@bustercannon Still, I wonder if they don't do like half of that for opponents. Same thing with Poison, really. >__< Clair just beat the &^%÷ out of my Pokémon. Her Kingdra has a double type-advantage against my Typhlosion. Hydro Pump'd him straight to oblivion. >__< I need to train. @ShiftSlash That's impressive... o___o I still have so much left to do. I'm really dragging it out; though. I'm somewhere around 76-78 hours. >__<

I picked up HeartGold yesterday and I'm enjoying the trek. I've done nothing exciting compared to half of the folks here..... I just finished Sprout Tower and I'm training my motley crew before taking on Falkner..

Claire is a b*tch; only trainer I've had to use items to combat (couple of hyper potions for my Feraligator and Gyrados). But I still managed to beat her on my first try.
And just now, I caught Ho-oh! Used my masterball, because I kept accidently killing it when I tried whittling its health down.

Just caught Lugia with one of those Heavy Balls!! Man, those are useful. I guess I'm off to go try my hand at beating the Elite Four.
Clair just beat the &^%÷ out of my Pokémon. Her Kingdra has a double type-advantage against my Typhlosion. Hydro Pump'd him straight to oblivion. >__< I need to train. If you still have that Dragonair, I'd recommend using it on her Kingdra, as it's only weakness is Dragon. I pretty much beat her (and her entire Gym) with Feraligatr's Ice Fang and Jolteon's Thundershock.
Also, you just called Slash 'Shift'! XD

@captain Amadeus: False Swipe is your best friend, in that case.
I partook in the Bug Catching contest yesterday for the first time, and never have I stunk so badly at it. I only managed to catch a lvl. 17 Weedle that poisoned my Mareep, which ended up being killed by a Butterfree after having kept 1 HP. I tell you...
I caught a Sudowoodo though! Silly me, I tried using a Heavy Ball on it, not realizing that physics in the Pokémon world are grossly unbalanced and not having seen that he weighs only 83 pounds (practically as much as my character).

Also, you just called Slash 'Shift'! XD ANDYMAN sent out Dragonair! Gym Leader Clair's Kingra used Dragon Pulse! Dragonair fainted... (in one hit!) The problem with type advantages is they work both ways. (Dragon vs. Dragon anyway) Also, my Dragonair doesn't have any real Dragon type moves, other than Dragon Rage. Twister would've been "super effective!" but that still would've been very little damage. (EDIT: Now has Draco Meteor! But she's not fast enough; Kingdra will get the first attack and one-hit KO her still) Actually Clair's earlier Pokémon managed to whittle me down by using Dragon Rage repeatedly. >__< Anyway, I like to only use my starter for the Gyms. He's usually great for them, even with a type disadvantage. Flamethrower has, time and time again, wiped out Pokémon with type-advantages in one shot. (Including all the Dragon trainers in Clair's gym — except maybe one) I <3 my Typhlosion. EDIT He now has Eruption and Blast Burn which should be pretty helpful. Same-type attack bonus plus the effects of Charcoal mean these attacks should do decent damage; if not he also learned Double Edge. Anyhow I raised him five levels or so in the Ice Path (>: D), so I think I can do this now. Unfortunately I can't do this now, because I have homework. >___< ∗runs off∗ (EDIT: is about ten levels now; maybe more) And yeah, I knew I accidentally called Slash something else, but I didn't have time to fix it at the time; I shouldn't have rushed to type that in. >__< (Sorry, Slash) False Swipe is great. ... that's all I got. EDIT: I got my Jolteon! Having a small hang-up getting Espeon; I may not have time to do that one for a while.. >___< EDIT: Now I've got a good Eevee for the job. I probably won't be able to get her evolved 'til tomorrow, though.

xD I just noticed that Green called me 'Shift'...well it's because I'm at home all of the time and have a lot of free time. I posted my friend code and is willing to do trades and battles. To say, I am not a great battler so my team won't be powerful.
It's okay, Green, xD I been called many things before.

Well, I managed to pound the Elite 4 flat today! This generation really did have the easiest Elite 4 battle; not a single Pokemon in my party exceeded Level 50 and yet I was able to beat them without too much trouble.
I'm currently on the S.S. Aqua fighting different trainers while en-route to Kanto.

Current Team: Typhlosion LV. 71 Leafeon LV. 38 Pupitar LV. 39 Honchkrow LV. 40 Snorlax LV. 50 Beedrill LV. 25
I have been thinking, should I switch Snorlax out for a water type?

Late reply that's going to be confusing in structure for no reason coming up!
I bought HeartGold on launch, but didn't start it until a week later as I was replaying Ace Attorney Investigations. However, once I finally forced myself to put that game down, I was hooked on HeartGold. It's a shame I don't have much time to play, because I'm craving for more.
As I've said before (I think), Gold was my favourite Pokemon game along with Yellow, and one of my favourite games of all time. Ever since my internal battery died on my Gold version, I've been hoping it would be remade. So even before playing, I knew I would love these remakes. And after playing for 14 hours, I can say with even more certainty that I love this game. I was kind of iffy about the remixed music at first, but I've grown to like them a lot. A lot of the tunes are catchy, and I find myself just standing idle listening to them.
Progress wise, I just defeated Morty for my fourth badge. I like the way the characters look when they do a close up on them, like when you're against your rival or a gym leader and the "vs" thing pops up. They look much better than they did in Ruby/Sapphire, I thought the characters just looked stupid and wished they didn't use close-ups in that game.
About the rival...I can't hate this guy. Even though he has such a bad attitude (at this point), I can't help but like him. I think I just really like his design. Reminds me of Roark...at least his hair does....and I loved his design, too.
In Pokemon Yellow, having Pikachu follow you was one of my favourite aspects about it. So in this game, I couldn't believe that pretty much any Pokemon could follow you. I thought they would only make the starters follow you or something, so finding out that wasn't the case made me happy! Definitely one of my favourite aspects, it's nice to see how your team changes over time, not to mention having a Pokemon behind you really gives off the partner vibe imo. My Mareep hugged me. I think I died from a cuteness overload while trying to imagine that in my head. Also on the subject of seeing how your team changes over time, I'm guessing that's why random photographers show up? They seem to have no other purpose but for the players to view the photos on the PC....I think it's a nice touch myself.
The return of the Bug Catching Contest and the like really makes me happy. I find enjoyment waking up on a Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday and knowing there's a Bug Catching Contest waiting for me!
Ohhh, and none of my friends have called me for a rematch yet, but I really enjoy the mindless chatter when they decide to call me for no reason. It's nice to listen to their progress every once in a while. Or about how Ralph spends more time with his Goldeen than his own children! The only thing I don't like is that sometimes I don't know who I'm talking to. Like I can't match the trainer's name to a face, because I don't remember a lot of them.
What else is there to talk about....I could go on and on....oh! Is it just me, or does anyone else keep on running into the Legendary Beasts on Route 37 ? On my last version of Silver (back in the day), I met Suicune there (on a day I pretended to be sick from school. Best day ever), and on this version of HeartGold I ran into Raikou and Entei for the first time on the same day in that same patch of grass......!
I tried the Pokeathlon for the first time. I've only tried the speed and skill one, but it seems pretty addicting so far.
About the Pokewalker....I loved my Pokemon Pikachu! I took it everywhere, until the counter stopped working. I'm surprised I haven't used the Pokewalker yet, I just don't have the time (or understand how it works yet). All I did was transfer a spare Mareep into it, because from what I've read here, they don't learn moves while in it, so I figured...why put a valuable Pokemon in there?
Exploring and seeing what Pokemon will show up next is always exciting for me. I'll never get tired of exploring Johto. Everything about this game is amazing, I have nothing but praise for it. It doesn't help that I'm easily pleased or that I'm obsessed with Pokemon in general, but this game has some great value to it....I'm glad to see others here are liking the game as well.

I think most people here naturally like this game because most of us were the ones who played the first games and grew up with the series. Not to mention most people agree that Gold/Silver/Crystal were the best games in the series, and still are in my opinion). One time, a group of people walking by me as I waited for the bus noticed me playing SoulSilver and said "Pokemon is taking over the world!". I also saw a couple people playing on the bus too! And I mentioned before that I saw quite a bit of people at my university playing the game too, including just about all of my friends who go there. I don't like HeartGold/SoulSilver as much as I loved the original games though. It's probably because I've become so much more experienced in RPGs, and I'm a lot more picky about the games I like than before. But I still love this remake because of the nostalgia and the things that were kept in this game, among other things. And it shows too. Otherwise I wouldn't have been playing this game continuously and ignoring Final Fantasy XIII (a great game despite the reviews, in my opinion). Playing a game continuously, even if it's a game I just got, is rare for me unless I really like it.

I finally managed to beat Clair. >__< It took many healing items, and I had to sacrifice all the other members of my team, but FLAMEMAN (Typhlosion) pulled it off. I got my Extremespeed Dratini as well, but I'm not sure if I really want to raise another one of those at this point. x___X (Extremespeed is, at best, a small perk) I think this would qualify as spoilers even for those who played G/S/C, so SPOILZORS I loved the bit that follows with the Kimono Girls. That was a really nice touch; IIRC this wasn't in the original game. I thought it was pretty cool how it tied in with catching Lugia. (I'm guessing it's tied with Ho-oh in Heart Gold?) That said I did manage to catch Lugia. Genius that I am ([/sarcasm]), I forgot to save before I approached him, so I had to do it on my first shot.. I'm not saying it was difficult or anything, but it added some stress. I snagged him with a Heavy Ball. Took a long time, though. It's a real pain getting to Lugia in Whirl Islands. You need to cover all those silly HMs. When I got there and realized I'd need Flash too, I just consulted a guide and made my way to Lugia in the dark. >___< I'll have to go back there to explore at some point. Anyhow, False Swipe was really useful in catching Lugia; it kept me from accidentally wiping him out, at least. And now I've made my way up to Indigo Plateau, but I think I'm going to put off the Pokémon League until I've at least gotten my Espeon. I broke out my Pokéwalker so I could get some easy Happiness points without levelling him too high. Seemed clever at the time, but it's not very effective. (On a somewhat related note, do you think purple is close enough to pink?) My Eevee team is eventually going to need a Leafeon; but I'm not sure how I'm going to manage that the way I want it. >__< I don't like HeartGold/SoulSilver as much as I loved the original games though. It's probably because I've become so much more experienced in RPGs, and I'm a lot more picky about the games I like than before. That, and the fact that it's not "new" anymore. The G/S/C series when it first came out was epic to the max. It's still epic, of course, but it's been done. Although, I rather do like the newer elements they've added; it's been so long I'm not sure which of them are truly "new" elements, but still..

The only thing that I miss from the original G/S/C is that Time Capsule thing xD I understand that they won't be able to use that in the remakes but it was cool.

A lot happened to me when I came to Azalea Town: I routed Team Rocket's tail operation (those poor slowpokes... ), bumped into my rival and mopped the floor with him, and just finished up a gym battle with Bugsy- His scyther's U-turn got under my skin for a while, but I opened a can of whoopraid (bad pun, I know ) and emerged with a hive badge. Progresswise, I'm slogging through the mud, but the constant battles are paying off- I've got two evolutions today: a pidgeotto and a croconaw. For the time being, I plan to do a little more training before going to Ilex Forest. I've had a little fun with the pokewalker: I put in a ghastly this morning and ran errands around town. I played around with it and picked up a small load of items and caught a doduo. I swapped it out for a magikarp since I plan to raise my ghastly, good and proper. All in all, this game is getting hard to put down. So for a case like this, I regret not getting G & S the first time around (being a kid and not having a lot of money at the time does that to you ).
