I like the scenery of Forbidden Island after beating the boss there. Calm, yet still mysterious.

Maybe not, but when you have crazily overprotective parents you just can't afford to take any chances. And thanks for the clarification. Whenever I hear about some girl named Eur(e)eka this one's always the first thing that comes to mind, not that I'd look away any less quickly if she popped out of a floating diamond naked. I snorted when I saw that. Eureka's Castle!! Yay!! haha As for forbidden island, I wasn't really disappointed, because it was designed to be mysterious, but the game was really made for younger kids, and I knew that when I was playing it. They never would have made it more creepy then it already was, and I always resented that. The most they ever did with these games was create a soundtrack that was really scary at some parts, but it clashed with how the rest of the game played. It was always such a lighthearted adventure game sometimes. But you know, if they ever made an M version of this game, it would be phenomenal! There are sooooo many things about this game that could be scary. ruins... the reaverbots.... all the "dead" people on forbidden island... This is one of the few games I played for kids that somehow managed to make every scene almost non-threatening, but the IMPLICATIONS of the scene are scary as shit. Like the tower scene in the first one... hadn't he been stuck down there for like, 3 days? and that really scary reaverbot right at the end, pushing him off the tower? But it just ends with a jaunty "see ya!" Argh. Now that I think about it, a lot of the scenes are very anti climactic...

Now that I think about it, a lot of the scenes are very anti climactic... Coming to think of it, I don't remember any indication of him being 'down there for 3 days', and we were only given a vague idea of "for so long". As for being anti-climatic, I suppose it is because Capcom wanted to make this spin-off more kid-friendly. And in the context of attracting Playstation customers, it made perfect sense.

I thought the desolate landscape was very effective. I half-expected something to be there, but just looking at the "lack of something" moved me deep in my soul. It was like, so much wasted energy and resources. It just gave me a sense of the futility of the carbons' ambitions.

When I returned to Forbidden Island... I was disappointed for sure but then again think of it...
First if it wasn't Megaman that managed to cross the island I bet Sera would still be there. Don't ask me why. Second, the Island was started to be called Forbidden mostly because nobody there was able to come back, it's typical folklore that makes these things sound ominous when they actually aren't.
OFF-TOPIC huh.. you know. I'm positive about that after the Tutorial ruins in MML1, Megaman did said "three days", It might be just me but I can hear the VA saying that in my head.

Forbidden Island seemed to me to be a place where the final ruins of the game would be held, not the beginning. I liked the snowy scenery but I feel the "Calinca Overworld" music (other than being my most favorite track of the game) captured more of an ominous feeling than Forbidden Island.

To be fair, the Forbidden Island is supposed to be more chaotic (with the snowstorm going on, enemies in plain sight, etc).
The eerie feel of the "Calinca Overworld" works great because you can't tell if anything's going to come attacking you until they actually rise up from the ground, attack, and (if I remember right) scurry back down.

The second time I went there, it was pretty disappointing, considering how long the stage is. The stage set a pretty mysterious tone, and it is a good thing. But a random boss fight might have been better than just making Megaman walk through the stage for no reason. The first time time I went to the Forbidden Island, it was great. The only thing that bothered me was Sera's scene and the wolf reaverbot mini-boss. Sera's scene: It wasn't so much that Sera was naked, but her voice sounded so serious, and that she was talking about random stuff (that I initially didn't understand) to Geetz. It was also the fact that Megaman was completely ignored during the entire scene. Don't get me wrong. I thought the scene pretty much served its purpose, but the scene needed some more work for me to have taken it seriously(a naked Sera didn't help). Wolf reaverbot: It was a boss fight that was completely unnecessary. That is all.

I have a question about forbidden island. Are the people that are trapped in ice domes still there if you come back after rescuing Sera? I don't remember. In fact I might have never known in the first place!

Nope. Yuna's body, as well as all of the carbonsicles that were around her are gone during the revisit(s). Personally, I wonder where The Long Lost Brother of Bleucher wound up.
