Hey guys, I'm new to this forum I've been a long time Mega Man fan and just last week I was working on a Final Fantasy Rpg Maker XP fan game when I got sidetracked by finding a dusty copy of Mega Man Legends 2. So I continued my search and found the other two games Tron Bonne and the original MML... so I started playing them. It then gave me the inspiration to draw some sprites in RMXP style... i162.photobucket.com/albums/t268/karlox1234/complete_works.jpgNow, this does not mean I am going to start an RMXP fan game of Mega Man Legends, although I do have a sorta "sequal-ish" story floating around in my head, I am not a really reliable person and as you might have just read, I have problems keeping my mind on one subject i.e. my FF fan game lol... heck im even having trouble completing that. ;D ANYWAY, i am busy playing all three games.. and maybe, just MAYBE, when I finish them, I will have the heart to start an RMXP fan game, but no promises But yeaa, just click the link above and tell me what you think, I was up all night doing them lol PS.. if you plan on using any of the sprites make sure you give credit to Volnuttcase or DJStewiee haha thanks PS#2.. If you have any requests, please message me and I will let you know when I am available for service ... unfortunately right now though I am busy visiting familia in Latin America, so I am not available, but just message me to let me know Ciao!

Hi there. I like your sprites, but I might suggest using a better format. Using the JPEG format has considerably reduced the quality of your sprite work here. I'd recommend using a nice GIF, saved in a proper image editor. ( I.E.,Paint sucks with making GIF images -- just about anything other than BMP in Paint is fail really) A lot of people like IrfanView, but my personal recommendation for quick GIFs is Microsoft Photo Editor(It usually comes with Microsoft Office). When I'm done playing around with my sprites in Paint, I copy it over to Photo Editor, toss in some transparency, and save as a GIF. But still, they look really good. Nice job. p.s., I won't hold it against you if you never end up making a fangame. A lot of people start out projects like that and never end up finishing them. People don't have the attention span to put that much work into something. If you do end up attempting to make something, I'd suggest working your way up and making smaller, contained games first.

to Exo: hmm I never used rmvx, but I'm sure I could do it the sprite sheets seem to be in the format of rm2k3 charsets, 3 frames instead of 4 But yeaa I'll write your name down and what you want in my fancy journal, if I ever find the time to do one, I'll let you know What I would suggest on your charset though is maybe shrinking the head a bit and changing the birdbots skin(feathers) color to a more beish-ish color.. Other than that it's a very good charset P.S. I'm going to get started on a birdbot charset for rmxp, so I'll show you when I'm done and to Lord Kamina: I never really started a legends fan game, I just felt like doing some charsets because I'm really into spriting for rpg maker xp and plus I LOVE MML lol

I am a RPG VX spriter, my current avatar is the Roll sprite mod i made for it. I'm currently making my own fangames of MML, and i'm proud that i'm almost done with one of them.
Now, as for the sprites, here is my complete review on them, all of the following is constructive crit:
These are the first attempts i've seen at making RTP sprites for XP coming from normal fans and i must say i was impressed, this does not mean they don't need a lot of work, for they do. Now, i can't tell wether if you used shading on certain pieces since the image is a jpeg and quality loss on it is horrible, but you did good showing us the work in jpg format since that is the format that literally "protects" your pixel art, if we had art thieves here and you posted either .gif or .png images then they would have been able to steal it and claim it as their own, since they would have grabbed the top quality image. Now, most of the sprites are too plain, only a couple are shaded and size scales aren't very reliable on some reaverbots. That being said, i'd love to use a full spriteset of the reaverbots if you have it since i haven't really put too much time on reaverbots sprites and i'm making sprites for other purposes.

hahaha, That Roll is awesome But yeaa, I know mine aren't perfect, but I'm sure with a little work they could suit any fan game and yupp, I'm like you, I havent been paying much attention to the reaverbots, and I only got XP charset of the Zakobon. The rest I just quickly drew and was planning to get back to them after I had done the 30 or so important characters in the series lol The only programs I use for drawing are photoshop, paint, and Irfanview Photoshop I use to smooth the edginess that is left from the jpg and PNG format I'll admit, Im not the best spriter and the sprites do need a lot of work, if there are any other programs you could recommend, Mir@k, itwould be much appreciated oh and I'll email you the zako if you want

You listed the programs that are not suited for pixel art lol. Photoshop is a powerful tool, but too powerful for pixel art, the filters can be EVIL, and the overpowerness of them lures many promising pixel artists to the dark side. Paint is a nono for me.
I reccomend using Idraw, Paintshop PRO or Adobe Fireworks CS3. (previously known as macromedia fireworks), the last one is the one i use.

ohhh I see well I know I do have Idraw, but I never used it and my dad has CS3 on his laptop But yeaa, I'll try Idraw, and I'll see how the next sprite sheet comes out, thanks

Graphics Gale is a pretty good one, too. I use a lot of programs, Photoshop, Idraw, Character Maker 1999, Graphics Gale(as I've already mentioned), etc.

Klaymoor is definately the best of the bunch. I think the main problem with your sprites is that you pillow shade, which means you just make the edges dark and go lighter towards the center. You need to make a light source, usually for RMXP sprites it's from above the sprite to the left.
