Well that certainly adds an element of 'risk' to the usual Devroom proceedings, doesn't it? 0_o I would've thought that with Inafune's approval and a whole team already working on the game, an official announcement and a presence at gaming 'Cons, etc., that it was a sure thing- but this does give an interesting meaning to Inafune's reveal of the game just before he left... Weird to think that if Mr. Eguchi doesn't get approval at this meeting, all the work we've done in the last few months could be potentially wasted. We should definitely try to help him as much as possible if we want to see Legends 3...which shouldnt be hard for us.

So this means I actually have to join the DevRoom and start voicing my opinion?
Alright, I guess I can join up.

@ Guy: Oh, well duh. Of course they should've come clean with us from the start. People would've realized the importance of getting a lot of registered DevRoom servbots earlier, at least. @fatman: It sounds like they're just looking for numbers. It's definitely not a bad idea to build a rep there, though, especially if they have another event like the Bonne Mech contest where popularity does play a factor. And there may be Legends prizes up for grabs with those points down the line, too. And some of the people there are pretty cool. I've almost got 1k posts there myself. The rules on MMLS and the rules on CU have some key differences that anyone new to the Devroom should be aware of. Double-posting and short posting is allowed there. Responding using only images and memes is also kosher. Heavy swearing, advertising anywhere outside your sig and talking about anything remotely related to hacks and roms is not. The other rules are about the same as far as I know. One word of caution, though...their boards are slow, do not operate on bbcode, and they've got a couple of glitches, including one where all of their badges and smilies have to be about 20 px square. Hence why there has been no official implementation of the Capcom Unity Emotikobun. Figuring out where to get your sig put up is hard--there's a Forum Preferences link above the main page of every forum they have that's easy to miss. Also, their on-site image host is awkward and has a very low storage limit--it will shrink everything down so it fits within what I believe is a 500wx600h square, and give no opportunities for users to enlarge the image--tough when you have a lot of text in your images. I recommend using an outside host and ensuring that your image width is 500 pixels or less, linking to an enlarged view for convenience underneath it (haven't figured out how to link an image on CU yet). And if any of you want the official MMLS sig, it's here: [center][url=http://www.legends-station.com][img]http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a17/Dashechan/sigmmls1.gif[/img][/url][/center] Their sig field, oddly enough, is the only part of their forums that use the same bbcode we do, so copying and pasting that will actually work.

And if any of you want the official MMLS sig, it's here Assuming of course that we wouldn't summarily get the link removed for "advertising". They're rather draconian on that deal. Hi everyone. I'm in your thread, makin' the Zero lovers and the non-readers crap themselves. Fear me. Rawr. As far as the topic of the thread goes, this topic is roughly what was going through my head as I read that blog entry (Dashe thought of musicals and singing men first teehee). At first I was surprised to not see anyone talking about this fact over at the Devroom. Then I remembered which company's logo is emblazoned all over the damn place there. Herpdederp, silly me. Honestly though, seems a little more than asinine and a little less than promising that they threw all this stuff out there and they don't even know for sure that Capcom will sign off on it; for all we know, Capcom could turn around and go "Inafune is finally gone, that annoying idiot, now we can get rid of his stupid Legends project, or maybe we can make them put Zero and Bass and Protoman all in and use it as a platform for a brand new series: X-ZX!"

They haven't removed either of the links from my sig, or the link from #20's TRRL sig, or from any of the other linked fansite sigs I've spotted floating around the Devroom, so it's probably fine.

Honestly, I'm feeling similarly to that naive little boy I once was, sitting in the dentist's chair, with the same dentist from an hour ago, drilling on that same tooth.
"Don't worry, we're almost ready to go!" He says for the third time, and then he later comes clean and admits I have about 30 more minutes of drilling and filling to sit through, and I inwardly curse him for not just being blunt about it (no pun intended.)
Of course, I consider this whole "Eguchi going for the green light thing" to be on a whole nother scale. Now I'm feeling a whole new anxiety different from that decade long wait, here we are, so close, yet possibly so far away. Time to pray, everyone.

Based on Kinako's latest blog post, I get the feeling that this event isn't as big as Eguchi's making it out to be. The fact that everyone involved is wearing costumes almost makes it seem more like a mockery of a real staff meeting- perhaps this is just a publicity stunt for the Devroom, and not a 'real' greenlighting per se? Like, the real greenlighting happened a long time ago and this is just a recreation for the Devroom, maybe? *shrug* : o

I honestly think that those "costumes" are photoshopped on--if you check the sharpness of their faces relative to Eguchi's, you'll notice that his image blends in much better with the room's lighting, and not so for the other guys. It's definitely a possibility that they'd be messing with us, but it's going to be harder for Eguchi to get away with beating around the bush after his big blog entry on resolve.

@ General Specific: Beating around the bush is a common business tactic in Japan as their culture finds it rude to be direct regardless of context. I hope I am wrong.

If they've already got pictures of the showdown with the execs posted, there is a very, VERY good chance it's already happened. Those two Kinako entries looked like they were from the same meeting, which means the information she's giving us is actually at least a few days behind schedule. The only question remaining is whether the meeting Eguchi dressed up for is the meeting he said was going to be on the 22nd of February in his last blog. Assuming, of course, that Kinako isn't just a CoJ mascot like Aunt Jemima.

This whole thing is pretty bizarre. It seems very unlikely to me that they would have built up so much hype and have gone so far with the Devroom if they weren't near-100% certain that the game would be made, if not now than later with a resubmission. The fact that they went so far as to make the contests international further cements that belief, at least for me. Public relations aside, Capcom going to this much trouble for something so uncertain just doesn't make sense.

It does seem ridiculous for them to cancel at this point, but I wouldn't put it past them. Big companies sometimes cancel things waay into production.

See Earthbound 64/Mother 3 for further details. Half-jokes aside, though, if they've gone to the trouble of casting and recording (at least) Aero in English, there is a pretty good chance it very well might just be an act. Which, as nice as having Legends 3 guaranteed would be, would also suck, because it would mean that even the Devs' attempt to be honest about their situation with us...isn't. :15: Usually when people dub, it's after the original language recording's already in and finalized--hence why George Masswohl had to look at the animation for Gramps as he was recording his dialogue. He and the directors had to make sure it fit. Unless they're doing separate animations for the English and Japanese lines, so timing out translations isn't an issue, and neither track is a dub? If that's the case, then they are definitely going to a lot of trouble for a game that hasn't been entirely confirmed.

Mother 3 wasn't cancelled though, Dashe, it eventually came out for the Game Boy Advance. And then the Starman.net fanbase was thrilled when Tomato came through with a fan translation. Your half-joke isn't all accurate. XD
I'll try to support a Legends 3 as much as I can. Either by spreading the word with my friends and family's help, or by some other way. I've done it before, so I can keep doing it.
Also, this damned Capcom-Unity account keeps wanting me to punch in my settings. Can't I just skip the blog and stuff, put on a picture and signature, and get down to business?
