Well, looks like "lack of content" is no longer an issue with UMvC3:
Looks like a new mode where you can collect cards and add different power-ups to your characters. In addition, there's another new mode that lets you play as Galactus!

Am I the only one quite underwhelmed for this game? The original MVC3 left me extremely disillusioned. I was furious when I found out that this was no more than a rushed out beta- Jill and Shuma-Gorath were already on the disc, but you had to buy the DLC in order to unlock them. To say nothing of the sputters and fumes this had, I was really disappointed at the tarnish this game had. This was all before the lack of a Mega Man incarnation, mind you. While I do like the fact that Strider Hiryu's back and that Firebrand's in UMvC3, I feel more inclined to get a used copy, if I decide to get the game at all.

Yeah, I was about to say, regardless of my aversion to Capcom, I'm simply not enthused for this game. Don't get me wrong, I like the MVC series, but the original MVC3 should have been what this is looking to be. And even then, it's fairly sparse on content.

The original MvC was one of my favorites, it's kinda sad to see how the level of quality has fallen with capcom, recently..
The only comfort I can take was that I only paid 30 bucks for MvC3, but I do feel sorry for the folks who paid extra for the so-called 'utimate edition' version.... having to pay $40 more for the completed version afterwards is the same as getting kicked in the teeth with a steel-toed boot.

Really, that's the only problem I have with MvC3; they pretty much had to rush the game out, so it was very minimalistic in terms of game modes. I mean, I can't really fault Niitsuma and his team for it, since the main Capcom office assigns these tight deadlines and all that. I mean heck, Niitsuma wanted 8 more characters in Ultimate, but due to time constraints he had to hold off on that. I feel like the real crime was charging a whopping $60 for the original version. Had Vanilla MvC3 been sold with a price tag of around $30-40, there'd be a much better reception.
I guess on the other hand, I like that technology in this day and age allows for expansion of games. Since SK confirmed that this is the last expansion of MvC3, any other tweaking will more than likely be done via DLC, free or otherwise. I also think that the character diversity is FAR better than that of MvC2. While MvC1 had multiple characters that all played differently, MvC2 had so much overlapping, and characters were overlooked for others who did their job but better. UMvC3 so far has every single character being a unique experience, and that's a feat given the high number of characters present.

Am I the only one quite underwhelmed for this game? The original MVC3 left me extremely disillusioned. Definitely not. I got the game for my birthday this year, played it for 4 days, unlocked the very few "secret" characters, and promptly stopped playing after that. As for Marvel versus Capcom 2, I played that for over half a year just trying to find what characters fit my style and unlocking not only the characters, but the art for the characters. The third game in no way measures up to the second in my opinion.

Am I free to say that Phoenix Wright is so OP on UMvC3?
Because by god, he really is.

Thing is, he's sub-par until he gets into turnabout mode. If he gets into that mode with 3 bars of super, it's pretty much a wrap for one of your characters. Seems like you'll have to get in his face to keep him from collecting evidence, although you've gotta watch out for Maya too.
Discuss:
While the authenticity of this is being debated, I have no problem believing that it could be potentially real. I had a feeling that Niitsuma's 8 missing characters were going to show up at some point, it was just a matter of when.
EDIT: Confirmed fake.

Hmm... Is it worth it trying to get the game?
As much as I want to get the game, I'm not sure if I want it anymore. It looks great and all... but all I wanted was MML 3...
Apart from THAT, The game doesn't seem to have much else to offer, just new characters and multiplayer. The only thing I find awesome about it was adding Zero, Phoenix Wright, Tron Bonne and Wesker to the game. Also it has great soundtracks.

I am interested in playing it, but I feel that I would be missing out without an arcade-styled joystick. Tried using the standard controls for playing fighting games, but it just feels out of place to me.
As for the DLC approach Capcom has been getting flames for, I would have to assume the consumers are not thinking this through enough.
Though "unlocking content already on the disc you bought by paying even more money" is understandably frustrating at face value, consider the following: As the extra content is already on the disc, it means you will not have your valuable non-swappable* HDD space taken up as a result. And even if the content is off the disc, what's to stop gamers from complaining about developers leaving the content off the disc on purpose? So even if on-disc DLC is abolished, does it really solve the root of the problem?
A related argument is open-source code; one can assume that because it's 'open source', it means it's free, right? By that argument, it means the Internet and ALL of its non-program-based services can be free. But clearly this shouldn't the case; as most of the payments go to services (e.g. web hosting, extra feature subscriptions, and so on).
In relation to the case of Capcom and their on-disc DLC, it's like paying for an optional service. Yes, the content is already on a disc you already bought, so you are easily compelled to think "I own this disc, therefore I own everything in it", but technically, you only own what you have access to; the code is still under the company's copyright, after all.
Besides, has it ever been proven that Capcom (in this case, CoJ) is solely responsible for making certain characters DLC ahead of schedule, or were they required to do so by the ones responsible for publishing on their respective consoles? I may not be a console software developer, but I will not be surprised if contracts to authorize sales of a game on a console has a 'minimum extended sales' requirement (i.e. DLC), much like how Sony required 3D games to be published for some time during the debut of the PS1.
* Assumptions: 1) No hardware modding has been performed, 2) Said hardware is a branded console and not a custom build
