There's a Bonbon in 'Little Nemo' but she was named directly after the candy. Either that or the candy was named after her, LN was quite an old series. What are the Bonne's last name in Japanese? The first name made for interesting conversation, but as long as they don't massacre it some artistic licence must be taken when translating something, especial from and into entirely non-compatible languages like Japanese and English. (If Bonne was really just picked out of thin air then I'll be a monkey's owner.) The katakana is romanized "Bon" which is pronounced with a long O. It sounds like "bone," and that's where the name "Toron Bon" starts to get punny. The Bonne robot names are even left intact, as far as going, for example, from "Ferudinanto" to "Feldinaut/Feldynaught." The only thing I can think of that had to be invented was going from "Kobun" to "Servbot." "Kobun" means something along the lines of "follower" in Japanese, so I think "Servbot" is pretty close. Just the "bot" is tagged on there. Same general idea, though. Also, the birdbots have some totally whack, long name in Japanese that I have never gotten a straight romanization or translation of. If anyone knows what it is and/or what it means, please share.

Now, keep in mind, I don't actually KNOW, but I suspect the Japanese name for Birdbots are "Birdbots-which-are-some-of-the-funniest-robots-ever-in-history-especially-when-they- squawk-and-it-sounds-like-this-"Errererrrrrhhh!"
But I don't know that for a fact.

Speaking of adding Bot do the end of various mechanical things. I am slightly surprized none of the Bonne machines end in 'omatic. German merchandise tends to add omatic to EVERYTHING. If you've ever been inside a German made car. Four wheel drive is 4matic, for example. Innovatek products REALLY love omatic: flass-o-matic, konvect-o-matic, tank-o-matic, etc.

But I don't know that for a fact. Har-har, you should be a fact checker for some fanatic news paper. And as for something being o-matic. That something from American history. When something has that particular suffix it tends to do only one thing. When it comes to Germans using it more than usual you have to understand a little about the German language. Namely that they have a thing going with tying syllables to the ends of words to make them longer and sound cooler . The longest descriptive I heard of would be sixteen different syllables all used to describe one thing, and packed into a single word. Over there one can only think they're having fun, while over here the phrase is, 'Oh Brother.' Denied their love for ridiculously long words, and their smoked pigs legs, they tend to act rashly and add o-matic to otherwise average names, sometimes helping, sometimes hurting. The crush-o-matic The kill-o-matic The fungus-o-matic The letsgetiton-o-matic That last one had dual purposes, but it just didn't do well overseas. All the same I'd rather have a catbot, or a dogbot than a cat-o-matic, or a dog-o-matic. What if they named the servbots serv-o-matics? Oh brother.

Sometimes I use "Toron" for Tron when I'm writing fanfiction and want to sound like an otaku (I never used Teiizeru since I didn't know about it, but now maybe I will) but when I'm posting things in a forum like I am now I just go with "Teisel" (and "Tron) because that's the way it's scripted in the game.

Because I'm not allowed to make official polls n stuff here's a poll I decided to make and post it here in General Legends Talk. I'd like your opinion on which is the most correct way to spell Teasel's name or you can also respond with the way you like to spell it reguardless of which wa is correct. *Teasel *Teisel *Teiizeru * And any other spellings you might use. It's acually Teisel, because I've played the games many times.
