Please do so. You weren't helping either, but let's just return to the topic here.
So, we have three types of NPC, and I'm already seeing cliched entries for the Mysterious Old Man. Grrrreat.

Honestly I like to think of him as a kindly old man, but a bit grumpy, someone you have to warm up to.

I was kind of hoping this event would be bigger. The four characters look great, but I was expecting something massive, with so many NPCs that dozens of people would have a shot at winning. That was probably a bit much to expect though, I guess.
I'm also just a bit let down that it's being held at the forums again. I wish they'd separate the official events from the forums... but that's just for personal reasons.
But I have to say, all in all I like the scale of this event. I don't think I'm going to be contributing anything though. I'm not terribly great at this sort of thing. (I really wish I were..) But I'd be happy to proofread anybody's descriptions/etc. Hope you guys will post yours here, so I don't have to follow you on Unity. :06: And yeah... this should be interesting. (but not as interesting as the Bonne Mech event — go Seeteufel!)

Well at least it's something right? Really I wouldn't care if they just made all the NPC's, but never the less it's still pretty cool, I trust the MML fanbase.
My entry in the works. Old man Name: Chuck Beezle An experienced digger, Chuck has traveled the world by boat, digging in any ruin he has found. Although he has enjoyed his life as a digger he discourages young people from choosing that life, for all the things he has given up for it. He is a kind man, and provides wisdom to any new digger who needs it. Although he is getting on in years he still wanders into the ruins from time to time, but he knows his limitations and will not venture into the larger ruins.
Memorable line: Digging isn't everything kid. Don't give up those who are important to you just for some silly treasure.
What do you guys think?

Dang it.....this 100 word limit is going to kill me....
First Entry! Tell me what you'll think!
Male Digger
Name: Richie (I'm thinking of changing his name to Zenny. Any opinions on that?)
Character Description:
Richie’s a spoiled kid from two generations of famous and wealthy diggers. Being raised in a mansion free of responsibility, he never had to deal with the dangers of digging until the day his father never came back from his last dig. Being the eldest brother out of a family of two younger sisters, it’s now his responsibility to take on the family name and start his own legacy in the world of digging or risk ruining his family name and bankrupting his family’s wealth. Whether or not he can live up to that legacy remains to be seen though.
Character's Memorable Quote:
Every refractor in my sight automatically belongs to me and my investments.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Female Digger
Name: Nirali
Character Description:
Being raised on a ranch, Nirali grew up expecting to provide the food for Klickelan Island. As she grew, she saw what to her were fearless adventurers risking their lives for their dreams and families. This type of romantic living called to her despite her responsibility to her family's farm. She eventually confessed her desires to her parents when it came time to for her to take over the farm. In the end, they decided she could dig as long as she brought a profit. The duties of caring for the farm was passed down to her three younger brothers.
Character's Memorable Quote:
I really love digging! And I will do whatever I am capable of to continue digging! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mysterious Old Man
Name: Pick
Character Description:
Pick is the old man who everyone knows yet nobody knows anything about him. He's been around the town longer than most people can remember. These days, he can be found wandering around the town and eating at the restaurants. It is unknown how much zenny he possesses, but he makes a habit of skipping out on any meals he's supposed to pay for. While he may seem mean-spirited, nobody knows more about Klickelan island than him, and he is always willing to offer advice to young and new diggers.....for a small fee of course.
Character's Memorable Quote:
New diggers are a wonderful sight to see. I would not be able to pay for my residence otherwise.

What's neat about this event, to me, is that it seems the engine is largely done. As far as it relates to speaking to NPC and examining objects. They just told us exactly the amount of text that fits into one window. It seems they don't want players to press "X"(or "B" on the 3DS) as much, so they want to keep it all on one page. Also, I think the male and female digger look awesome. Leave it to Legends to have NPC that look more interesting than most games protagonist. One thing about the female digger though, it seems the concept artist really wanted the 3D modeler to get the boobs correct I'm personally at a loss for what to wright. I really want to participate(to show my support) but I have now freaking clue what to write. I guess I'll just wait a bit and see if something comes to me.

Okay. I went ahead and posted my entries in the contest forum. I figured the sooner, the better. I think I personally like my 'Male Digger' description the best.
Hm. Sounds good. It looks like you're going for the wise old man role that regrets some of his life. You also have to split the second line into a third line for it be entered. Do you want me to proofread it for you?

That was probably a bit much to expect though, I guess. I had the exact same impression, but I guess a lot of other people did as well. These things are getting me more and more excited. The Bonne Mecha event was fun, and I enjoyed voting, but it was still a bit boring for me since I couldn;t submit anything. I'm a more literary person, so writing (although I am still a very amateur one) is more enjoyable since I can at least be implicated. A lot of the submissions seem like they're going to trump mine (including hirovoid and loken, really nice work, guys!), but it's still going to be fun to try. Oh! And I will definitely be posting my description as soon as I post it in the Devroom (I just literally got the news right now).

I was hoping to add more quirks like Richie opening up his jacket to show the BEST and LATEST tech in Digging technology! He also has a tendency to get hospitalized and having his tech broken which results in having to spend more money. I imagined Nirali taking a horde of her animals with her into ruins stampeding over any reaverbot that gets in her way! I think I actually got all the info I wanted for the old man since I didn't want to go into background since he's mysterious, so I got most of his behavior quirks in there.

I personally tried to give all of my characters a humorous side, so they could have a cliche side while still being unique.

Yeah. I guess you can go ahead and post it over there. I wanted to post all of mine at once. I'll probably do the lines part of the contest tomorrow.

Hey Loken, what, specificially, has Chuck had to give up in life for digging? I'm pretty good at condensing words and getting the most information out of the fewest words possible. Hiro, I like your personality blurbs a lot, but your quotes are kind of reading off like something out of an instruction manual or a research paper than something that would actually come out of someone's mouths. Did you write your sentences all in one line or did you break them up into the three lines from the start? The guys both sound a little too formal (even the rich kid), and with the girl I think if you condensed it into one sentence, like "I really love my job, and I'll do whatever I can to keep digging!" It'd read off a lot more naturally. Just my two cents on it. Sorry I didn't get to reading through these earlier on.
