Am I the only one who both loved yet was extremely disappointed by this place?
The entire "mystery" surrounding it was incredibly well done. Frozen people? Yuna's body? Sera? It was INCREDIBLE. And the boss was one of my favorites of the Legends series. And after freeing Sera, how the entire place is silent? I was extremely creeped out when I visited the place, thinking something'd jump at me.
But it didn't, and it disappoints me. Didn't anyone expect revisiting Forbidden Island would yield something besides... You know... Empty, creepy place and a few comments from Roll? I remember thinking there'd be some secret ruins or a secret boss, or a gigantic refractor like the one in the Main Gate back during Legends 1. XD

Interesting thought, and I can't help but agree. It would have made a whole lot more sense, and would have probably been a lot less disappointing if Forbidden Island couldn't be accessed after that part of the story, and I can't guess their reasoning behind leaving it there. I was half-expecting another Apricot Pie comment from Roll while going around that island, but she was boring. They could have at least been a little more interesting with the wordplay, I mean, come on.

I guess that island is forbidden mostly because it is difficult to enter and come back. That's probably one of the reasons why people in-game thought the motherlode was inside.

Yeah, I'd have to agree that it was really anticlimactic. It was probably also forbidden because Sera was sealed away there. If I recall correctly, I don't think Yuna wanted her to completely re-initialize Terra if she'd won the fight with Trigger. Still, Sera's stasis field could have definitely been more elaborate than just a floating diamond out in the open. It just seemed so...unthreatening.
The most threatening thing about it to me was the fact that after beating Rush Mammoo there was a naked girl on TV for about five minutes, and that TV was right in the living room where any one of my family members could've walked by and taken the game away for inappropriate content.

The island served its one purpose to the plot during the opening scenario. It's not like they planned for you to have any reason to be there after Sera shows up. With a more modern and thorough take on the game, that's likely where they would hide the ultimate secret dungeon you can only access after beating the game. Might be something for a re-release bonus or something.
I'm not really disappointed though. I thought the initial return to Forbidden Island was handled pretty well. Yes, everything is creepy and silent and you tread slowly, expecting something to jump out at you any second. That's the point. Then nothing happens and the game is all "PSYCH!" It only works once though. I don't think there necessarily had to be a payoff to all that suspense because seriously, there's no significance in the plot to that return trip. Going to explore an empty frozen wasteland and then being surprised that it's just an empty and frozen wasteland is all about making fun of our gamer preconceptions.
I laughed.

Well... A - It didnt show a thing. B - The only unsubtle part about it was Trigger's Face. and everyone's reactions. I doubt they'd have taken it away, but rather made lame and very rude jokes about it. My thoughts? Island revisist: "Eh boring, I'm peeking at Yuna, then leaving." Sera's appearance: "Gosh she resembles Eureka*...i need to look away for that and the fact I'm loyal to Roll!" * = Eureka from Eureka 7,(just Google her) MML came first so Eureka's the duplication. Heck, even their slip-dress matches in style. (In e7 fandom I'm loyal to Eureka, hence my need to look away.)

Maybe not, but when you have crazily overprotective parents you just can't afford to take any chances. And thanks for the clarification. Whenever I hear about some girl named Eur(e)eka this one's always the first thing that comes to mind, not that I'd look away any less quickly if she popped out of a floating diamond naked.

I believe that island was forbidden just for the fact that there was a very strong hurricane that make it almost inaccessible, Sera's stasis field could be the reason of the storm, since it's in the eye of the hurricane, and there why it stopped once Sera was free. It's not disappointing for me, it's just: Hey! nothing happens anymore!?

The first time through the island its a fun, creepy and engaging adventure. Afterwards its a dead silent waste, I just use it for weapons testing when I get a new weapon. Besides looking at all the trashed airships and wreckage is fun.

Your parent were that overprotective? Golly I've never heard of the kind except before 1940's. And...answer via PM if you like but uh...What do you mean by "thanks for the Clarification"? Also yeah, googling some girl named Eureka is gonna pop out POPE7* Eureka a lot...can't say I blame them...darn girl is way too much of a tease... (My list of "liked" female charas includes Eureka and Roll so when i saw a -naked- darkened-toned Eureka-ish figure, i had to look away or bad moments would have soon occured) (* = Full name of series: "Psalms of Planets Eureka 7" one 50-ep anime, 6-volume manga, and a OVA, each a different continuity/retelling, with anime series being best IMHO.)

I'm talking about the clarification that the Eureka you'd had in mind was not the Eureeka from Eureeka's Castle, which was a children's show I watched on occasion when I was young enough to appreciate it. I would not have known of Eureka 7 to begin with if you hadn't mentioned it. I definitely was not the only kid with a crazy mom, too. My best friend's mom was even worse about it, so it would make a lot of sense to hide a naked girl on an island guarded by a hurricane for an E-rated piece of software. Only problem is, that guard's not supposed to work if you want to progress through the story at all.

Oh, didn't know of that one, thanks, feeling's mutual I guess, also I should mention E7's use of eureka is said "Eh-Oo-Reck-Ah", even the title of the Anime.
For me it wasn't my mom, my sisters however...yeah i do know the feeling but it wasn't anything as intense as that.

to answer you Tau:
reason1 - low-standards Back then regulations for game ratings were low-standard, FF7 would today, be an m-rated game, but yet got what a ?T? back then.
reason2 no-personal-points No nipple = no private part, the entirety of a breast can show, but the the nipple is covered in some way, it is not considered pornographic. -IRL example: A big popstar went onto a stage-based awards show on MTV or VH1 YEARS ago, her dress only covered one breast, her exposed one had some clip-like attachment covering the other, the -male-comentator even declared it "...one breast fully exposed" to the words.
Now tell me how Dragon ball Z got away with Gohan's (beep) on TOONAMI! ----reasons listed.

Visiting Forbidden Island for the first time didn't disappoint me at all when it comes to the atmosphere and the boss, as they were my favourite things from this island.
Yet, I am longed for something more, especially when I visit Forbidden Island afterwards. I also was half-expecting something to jump out of nowhere. Yet, nothing...
As for the naked scene: eh, it could've been a lot worse. Just had to make sure my parents won't suddenly walk into the lounge and that I would have to explain what the heck am I playing.
