I was bored, so it's time for an all-time favorite. I did a little forum digging on Sera and I found the "Boss Analysis" (naturally) and some other thread by somebody who apparently never took Grammar... So I decided to feature the video in my own thread. Anyway, this is my latest battle against Sera on my VH file. (haven't done it too many times before, I'll bet it shows.) I personally had NO idea the fried chicken was there, but believe me when I say I had NO intention of using the Picnic Lunch. I'm pretty weird, to save up cash as best I can throughout the gameplay just so I have a "decent" shining laser by the end, and boy. It sure wasn't easy in VH mode... (This file was also from my first playthrough on VH as well) But yeaaah. Criticism, comments, compliments, and all the other "C" words are open. Hope you enjoy. www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5btM32hAko&safety_mode=true&persist_safety_mode=1Update on Sera after a couple suggestionswww.youtube.com/watch?v=OimUtAA2iDkSera Battle - The Gold Missile Edition[/u] www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WxXc4d5boEChristmas Special, and a look behind the sceneswww.youtube.com/watch?v=NE5QPICukCsLatest Release:Sera Battle - The Platinum Buster Edition[/u] Interesting Notes and discoveries - I ended the (first) fight with one of the closest calls one can ever imagine. One more second into the fight and Megaman would have been roasted...
- Armored Sera is actually much weaker around her skirt than her chest.
- Sky Forme Sera's Double TeamTM is actually REPLACED with her Dark Hole skill at below half health.
- Armored Sera does NOT in fact, spam the gravity bombs. She is rather FORCED to spam them, depending on the rate at which her health drops. She uses each wave of Gravity bombs 3 times, once at 3/4ths of her health, another at 1/2, and the last at 1/4th. If you focus on the health bar in the buster video, you can tell what I mean.
What's a "guild exam"?

Crikey! Not bad...
That was a close call there. I almost didn't expect you to make it. You really should work on not getting hit; some of those attacks can be tricky to dodge, but a few of the times you got hit seemed to be just carelessness. It's pretty impressive that you pulled that one off without any armor, but if you're going to attempt that, it's hardly appropriate to be so reckless! Although you did keep the healing down to a minimum. Kind of. So that's pretty cool.
Neat idea. Pretty good execution too. Out of curiosity, what did you use to film this?

It was Hypercam 2. The internet is full of awesome free things, yah just gotta know where to look.
And yeah. The sound was recorded with the built-in Microphone of the laptop, and the sound was boosted with Vegas. I don't think it turned out all that bad.
Most of me getting hit WAS carelessness. That round Sera tended to enjoy using meteors fer some reason... And I was browsin around and found some thread mentioning the Hyper Shell was some-what good to use as well. I might just try speed-running another VH with some new MMLS knowledge in mind. (Who wants to farm zenny on VH anyway, lets jus play it!) ;D
EDIT: Ehh... I can share where I got the "free registered" Hypercam if you want. I wonder if she still has that file up...

Why not just get it from the HyperCam website? :22: Impressive video. I've personally never had the patience to do a complete Very Hard run. To be honest, seeing videos of it hasn't done much to encourage me. :06:

Right! See, that's the thing. I paid a quick visit to the link you shared, and I recognized it right away. Unless they changed things, that website only gives out the "unregistered" version. Registering it is supposed to cost money, BUT the link that I have has an already-registered version. What's the difference, you might ask? Take a quick look at this old dinosaur of a video of mine, and you'll notice an ugly little tag in the far upper left corner of the video, showing that the Hypercam is unregistered. And also do a small comparison between the Sera video and this RS video and you'll see the quality of the Sera video is far superior. As for VH mode, yes. The Rush Mammu and Tron battle in the beginning WILL take some work (and time, due to the buster gun having terrible parts in the beginning), but it's not so bad after that. But I really have no place to speak. I had to use save states because it's so hard. :21: It's entirely doable if you keep at it long enough, though. And from skipping most of the cutscenes, I'm currently at the Nino Islands at 01: 08 :45 in time, ready to fight the bird bots... I'm already dreading the size Glyde's ship's HP bar... Have to give the machine gun arm some steroids before I could ever do it on my Shining Laser File... :23: EDIT: LOL my time turned into an emoticon, so I had to put spaces between it. 01:08:45

Talk about Laser abuse on Sera here...
Very impressive skills you have. And what a rush you do at the menus.. O.o Can't even see what are you doing.

It appears I've left out a bunch of stuff I should have put in the first post. >.>
Reason why I was trying to scroll through the menus so fast (and failing) was because I wanted the cutscenes to have enough time to show. Lol
And- Thanks. Sera returned the favor by lasering me back... Twice (3 times if you count the "laser labyrinth" as i call it). Now that I take another look at that, I realize I did pretty well for someone who got smacked by it twice... and lived. O.o

(Who wants to farm zenny on VH anyway, lets jus play it!) Hahahahahah.... funny you should mention that. (← Although that doesn't really count, you see...) Most of me getting hit WAS carelessness. That round Sera tended to enjoy using meteors fer some reason... Are the meteors hard to dodge? I don't think I've ever had trouble with those, even from when I first played. ; Just gotta keep moving. This is something I've always noticed in Hypercam videos online. That unsightly watermark and poor video quality always made me wonder why people would bother to use such a silly program. Looking at your video, I can tell that having the “registered” one really makes a difference. That said, I think Tau was asking why you don't just buy the program. (But I'm sure you could find a 100%, no-strings-attached, free and open-source program for that now) Sera returned the favor by lasering me back. Hah. If you try doing that battle with something other than the Shining Laser, Sera will get to laser you a lot more than twice! But, still, that attack is pretty devastating without armor, isn't it? Wow. :18: As for VH mode, yes. The Rush Mammu and Tron battle in the beginning WILL take some work (and time, due to the buster gun having terrible parts in the beginning), but it's not so bad after that. Rush Mammoo is, hands down, the most difficult boss in the game when you play on Very Hard mode. It's sadistic; it's like they planned it to be that way. That battle's probably turned away many aspiring SS-Licensed diggers and sent them back to the comfort and safety of the S-License, or maybe even just the A-License... The first battle against Tron is a tough one too, but by then you can have Homing Missiles and all the time in the world to upgrade them, unless you're speed-running. EDIT: Here's a topic you might like.

It is indeed registered by default. It would seem that HyperCam 3 is the one you have to pay for now. Second, sharing files that are supposed to cost money is kinda illegal, and according to rule #4, that's not allowed around here. Clearly that's not the case here, since the program is free now, but I would recommend caution in the future.

That save file sounds pretty interesting... But I'd rather show the world what I'm capable of on my own. *stares @ the file glass case* Nah, the meteors aren't hard to dodge, I think it was more along the lines of me being distracted by Sera and the camera angle being tilted... lol I blush. >_> BUY? OMG. When "free files" exist in the world, eh......! I'm zipping my lips. Yep, I feel that when I try using the Hypershell, I'm gonna get lasered a ton. Just look @ How this guy did.*shudders at the thought of Glyde's ship's HP bar again* EDIT: I love Hypercam2, so I guess it's a good thing that HC3 doesn't spark any interest. >_>

Hah, yeah your feet are totally nailed to the ground when you use the Hyper Shell. I've gotten a lot better since that run, though.
Yours wasn't too bad, you just need to get used to dodging her attacks. Honestly once you figure out the methods behind her attacks she's not all that bad. The meteors are actually something you want to her to do, as she leaves herself wide open and it's easy enough to run away from. The only real problem is the black hole, which can really mess you up if you stray too close.

LOL really? That's much more abuse than the Shining Laser I was using! But yeah. You make it look like a real cakewalk. I find that almost impossible to believe...

Not a bad run at all.
A couple of criticisms. At about 2:30 in the vid, it wasn't actually necessary for you to Roll Dodge to avoid Sera's ground stomp. The ground stomp isn't able to hit you when Sera's away from you at a distance as great as that, so just keep on lasering.
Also, I've noticed in the first portion of the fight, that you preferred to stay in one corner of the arena. Don't be afraid to fight from a closer range. Alot of her attacks are more easily evaded this way, and limiting yourself to one corner of the room sets you up to receive damage when Sera teleports closer to your position and uses either her Yellow orbs of energy or her gravity stomp with the mines.
Also, try not to rely on the Shining laser "too" much, since it leaves you rather immobile and open to damage whenever you attack. Part of what makes a high-quality fight is receiving as little damage as possible while dishing out as much damage as you can.
In Sera's second form, it seems you may have had a bit of trouble dodging her sweeping laser. Two methods of evading this are either roll dodging the moment it sweeps by to hit you, or to evade it as it sweeps by and quickly jump over and underneath it. It should avoid you on the return sweep as long as you don't jump.
The battle is pretty tough at first, but once you get used to the technique of dodging each of her attacks, it becomes a rather formulaic battle.
I've been able to defeat both forms of Sera on Very Hard mode without using any life upgrades, life refills, armor, or special weapons. Nothing but a buster with Max Attack and upgraded rapid on the first form, and Max attack and upgraded range on the second, and even now, I still can't walk away from that battle without a scratch unless I resort to a special weapon of some sort, in which case, the battle ends much more quickly depending on which weapon I bring and how upgraded it is.
Overall, it just takes a little bit of getting used to. I suggest you try fighting her with only your buster, and experiment with different ways of dodging her attacks. Once you've gotten that down, fighting her with special weapons will be a cinch.

Funny you should mention all of that. I'm actually uploading a new video for show as we speak... Quite a bit of that I learned just by fooling around. I'll give more details as soon as it's ready, should be around 10-20 minutes. A lot of your suggestions I learned on my own. O.o I did try using busters on Normal-Mode Sera, but once I discovered the Shinin' Laser, I essentially just stopped with the buster all together, except for "Emergencies" and "Energy Saving" I like my corner btw. I found that the only thing that ever threatens me in my corner is Sera using her missiles at near-point-blank range. If she tries sniping with them, they're easy to dodge. :22: I probably should have mentioned I was working on it, but hey, Merry Christmas!

Cool, can't wait to see it. And yeah, the laser speeds up things quite a bit. It takes a bit longer with just the buster, but it's still my preferred weapon of choice, like an old buddy. =p And isn't it a little early for Christmas?
