Definitely looks like a single-island approach...but I think there's still a possibility for some intra-island travel. Not to the MML2 extent where every leg of the journey is on another island, but maybe two or three islands with the Kattelox level of depth. That may sound like a bit much to expect, but it's a nice amount to hope for.
Finally went and registered at the JP Devroom as I immediately reagarded the island/town names with skepticism ("Sephira" has earned them continuing vigilance of my name-change-alert device). So far so good, as Clickelan and Teomo started as Kurikaran and Teomo. So that sounds about right. Though now I'm wondering if the names are references to anything or if they were random nonsense words the devs just blurted out during the brainstorming session.

That seals it for me: they use prostheses in everyday life. How fantastic. And on the subject of the rest of the stuff, we've received more hints to the great calamity--of course, saying that it came about either through war or weather is still pretty ambiguous. I am just going to bet that they're going with the one island approach for this game, and I'm really excited about this new Teomo City. It looks fantastic, like a bundle of fun and memories of Kattelox, and the island looks simply spectacular. Great to see the fruition of that 3D model we saw at NYCC.
I'll need to get crackin' on my Type 1 submissions, and maybe a Type 2.

we've received more hints to the great calamity--of course, saying that it came about either through war or weather is still pretty ambiguous. They say flat out "it doesn't matter", that doesn't say "hint" so much as "we're not giving any hints and we never will, seriously, stop thinking about it, it's completely irrelevant to the story".

You don't know that--they'll eventually have to reveal it sometime in the later part of the story, and they can't have us speculating upon it right now. Right now, though, it doesn't matter.

This is so cool, I took the time and read it all and I'm quite releved and excited. It seems like everything we have been waiting for. I'm glad things have turned out this way, I had a vague feeling they might would ruin the game(pun possibly intended ), but I feel quite confident in the project now. I'll be sure to think up some good stuff for this tomorrow.

Blues That's exactly how I felt when I read it. And I totally wasn't expecting it when I heard what that article was. I was expecting some really crappy description of the Legends universe that had all kinds of errors that was written up by some random member on the forums who doesn't know nothing about nothing when I saw they'd put up a guide to the World of MegaMan Legends. It caught me completely off guard in the best possible way. :13: Musashi Yeah, it's nice to finally have some clarification about bodily modifications in the Legends world. A lot of things make much much better sense now that we know that it's just commonplace for these sorts of things to happen. Raijin I really hope they'll stick with the one island approach with any other islands only used for small side things. I'm thrilled to hear we've gotten the actual names on this side, although I can only say for how long. You never know; they may pull a random change right in the middle of things, exactly like they did with Aero. @general Specific and Raijin I like how they're basically dismissing the cause of whatever put the world of endless water, err... endlessly underwater. Legends has enough of its own major plot points to deal with, and whatever caused the world to flood is probably best left to the ending of another series. Or something. I dunno.

Nope, I don't think they ever have to go into that detail, and yes, they can have us speculating upon it forever. Who even said it was a "calamity"? We don't even know whether or not Terra is actually earth or some similar colonized planet. How the current geology came to be would barely be worth mentioning if not for the retcon that loosely shoehorned Legends into the Classic continuity. Even with it there, the vast time interval makes dwelling on the origins of Terra as relevant as explaining the Ice Age in the context of a World War II documentary.

Very true Raijin, Legends really doesn't NEED to fill that gap, and like Pitch said it might be better for a game like ZX to explain what happened

It's either this or ZX. Something as sudden as a massive flooding of Terra, leaving only 10% land left, would be pretty catastrophic. And knowing anything, the Elder System had to have had a reason for all of those now-ruins in the first place. But I've made my points distinct from others, I guess.

Um, can we still use this to point out things from Kinako's blog? Well, remember when she pointed out the fact that the Clozer Woods are named after the planner of MML1, Shin Kurosawa? Well, apparently, these facts have been released before, and #20 of the Reploid Research Lavatory had the scoop. According to what he's learned: -The Cardon Forest (カードンの森, or Kaadon no mori)was named after engine designer and animator Kazunori Kadoi. - Lake Jyun ( ジュウイン湖, or Juuin-ko) is named after the head programmer of MML1, Masaru Ijuin. -And the Yass Plains (ヤスの草原, or Yasu no sougen) are named after Masahiro Yasuma. The information may be a little old, but I thought you guys would like to know.

It left evidence, that's for certain. Thoe most I would want them to do at all, though, is to leave subtle hints throughout the earliest and deepest of the Elder System ruins, hinting to just what happened back then (presuming that the Terrans post-calamity built what are now the Elder System ruins). You'd never get the fullest picture of what happened, but it would be something to think about and would make you think.
Either way, I'm already seeing some cookie-cutter submissions over at CU for the new event, mostly for Type 1. It's probably going to be the more important event of the two.

Pitch had a suggestion that the ruins should have writing on the walls, maybe that way they could point out hints.

That's what I was thinking of. Scanning data a la Metroid Prime would be interesting as well, allowing you to get closer looks at the images.

maybe, but do you think we should start this conversation over in the new post?
