This is actually cool news. The MT framework is the framework used for Lost Planet and Dead Rising. This news adds some validity to claims from years ago that the engine was made with Legends in mind. There was actually speculation about it a while back Protodude's Rockman Corner, when it was revealed that Capcom was working on a portable version. Nice to get some confirmation about that. Nifty.

Yeah, I figured they'd be using MT Framework with all the rumors flying around about it over the years. Still, it's nice to have official confirmation!

I think Inafune hinted that in an interview once.

Yeah confirmation is cool. It's funny, now that this game is announced we can find out exactly how many of out theories were crazy or not. Now they need to tell us about the PSP DASH ports and how they intended to test the waters, and then NamcoXCapcom having hidden Morse Code hinting about the Nintendo 3DS.

MT Framework. I always thought that was the fairly obvious route to go if they should ever give Legends 3 the go-ahead. Even in that interview where Keiji said they'd need $15 million, he did mention something about it.
That said, I hope it doesn't control like Dead Rising, but like the past Legends games.

Unless I'm mistaken, Lost Planet had the same L1 R1 controls as Legends so I think it's save to presume it's simular.

Sounds like good news, investing in frameworks from popular games. Dunno what to say else unless that I hope that is not gonna change the gameplay than it was in the games before... (with the lock-on of the MML2 of coruse)

Right, but if I'm not mistaken, I think both Lost Planet and Dead Rising featured more free 360-degree movement. As well as the ability to have the main character face the camera, or any direction, and then leave them facing that direction. Neither of the previous Legends games utilized those type of mechanics, and I hope they don't start using them now. In short, I'd like to keep the game controls/mechanics as familiar to the previous Legends games as possible.

Well, they seem to have gone with the obvious choice here and done the right thing in using their in-house tools. They know how to make the most out of their own middleware anyways, and I'm certain that they can make this new game look and play real smooth with it.
And most of us can agree on controls, Hal. The Devroom is where all contrary opinion seems to reside.

Well yeah, that's quite evideNt.

The Devroom is really the only place where your opinion is counted by developers. As a general rule of thumb, if Capcom isn't asking for your input on a specific subject, they're probably not listening. Opinions on the devroom forums are worth no more than opinions here, if you ask me. It's just another forum on the internet. I don't demand the “tank” controls for Legends 3, and I certainly wouldn't complain if they included some controls that actually, you know, work in the game. XD I'd like to have the option of the original control scheme, but it's not a requirement by any means as far as I'm concerned.. And I'm not opposed to having other options. I was always a Control Scheme B guy back in the day...

I thought this news was old hat. If I'm not mistaken, they mentioned this almost immediately after announcing the game itself, along with that new Resident Evil 3DS game that uses the very same framework. Unless I'm mistaking a rumor for a fact...
