Hear me out. The Dev Room over at Capcom-Unity has it pretty much explained. Most on the forums over there seem to think it's all a metaphor for the creation of MML3. But in my opinion, I think what we're getting is MML2.5. The reason it's closely developed with the fans is to build interest in the Project. But basically, we're forming the "inbetween" story of MML2 and MML3. Which would also explain why it was announced for the 3DS, as most side-games are. It's my belief that this is NOT MML3, but a lead-up to it instead. If this is the case, then we would definitely be seeing the actual MML3 on a console release, instead of handheld. But honestly, there isn't enough info out right now to really determine if this is fact or complete BS. Personally? I hope this is the case. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the MML series. But I do NOT love handhelds. 3DS may be "amazing" and everything, but it's still a handheld. Anyways, feel free to speculate, I'd like to know what you guys think of this. I see no reason why MML3 couldn't be on a handheld. Paper Mario's doing their sequel on the 3DS as well, and their last game was on the Wii. It's also kind of hard to say that this is a lead-up when we don't even know the plot yet. If Capcom states that this is MML3, then I believe that we're getting a true blue sequel.

Except they haven't exactly said that this is MML3. The Mega Man Legends 3 PROJECT is what it's been announced as, which doesn't necessarily mean that this is MML3. I dunno, maybe I'm thinking too deep into it. >.>
And there's nothing wrong with a handheld release...for most people. Birth by Sleep? FF:Dissidia? Both would've been so much better on console. I guess my issue with a handheld release is space. They have 2gbs they can mess around with. Now compared to the Dual Layered Blu-Ray discs the PS3 can use? There's a significant amount of difference.
Now, this isn't to go without saying I'll never pick up the 3DS. I'll blow my money on it just so I can play MML.

I really, really, really hope that you're wrong. I think it's still too soon to tell, though. Seems like a bit of a stretch to me.

On multiple occasions, Mazakazu Eguchi has called himself "the director of Mega Man Legends 3".
I seem to remember Inafune saying something like "Finally, the third installment to the series!".
Yuji Ishihara has introduced himself as "the art director for Mega Man Legends 3".
The heroine poll is called "the Mega Man Legends 3 Heroine Contest".

Basically what Cleveland said. If you are correct, then there are a lot of very confused Capcom people right now. It's possible, but I see absolutely no reason to not believe that this is the real deal.

Not really raising any valid points; it's pure bias. Like, I don't personally like this system, therefore the developers must not have intended for it to be a sequel. Well, everything's still up in the air at this point, so it's not like you couldn't be right. But I think your reasons for believing that are a little silly. EDIT- My bad, I overlooked that smidgen of your post about "Project" subtitle and new heroine. Basically I agree with Buster on this one.

I think can see what you're getting at.. All this talk about metaphors and rocketships, and now they're showing a new heroine for some reason. I kind of figured there might be a connection there, between gettting MegaMan back and this new heroine. And the other day, they kind of teased that Tron might be playable. (They “couldn't say” if she's playable) I dunno. The more I think about it, the more I think it could end up that this whole game/project ends up being literally about getting MegaMan back from space, which would basically be MegaMan Legends 2.5. And that would disappoint me a great deal. But it's too soon to be making these kinds of assumptions, really. We know so little so far. It's just something I'm worried about. And yeah, most of your idea just seems to be 3DS hate. Get over it, man.

I'm actually really, REALLY happy this is on a Nintendo System. I was already pissed when I found out Legends 2 was a Playstation game, not ALSO Gamecube, just Playstation. I'm really really really happy it's on a System I was going to buy anyway! ;D

Gamecube? Dude, Gamecube is from an entirely different generation from Playstation. :06: That's a weird complaint.

Unless I'm mistaken, 'Mega Man Legends 3 Project' refers to the fan interaction of the development process itself. The ultimate goal of the project is the completion of Legends 3.

The biggest thing the last two weeks have taught me is to expect the unexpected. At this rate I don't think anything Capcom does can surprise me anymore. :06:

Don't tempt fate, Miss Dash. Don't tempt it!
Anyway, I'm actually excited to see this go on the 3DS. Seeing all of my favorite characters jump off the screen is going to be awesome, and I'm sure it will please all of those Roll and Tron fans to be able to take them on the go.

Traingham, you wouldn't believe how hard I've been trying not to blurt out anything that might accidentally come true again. Back in August I PM'd fab a joking quip about getting all our names in the credits for waiting this long. :x I'm sure I'd mentioned it around Pitch a few times too. Maybe I ought to just stop posting anything other than "this game is going to be well worth waiting ten years for" at this rate. EDIT: And you forgot the Teisel fans! I want my Teisel-on-the-go, too!
