So, I ran a search and couldn't find a thread about this, so here we go. Why is the Class S exam so brutal? I've been playing this game since it was released, and I still can't do it. I always get to the last room that has the Sharukurusu, where I either run out of time or die. I really want to get the license too, because I've never seen the Kimotoma Caverns, or the Pokte ruins. Is this test a problem for anyone else? For what it's worth, I've beaten both of Sera's forms without using the canteen or other healing items, so I don't know why I suck so bad at the test.

On my very first playthrough of MML2, I didn't bother with any side ruins or anything, I just did my regular Mikey-style run, going through the main story as quick as I could so I could get closer to understanding and comprehending what the heck was going on. I remember when what Yuna and Gatz said at the very beginning was 100% foreign to me. Anyway, I never did take the S license test, because after beating the game once (or was it twice?), I've practically lived in Very Hard mode, where you automatically have the SS license starting out. However, here's a video I recommend for a crash course on how "not" to fail the S license test. He's one of my favorite LPers on Youtube, so see if his little runthrough doesn't help you out. Here's another little hint: The lifter is your friend.

Oh, I know how to do it. I spam the rapid fire trick and use the lifter whenever I can. I'm just not crafty enough to get through it. I guess I need practice.

I never had to pass the test. I got frustrated, looked up a gameshark code and did it the non-legit way. That put an end to my headaches trying to pass.

The S Class License always reminded me of the cool, old games. Pattern memorization that have to be applied almost perfectly for a large amount of time. You really need good hand-eye coordination.
(Though I had to admit a lot of those old games were cheap.)

I used to have so much trouble on getting the S-class license, but I eventually pulled through and earned it.

I still have a lot of problems with the class S license, it's so hard! I'll have to check that video up when my connection is more stable, maybe it can improve my skillz.

Haha, so true. Alot of it is just learning how to toss reaverbots into others to limit the amount of time you waste using your buster gun to kill things, the only truly annoying part is that room with the three Amistals, having to constantly watch your back for the little baby reavers it spits out can be a bit hard to keep track of at times. Also, using the common 'up trick' with your buster can help speed up things a little.

It all pays off. You get extra cash off of reaverbots. And did I mention that you need the Class S license to get the Hunter Seeker special weapon?
Also, use your lifter.

I use the lifter, but even so i always ran short of time and my fingers arenot really a hardcore gamer's, so my reaction to some reaverbot attacks was slow.

Hmm, you really need the lifter since the crab reaverbots and the stinkgas-thrower reaverbots are quite beefy, and the reaverbot you threw dies automatically when it hits another reaverbot.
You wouldn't be able to use it on the Bal-Kacche (butterfly/moth reaverbots) and the round-purple reaverbots (the amistals? I never really got the names down.), but that's where you use the "keep pressing the fire button while you rapidly tap the up-button" tactic.

I remember I was so excited to go into the Kimatoma ruins after I got my S license. I spent about an hour a day for 2 or 3 weeks straight working on it. Then I went into the ruins and saw it was underwater, and died inside. Something about underwater ruins and the really slow run speed and massively exaggerated knockback effects just kills the coolness of it for me.

I finally got a friend over to win the class S license and i also scooted over the kimotoma S class ruins. I absolutely adored every single bit of it, unlike exystreoffasandjankfa i loved nino's water ruins and their slow pacing, extreme jumps and watery sounds.
I also loved the fact the game felt so much smoother after getting out of there.
