Hey, it's Paragon. This is my first General Discussion thread, but for all you FF9 players, this is for you to give your opinions on which FF9 boss is the most overrated.
I'll give a list of the most overrated bosses Ark Kuja Garland Tiamat Lich Trance Kuja Hades Tantarian (giant book demon)

I think both forms of Kuja were extremely overrated--I beat both of them on the first try, and with Kuja I was using my weaker characters. Lich, Tiamat, and the snake boss in Memoria were easy, but the water one (the one which led to the Hades battle) took me a while.

Yeah, the only one I had an extremely hard time with was Necron. I beat him, on my 2nd try though.

Never really had much trouble with FF9, although Necron got a little annoying sometimes. I need to play that game again...guess I should buy a copy first, eh?

Necron=cheater!
He gets 3 turns in a row sometimes, and usually does that oh-so-annoying Grand Cross! Whoever thought him up probably thought "Less HP, more speed," because his HP is nothing compared to the final bosses of other FF games.

...If I remember correctly, he gets a turn for every attack you choose unless he's doing an attack at the time, so if you let him attack first and choose your commands during the animation you'll slow him down a bit...Or maybe that was Ozma....

Do you remember how hard Ozma was, Woodlediaper?

I remember him being annoying because of his curse and meteor crap...but I also remember giving everyone armor that absorbed his doomsday and constantly using it with Vivi. Now that I'm thinking this much, it IS Ozma who gets a turn everytime you select a turn, so choosing your turns during his attack animations will slow him down. Necron may work the same way too. Also, putting a status effect on Ozma will force him to esuna himself on the next turn.
Ozma is annoying because you have to hope he doesn't use certain attacks to win. Weak.

Real-life luck battles... Those are the hardest battles in any game.

Tantarian isn't that hard if you can concentrate that hard...many are complining about Necron. A question please. What was Zidane's last skill at his trance?

The answer is Grand Lethal. It is an extremely strong attack that hits every enemy.
Anymore opinions on the overrated bosses?

Would it be acceptable to say the game as a whole is over rated? It saves me the trouble of of having to mention every boss in the game. Bosses just lacked the creativity in their attacks and patterns found in previous Final Fantasy titles. I hoenstly think the whole design style and motif of the game came about because the director lost some kind of bet.

FF9 is hardly under-rated. It's an RPG with a mediocre story an adequate battle engine with some nice graphics and music. But that's it. It's hardly a game of legendary caliber within its own series.
The whole story seemed like it was chopped in half. Right when the game seemed to be about... Half Way done, it was all over. It's not a bad game, it's just not as good as previous titles. Discounting of coruse Final Fantasy VIII, the lowest of the low. x.x

FF9 is UNDER-rated, Gren. FF7 was overrated. I'm gonna have to agree with Gren on this one. FF9 was a good game, but far from spectacular. I played through, got halfway through Memoria if I recall, and just quit. I haven't had any interest in touching the game since in the past... 3, maybe 4 years. *shrugs* Thus, I don't remember many of the bosses, nor know their names too well, but I don't recall being impressed with any of them... And as for the quote... I advise that in my presence, you not use such a degrading abbreviation as "FF7". The name is to be spelled out properly, "Final Fantasy VII". Yet that's rather unimportant in comparison to your comment... Final Fantasy VII is not overrated, cannot be overrated. It is the ultimate game, it is beyond being a mere game. Trust me on this, I know. *w*
