what to put there. When greeting "Hello ____" try to use the persons real first name and not the YouTube username, or this will come accross as fake/spam. If you do not know the name of the YouTuber, there are a couple ways to find out, and you really should do this: 1) Look on thier profile. In thier information, there is a "Name" field. If thier name is on there, use it. If whats entered in the field is a repeat of thier username, go to strategy 2. 2) Skim through thier videos until they or someone in thier videos mentions the YouTubers name. [/b] Additionally, you can edit the introductory feilds necessary. You can change it to what matches the situation. This is simply a basic template.
I usually title my messages with this:
"A Fan Appeal ^.^" Feel free to change that up. "A Personal Appeal" or "An Appeal from a Fan!" Whatever you think will sound nice and not spammy.
On to the template, please dont copy the quotes: "Hello ____, I am a huge fan of your videos and have been watching them for ____ now. __(specify anything else relating to you being a fan of thier videos and what not)__ . Anyways, I dont know if you have ever heard of Megaman Legends, but its a series made by Capcom with the first game hitting NA in 1998. It is completely unique from other Megaman series with it's gameplay and amazing storyline. The first installment became a psone greatest hit. About a year ago Capcom announced that, 10 years after the last mml game, Megaman Legends 2, a third Megaman Legends installment would be in production titled simply as "Megaman Legends 3". Essentially, they opened up a devroom on Capcom Unity where you could join, get a servebot (they are cute little robotic characters in the game) number and participate in all aspects of the games development. Contests were held for reaverbot (the monsters in the game) designs and character designs. Voting was held for every aspect of the game content, all votes being inputed by the players. Everything from the games easter eggs to voice actors were also suggested by players. A prototype game to be released on 3ds (as would the full game have been) and was announced to be priced at two dollars. It was meant to determine wether the game would meet cost criterias. On July 19th, the prototype and game was cancelled by Capcom, without even giving the fans a chance to show Capcom it would recuperate thier production costs. Many people purchased a 3ds just for this game alone. It was the only game that gave us a reason to buy the 3ds. Since then, a massive movement has started to put the game back into production. Capcom has left the NA devroom open with an official petition to put it back in development. I will put instructions on how to get a servebot number and sign the petition in a link below. This is the best way to show capcom there are still NA fans for the game. However, there are other petitions around aswell, you can see them at www.legends3.com. Link : getmeoffthemoon.blogspot.com/2011/07/become-servbot.htmlThe people who run the following group on facebook, have been touring setting up comic con booths everywhere, taking money out of thier own pockets to promote this game. I am not part of thier organization I am just a die hard fan doing my own part to save this game. They currently have 51, 492 members climbing daily. Thier goal is 100, 000. They have also been trying to rile up fans in Japan and other countries. I believe that if they can succeed, they could change the way the Japanese gaming industry looks at discontinued series. This, in turn would effect the way the gaming industry around the world treats them aswell. Right now Japan places alot of thier emphasis on financial advisors rather then development teams, as do many companies in other countries. However, the announcement for Dash#3 debuted at #1 on Japanese twitter for three whole days. If you dont know already, Twitter is massive down there! This shows how much potential influence this game actually has, and if they succeed in getting people in Japan to fight back, they could revolutionize the gaming industry. www.Facebook.com/GetmeoffthemoonThey also have a blogspot site found below and they have done work to connect the movements not only between NA and japan but in tons of other countries aswell (which you can see alone from thier facebook group connections) getmeoffthemoon.blogspot.com/I am writing this to you hopefully to encourage you if you are a legends fan to help promote the cause by making a youtube video or other means. Fan-to-fan. This series means alot to alot of people and its a series that has generated more love, I believe, than any other game. If you have not played this game, I highly reccomend giving it a shot. There are three ways you can look at: 1) Amazon.com has used copies that have gotten as low as $16.30-$22.32 here: www.amazon.com/Mega-Man-Legends-Playstation/dp/B000006OVJ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322851669&sr=8-12) If you follow the 100, 000 blogspot I linked above, you can find out where the next comic con booths are being held. They have the games ready to play at thier booths for free! 3) You can check out legends-station.com, they have a forum with wonderful people that would be more than willing to hook you up with a playable copy, they also have all the information on every game in the series and even the unreleased legends 3 that you will ever need. They even have OST's and free downloadable mp3's of every bgm in each game. Thank you for taking the time to read my appeal. I know your a busy _guy/girl_ and I really appreciate it. Sincerely, ____"

Nice going! Mind if I proofread what you've got, and maybe write an additional shorter version in case the target has a very busy schedule? I'm not sure how many Japanese translators GMOTM has, but I'm sure they'd do a better job than Google.

"Hello _____, I am a huge fan of your videos and have been watching them for _____ or so now. Have you ever heard of a video game called Megaman Legends? The first game hit North America in 1998. It is completely unique from other Megaman series with its own gameplay and a positive, compelling storyline. The first game became a PSone greatest hit, and there hasn't really been anything like it since. Not too long ago Capcom announced, ten years after Mega Man Legends 2's cliffhanger ending, that a Megaman Legends 3 would be in production. They even opened up a Devroom on Capcom Unity where you could join, get a Servbot (they are cute little robotic characters in the game) number and participate in all aspects of the game's development. Contests were held for enemy and character designs, there were polls for every aspect of the game, and they allowed more influence from the consumers than ever before. The players suggested everything from the game's voice actors to easter eggs. Last April, Capcom announced a prototype version for the 3DS eShop to determine whether the game would recuperate its production costs and ultimately dictate whether the full game would ever see a release. It was to be priced at two dollars and slated to appear in the eShop at launch. However, its release was delayed, and on July 19th, Capcom announced that it had been pulled without even giving the Prototype the chance to prove how well it would fare on the market. They decided it would fail before we had the chance to vote with our wallets. For many people, this game had been the only reason they'd purchased a 3DS at all. Almost immediately, a massive movement to put the game back into production sprang into being. Capcom has left the North American Devroom open. It now contains an official petition to put the game back in development. Here is the link: Devroom Petition: www.capcom-unity.com/devroom/go/thread/view/114725/28033281/SIGN_HERE_TO_SUPPORT_MML3!!!_CAPCOM_KEEP_YOUR_PROMISE!!! Below, I have linked to the instructions on how to get a Servbot number, become an official Devroom member, and sign the petition. Since this is Capcom of America's official site, this is the best way to show that this game is more marketable than they're giving it credit for. If you go to legends3.com, then you can find other ways to help out, too. getmeoffthemoon.blogspot.com/2011/07/become-servbot.htmlThe people who run the following group on Facebook have been setting up convention booths all around the world, taking money out of thier own pockets to promote this game. ______(Specify the extent of your involvement with 100k here)________ They currently have 51, 300 members, and those numbers climb daily. Their goal is 100,000. www.facebook.com/getmeoffthemoonTheir international team has been working hard to connect the North American and Japanese fanbases, bridge the culture gap, and unite them in order to get the message straight to the executives in Capcom of Japan who cancelled the game in the first place. This kind of response to a game's cancellation has never happened before in the history of the industry. If you can, picture your favorite book, TV show, or game leaving you hanging for ten years. Then imagine having that resolution just within your reach, even getting the opportunity to help the developers produce it, and then have it all taken away without any clear reason whatsoever, presumably forever. I am writing this to encourage you, especially if you've ever been in a similar situation or if you like video games at all, to make a YouTube video promoting the series, or help out through some other means. Fan-to-fan. This series means a lot to a lot of people, including the developers who have pitched it consistently over the last ten years. It's a series that has generated more love, I believe, than any other game, and has captured the hearts of everyone who gave it a chance--even people who don't usually play video games. If you have not played it, I highly recommend giving it a shot. Every game in the series is available for the original Playstation, and Legends 1 and 2 are playable on an emulator if you can't afford to spend money. Normally, for moral reasons I wouldn't promote piracy like this, but the games are now extremely rare, and while Legends 1 is still relatively affordable, Legends 2 and series spinoff The Misadventures of Tron Bonne normally run upward of a hundred dollars for a used copy. The risk of losing Legends 3 altogether outweighs the risk of pirating the old games in order to keep the series alive. If you do have the funds or don't feel comfortable, all of the titles are available through eBay and Amazon. If you would like any more info on the series or need help getting a copy, the following site has been around for nearly ten years and they have plenty of resources to help keep you in the loop. www.legends-station.com/Thank you for taking the time to read this. I know you're busy and I really appreciate it. Sincerely, ____ "
There. I cut most of the Japanese devroom aspects--as far as I know, the Japanese devroom shut down because it was based around Capcom's Daletto blog system, which ceased operations in September to be replaced with a new network. It had nothing to do with the number of fans involved meeting quota. The problem there is that the Japanese population, for the most part, tends to be complacent and passive by nature. While there are likely more fans in Japan than there are here, the Japanese fans have been brought up to take things like game cancellations without a fuss, and that's the big hurdle Team Japan's dealing with right now, as far as I know. If we convinced the Japanese fans that they can make a difference, then 100k's numbers would soar and we'd be that much closer to getting straight to the heart of the issue at CoJ. Their business hierarchy...actually, most entertainment business hierarchy...is incredibly screwy in favor of the financiers. Right now the developers definitely outnumber the Board of Directors (and to my knowledge, actually sympathize. CoA too, which has been proven. They're just limited in how they can express it.) It's all those years of cultural ingraining that's keeping hundreds of thousands of developers and consumers from speaking out against about ten executives. If this movement succeeds, I think it's got a pretty good shot at knocking a powerful chip off of Capcom's infrastructure for the better as far as consumer relations go.

LMFAO. OH. MY. GOD. I am SUCH a klutz!!!!!!! I TOTALLY forgot to take out the part about the hacked psp when I posted this on the site.... Oh my god lmfao. I should have went over the template completely, I forgot I even had that in there!!!! -Roflcopter went swoosh- ooooppsss.......... ..
At any rate, thanks Dashe for the edits and information. I will fix up the main post shortly for you. I knew about japanese being culturally ingrained to be passive, but I lacked knowledge on how buisness was maintained in favor of executives. Thats pretty sad, now I finally understand the purpose of getting hold in japan. Prior to that I thought it was a waste of time as they already had more then enough consumers to meet thier profit margins for that country. Getting Japan to be less passiv..... Wow... This is actually, an EXCELLENT plan! Who devised this scheme??? This is incredible! I must know!! That is freakin SMAAART!
Edit: Actually im going to make fixing this thread a priority over my other stuff, I dont want to promote piracy here...
Edit 2: Wow. I just really cannot believe this! Amazing! FLAWLESS! This completely changes eeeverything. Dashe, I have a really important question for you, what is the support from like from capcom's north american branches?? Have they ever said they would do this game without a doubt if capcom Japan was supportive? For example, if cap japan gave go ahead right now, would they produce this game in north america on the spot? Also, do you know how much member support the japanese devroom had? How many members? If you don't can you tell me who might know that I could contact?

This scheme's been brought to you by all of us at GetMeOffTheMoon International, and some of it was even formulated here on MMLS. We've all been digging around wherever we can to find out as much about how Capcom runs as possible. It's the kind of plan that really can't be attributed just to one person. The toughest part is that it's not something that's relegated just to gaming companies in Japan. Even big entertainment moguls in the US are like that. I'm not a big Bill Plympton fan, but he was kind of right on the money when he said that dealing with Disney isn't 'good cop, bad cop," but more like "good cop, antichrist." You know it's a family business, right? The top shareholders within Capcom are all either national banks in Japan or members of the Tsujimoto clan. None of them are really entertainers, they're financiers. Kenzo's the CEO now, but he's on the verge of retiring to his vineyard at Napa Valley and has plans to get his son Haruhiro, who is currently President and COO, taking the reins. He was instated as president in 2007, when a lot of major artists and designers started getting Japanese-fired (quitting, because their office lives are so hellish). A lot of these entertainment companies are set up so that people who aren't really trained to understand what makes a good show, film, or game sell have the power to decide what to sell, and Capcom has it so badly that it's like a big caricature of this phenomenon. It's like all their execs are capable of doing is watching the sales figures and making sequels and rereleases of what's given them money in the past, and it's also where "me too" syndrome comes from. They react to trends instead of taking risks and trying to set them. Ah, business buffs. You do need them to run a good company, but putting checks on their power is majorly important. It's funny how most CAOs (corporate artist officers--designers with CEO chops) don't (usually) wind up being as outright power hungry as the straight-up CEOs who are all business. Somewhat related. If you haven't read this article yet, it's pretty brilliant.First question, NA is not allowed to say anything because their hands are tied. They already want the game to be made. Unfortunately, they do not produce games in their North American and European branches, they just market the ones the Japanese developers make. They're essentially middlemen, nothing more, nothing less, which is why it's frustrating when people hassle guys like Sven and Seth to make it. If you've ever watched or been forced to watch Glee (my favorite show), it's like Principal Figgins. The cheerleading coach has him on puppet strings so he can't give the arts funding, even though they need it and the cheerleading team's getting stuff like giant cannons and pyrotechnics for their routines. As for your second question, the JP devroom had approximately 15,000 members at the time of the cancellation. The devroom there was completely locked down on the 19th, and no new members were able to join in reaction to that, so there really isn't much of a way to account for everyone who wanted to play the game but didn't want to make it. However, for a few days #DASH3 was trending #1 on Twitter in all of Japan. Twitter is HUGE there. For #DASH3 to get the #1 spot at all, that is major.

Excellent. Thank you, most kindly for this extensive information it has been incredibly helpful. The devroom number count was low but the twitter point was far, far, oh so far.. better an argument than a high devroom count! Have you guys been trying to get supporters from japanese cultural organizations? >=)))

I'm not sure. Since I don't speak a lick of Japanese I don't pay too much attention to what Team Japan's up to exactly, so I'm not sure who they're targeting. Jake would. He's going by Runner here. I do know Inafune found their blog after we rallied at NYCC'11 and responded very positively, stating that we were certainly on the right track and needed to remain persistent in showing support for the franchise. Getting to CoJ is like trying to stone a brick wall to pieces. They're stubborn, but if we keep at it long enough and hard enough the cracks'll start to show, assuming they haven't already with the latest slew of sloppy decisions on their part (seriously, charging for cheat codes in Dead Rising? What the hell?), and that's assuming the first crack didn't show when they cancelled Legends 3 in the first place.

Muahahahahahahaha! I think I have the title for my next project "The Legend of Megaman Legends". I need to talk to jake. Yeah I know hes going by runner on here, im waiting for him to get on skype actually. I dont know if they have though of it already.. But perhaps I can offer some ideas or my skills. I think in regards to Inafunes support, it should be mentioned and emphasized to the NA population that "He wants us to be persistant", if it hasnt been already. That could help get a bit of extra push out of NA's 100, 000 members.
Edit: Ok ive updated the appeal for the moment, ill make sure to be alot more careful before I jump to release something. The idea to post this on here kinda spread from the forum template post, which sprang from me needing to host a site for its preview.. Also im going to re-edit this a bit more I just wanted it updated before ppl start using it (the psp thing especially), I want to use the japanese cultural movement to conivince people to join our cause. This adds extra effect than just a heart appeal, because many youtubers understand that 100%, as ive noticed, but dont want to do a video for this because they start getting spammed by requests from fans who want them to do videos for thier own favorite series. Though if I was them, id just pretend the series was close to me, but thats me.. So the best thing we can hope for in terms of youtubers making vidoes is that they personally like the series, until now. With the added japanese cultural effect concept, it might increase peoples responses because it appeals to thier personal needs for thier own favorite series production. If we do effect japanese culture enough, we can change not only capcoms view on discontinued series, but other companies aswell. That is the logic behind it. And this is the premise for a new plan im devising, actually, better, a completely new strategy. Although focusing on promotion on NA is still going to be essential, the reason why is because we can take out the financials power from BOTH sides, thier numbers AND thier labourers, my strategy feels like its taking a 180 right now. XD

Or maybe we could appeal that we're trying to change the infrastructure of the entertainment industry itself. Many Youtubers are also performers, or aspire to get into that industry in some way. If companies like Capcom were structured to give key artists more sway, then that would make recognizing and hiring new talent go a lot easier. It'd come off a lot better than saying that we're trying to completely uproot another country's culture, which isn't really the aim of the game here. The goal is to get Capcom to take a risk and make a maneuver that says, "We care about the people who buy our products and keep us in business. We'll give this game a chance because you love it and keep asking for it."
That was essentially what got Legends 3 going the last time. Fan demand. It was actually a physical representation of the relationship between Capcom and its consumers and concrete proof that they were a company that listened to what the people wanted. Scrapping this game should have hit their PR harder than it did.

Your absolutely right! Excellent point my lady! An additional edit is in order.
Well at least this way, if our movement succeeds, legends shall truely not know death, as legends are sussposed to be, immortalized in times sparkling sands of memory <3 But speaking out of metaphor, capcom would most likely be releasing more than a third game. It was once said in a favorite anime of mine, Burst Angel or Bakuratsu Tenshii in japan, "that which has form is ultimately destined to crumble" it must be made mention that nothingness is a form of its own which is subject to crumbling as is space, and everything else that is what we percieve to be as "exsisting". Thus, so will the abandonement of our dear legends 3, cease to exsist, my boy will be off the moon, yours, fighting with him. XD

Yes. Version 2 is on its way shortly, following the release of the version 2 forum template which is underway as we speak.
Edit: Update complete, I didnt use the text-embedded urls because I don't believe YouTube allows for that in its messages. Let me know what you think! Also sorry it appears I finished this template update before the other one, not the other way around.. lmao
