Hey, check it out. The results are in: Aero is Aero again. Sweet. GregaMan's pulling his weight over there already. XD I would've been satisfied either way, and I was more than happy to hear that they at least wanted to ask our opinion on that one, but I'd still like to know the real explanation for the change in the first place. And I don't think that's ever going to happen. But still.. awesome! And for those of you that preferred Sephira... err... sorry?

I have to say, I'm rather glad she's Aero again. If her color was Blueish instead of Pinkish, it'd have made far more sense to me. :22:

Yeeeeee-haaaaaaw!!! >:] WE TOTALLY STUCK IT TO THE MAN!
Actually, I'm really, really surprised they went through with changing it back. And very pleased, too.

Good, and now this thread shall be forever abandoned! Mwahahahahaha! But really I'm glad Aero is Aero. Also, the spellchecker thought Aero was supposed to be Afro, what do you say about giving her an afro and reunrenaming her Afro? Don't answer that.

I'm happy that they have changed her name to Aero, as it suited her quite well. While Sephira's a pretty name, I don't really think it suited her.

It's so obvious Greg really wanted Aero and I'm glad he actually did push for it as much as he did, it might have been a bit trivial, but come on, if a lot of people wanted the name, then given the fact they said they were going to be "listening to us." Then they have to back it up, and I'll admit I was wrong in thinking they weren't going to do that.
^^;
Also soooo happy I can call her Aero!

Hey, guys, in this massive blog post they've explained why Aero's name was initially changed for localization! It's...actually quite anticlimactic for the amount of time they've dodged the subject. "...There are times when we choose not to change names. Our new heroine, Aero, was one such case. Since her design gave off a sort of “light, breezy” vibe, Director Eguchi gave her the name Aero. But then it turned out that in America, Aero is actually a name for males. It’s a particularly uncommon name, so probably not that many people would have noticed it was a boy’s name, but for awhile we were thinking of changing her name to “Sephira”—meaning “Western Wind”—for the English version. But in light of the popular opinion amongst the North American Devroom users, as well as Director Eguchi’s desire to keep the two versions as similar as possible, we ended up sticking with “Aero” for the English version in the end." It's nice to know Eguchi wants to keep the two versions similar, too.

It would probably have to be anticlimactic considering how easily they backpedaled on it. I never did buy that "sounds more like a boy's name" argument. Video game character names are so far beyond cultural norms, that consideration is practically quaint.

Hopefully this will help grease the developers wheels when it comes to things like this in the future.

I would've pointed this out too, 'cept I forgot where this thread was. :37: At any rate, it's nice to finally know why it was changed; Aero is such an uncommon name to begin with, and looking through a few 'baby names' databases, most of them don't even recognize it. >_< There probaly wouldn't have been a problem if they'd just decided to keep Aero from the get-go, but it's still nice to see that Eguchi and co. are putting some research and effort into the development.
