Yes, this is the real DevRoom Event #6. :17: I also can't believe they're only picking one winner, either. These guys could use all the marketing help they can get. Users can submit up to three ideas, 250 words and 3 images for each as usual. Submission starts now and ends at noon PST on March 22. Participants get 1000 CU points. Runners up get 5000 CU points and a Servbot Bobble Budd. The winner gets 7500 CU points, a Servbot Bobble Budd, and a CU Badge.

Ah, interesting. On the surface, I'd bet most people aren't too excited about having to create promotions for MML3 themselves...but I'm sure those studying advertising will be thrilled to have a chance to show off their skills. : P On a side note, we (kind of) saw this already, in a sense: remember yesterday, on iScribble, when that link was posted to this tweet from the Japanese Devroom's Twitter account ? Seems we've finally found out what it was referring to.

I miss when Legends 3's events came with loads of information about the actual game. For the NPC/Townspeople event we got a ton of information on the setting; for the Bonne Mech event we got to look at an actual boss battle; heck, even for the Heroine Poll we got some information about this mysterious new digging team, and a (very shallow) look at a new character. But since then, the new content has been pretty hard to come by in these events. This is the third event in a row to disappoint in that regard. The Reaverbot event, promising as it was, came with no real information about the game; the Easter Egg event didn't really describe anything cool either; and now this is just... advertising. Bleh.
The number seven is lucky. Maybe the seventh event will actually be something interesting.

I feel ya on that one. :-\ I mean, it's not like we're not doing this already. Now we're just...doing the same thing we've been doing for about a month under moderate Capcom supervision.
I wonder if there's anything Legends Station can do--as a top-notch Legends resource site community--to further promote the game. MMLS is the first non-wiki, non-shopping site to pop up on Google if you search "Mega Man Legends."

Making a contest out of who can advertise the project the best does seem pretty shallow. Basically, if we have an idea for a promo campaign we can execute ourselves, we should just do that, not submit it for approval and prizes.
But I think the point of this event isn't submitting ideas about what WE can do to get the word out, but what we can get Capcom and the entire community to do. Obviously, the developers are busy enough just making the game, so they're probably looking for just one or two great ideas they can put their PR resources behind. That's why we're making proposals for this event.
So don't just submit an idea for what you can do by yourself, they're hoping you'll do that anyway. Submit ideas for what the entire Devroom can do. Think big.

I added my suggestion, 10000 paper servbot collage, similar to sadako's 1000 paper cranes t save her life, we would make 10000 of my servbots to save legends 3's. And make them into an epic collage of pictures.

I slapped one up about a YouTube-based publicity stunt contest. What lengths would you go to in order to get Legends 3 greenlit and flying off the shelves come launch day?

Too bad it has to be implimented though internet. I came up with ideas to promote the devroom though anime conventions, since my friends and I run a lot of Capcom video game panels (including Rockman)
I'm actually working on an Aero cosplay right now, since I was planning to run around Anime Central, Colossalcon, Otakon and Gen Con Indy plugging the Capcom Dev Room in cosplay and at my panelist group's Capcom panels. However, the costume requires a lot of expensive suade and special order notions, so it's not going to be done until mid-april or so.
I did have this idea for a Servbot blog. Posts from various Servbots talking about events from the previous games, progress on the rocket and curry rice recipes. Kind of an offshoot of a photo blog I was going to make about my Servbot toy.

Once again, another idea that has to be restricted by 250 words. I suppose I'll have to think of an idea that's short, sweet, and to the point. I will post my idea here for opinions probably later tonight.

250 words isn't that strict of a limit. 100 was pushing it, I'll admit, but a promotional idea probably wouldn't exceed 200 under normal circumstances either. The tougher part is the internet-based implication. You lose a lot of potential marketing prospects if you limit your endeavors exclusively to the internet.
Incidentally, if you check the entries, a lot of this stuff is the kind of promotion we could all be doing ourselves, too, without waiting around for Capcom to stamp with its official seal of approval. Like Pandm's papercrafts, making T-shirts, and the like.

As amazing of an oppurtunity as this is for a media student such as myself, I have way to much to think about as is; aside from that I think promotional issues should be left up to the company, not the fans, I mean the fans are the people your promoting to initially and for a fan to promote a fandom on the internet is more a less considered spam in most cases.
Just a personal opinion. (Hurray for amazingly long sentences~)

Maybe I'm stating the obvious, but shouldn't that be left to people within the company who have a better understanding of how the market works? I don't see this working well, and it doesn't really fit my own idea of what fun is. Cool if you're into that sort of thing, but I can't imagine a CU event of it. Pass.

Pretty cool, I was way off thinking it would be an island, dang you CapKobun for making me think impossible things. I'm not sure how well I could come up with something, but I'll throw my hat in the ring. I gotta mention that Tau did a damn fine job advertising the Devroom.

This tells me that we are going to have events we are not going to want to participate in.
Capcom wants to run us through the entire process of game design, including the advertising.
If they want this game to do well all they need is a viral campaign oh wait thats right I don't need their opinion. ;D
Though a viral campaign is a bit beyond my skills.
Also you guys can't give us more stuff about the game? No story, artwork or a trailer. I'm dissapointed.........but still psyched that we're this much closer to the game.

>_> This seems like one of the most boring Events I've seen from the DevRoom so far. I know we gotta get MML3 out there, but...does Capcom really need 10k+ employees to work on one game? They want to see the project have interest, I understand. But...damn, really? Make a Promo? Capcom is starting to seem lazy to me. BRING ON THE DAMN MUSIC EVENT!
