>>B-R-E-T Wow, headache from MBV? Then again, I listen to a lot of noise rock, so I guess nothing will phase me...
Yeah, I'm not a real fan of AC either, but that song you posted sort of made me think of them. I think "Strawberry Jam" is the album I like best of theirs, but my favourite song is probably "Summertime Clothes" from "Merriweather Post Pavilion". I have a couple of friends who are way into them.
Anyone here into Blur at all?
Fun Fact: Damon Albarn, the lead singer of Blur, is one-half (well, pretty much all) of Gorillaz.
I really love Blur. They're one of my fav bands, but I'm not a fan of Gorillaz really. Though, when I was backpacking through the UK, Demon Days had just came out. You could hear it everywhere and couldn't walk a block without seeing billboards and adverts for it. So, they have a nostalgia-based place in my heart...
Plus I <3 Damon~

I don't have a lot of time, these days. But I do listen to a good peppering of Gilbert & Sullivan, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones ( their drinking songs are pretty cool:)) and Blind Guardian- heavy metal, but I love their acoustic version of "Mordred's Song".

Oh, David Bowie.. lol This past summer I fell (back) in love with Pink Floyd. Previously I'd only ever seriously listened to The Wall, which was nice and all, but I finally sat down and listened to: Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here and Animals, each of which blew my mind in its own way. Pink Floyd was probably my #1 summer obsession, music-wise. Also, I don't know if I can call it a band obsession, being that I just listened to one album, but I ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ Weezer's Blue Album. I've probably listened to it beginning-to-end a couple dozen times already in the summer alone. I'd like to toss out a recommendation for that one.

My music obsession has to be the Christian rock group Stryper. My dad was the one that sort of got me onto them. I knew a bit about them before but now I can't get their music out of my head (which is a good thing). Anyway Oct. 1 they're coming to Greensburg, PA and I'm going to see them live.

I gave my father a Best Of CD for Stryper two Christmases ago, because he really liked the band. I think their instrument players are really good, but their singer is pretty terrible. He's just doing a poor man's Ritchie Blackmoore impersonation (lead singer of WASP).
Anyways, I've been obsessed with the "Super Eurobeats Presents... Initial D D-Selection" series of albums. I can honestly say this is the best techno I have ever heard in my life! Apparently, Super Eurobeat is a collection in Japan of various Eurobeat songs (from Europe) that has 200 volumes released. And that's not including their various "Presents" series, which is what I'm listening to. Holy crap, that's a lot. Anyways, I'll leave you with the first song I heard, which got me into the albums.

F-ck yeah, party with kiddy cats. Also, 'nam ♥. Off R@@@'s new LP4. I'm all giddy over this. :06: >>B-R-E-T Wow, headache from MBV? It's usually hit or miss for a lot of experimental/electro groups like that, and the appeal of it all can be subtle to the point that it takes more than one or two listens to catch.

I listened to LP4 a few times, apparently people didn't like it? I dunno why though, I thought it was good. It is. I thought it was pretty much in keeping with LP3, just not as great. But then not being as great as LP3 doesn't say much at all. It's just not as awesome. I think people were hoping they'd do something crazy and unexpected, only to be disappointed that they took basically the same approach. They haven't worn on me yet though. Before LP4 came about and reminded me of Ratatat's awesome existence, I think I'd been listening to a lot of F*ck Buttons and Nirvana on and off. I forgot how much I adore Kurt. I'll have to check out T-Square and Bambi Molesters later, haven't heard of them. EDIT- I bought LP4, and I'm really pis sed at youtube for uploading all the least amazing tracks from the leaked version to promote it. I have a feeling this is going to end up being their most underrated ( and misunderstood) album. It's certainly my favorite.

I think I'm allergic to the guitar. Anyway, aside from the standard-issue showtune/opera hybrid I usually listen to, I've been on a David Benoit binge over the last week or so. Most of his really good studio-recorded stuff isn't up on Youtube, but I like most of the instrumentals (all of his songs that actually contain a vocal track aren't that great in my opinion). If he does have a guitar in the mix, I haven't noticed it yet.

Oh wow. This topic. I think I'm allergic to the guitar. </3 Hah. Last time I posted here I was still hooked on Pink Floyd and ’90s Weezer, right at the end of last summer. (I still love them, of course) Over the next few months, my favorite music library exploded from some dozen albums to maybe as much as a hundred. Around this time last year I decided that every week, on Monday to be exact, I'd listen to at least one album I hadn't heard before. (I think I averaged about three) I hit up various “Albums you have to listen to before you die” lists and bugged my friends for recommendations. I was able to keep that up regularly for maybe half a year, before I started running out of ideas. It was very fun, and I'd recommend it to anyone. I've been trying to keep up with it on and off after that. I've listened to so much since then it'd be hard for me to say any of my music obsessions are sudden any more. (Now all I've got to do is actually buy some of these albums.)

Team, Sublime and Riz fer sher. Just cause I've been on a 70's kick recently. :D Also recently got back into PST. The guy is super euphoric. I love chill music, but I go for more ambient stuff. I think Buster Cannon recently fav'd this on his YouChoob, which is kinda cheesy but admittedly I like it. Benoit's not my cup of tea, but he's nice.

Honestly, I just pulled the guitar bit out of my sleeve, since a lot of songwriters and bands these days like putting them in the forefront. It's my counter to anyone over here with a showtune/opera allergy. We've all got our musical turnoffs. I've actually done Pitch's album-a-week thing before, only with Broadway productions. :17: I've had some pretty obscure stuff crop up from it.
