Capcom just told the world that it DOES hear to fan petitions, that's why Sonic is in SSMB, Roll's and Megaman loving relationship is more probably boyfriend-girlfriend-ish because of the majority in fanbases.
It surprised me to see the always correct theory about the megaman series diverse universe and relationship between Mega and Roll, as DeltaTrigger said, it's true. In the original (also called 'classic' and 'light' serie) Dr. Light created both Megaman and Roll, thus making them legal brother and sister. In Battle Network, Megaman and Roll are independent no related digital beings, thus there's an attraction between them that let's the viewer know the ovbious ending of it all - Mgaman and Roll's pairing.
In the legends series though, the thing is like a mix of both; Megaman and Roll are brother and sister only because they were raised together, but are not blood related, there's the root of the confusion in all the love-ness of them both. Still, i find all the facts a little bit inclined to a gf bf relationship between them because of megaman's behavior in the game, maybe you love your sister very much, but to reach the extent of buying her gifts like plushies, rings and flowers seems more sexual attraction rather than brotherly love, that's something you can't argue because of the symbolism a ring and a flower has when giving it to a girl, is common even among the japanese people.
OT: Look how awesome my post looks being sportacus the one who's talking. YEEEA.

Umm: * Green would like to point out that, as it came after Legends, nothing in Battle Network could've possibly influenced Capcom's decisions about Legends. May in the future; has not presently.
Also: * Green would like to point out that SEGA, not CAPCOM owns Sonic the hedgehog; and that SEGA's decision to include him in SSBM has no effect on MegaMan Legends, or even MegaMan, whatsoever.
Finally: * Green would like to point out that all of the Roll Gift Items are optional.

Well, i certainly messed up with the Sega/capcom thing, they have the same blue tone for their logos, so... Although BN came in the future, is just a depiction on how was the relationship of Megaman and Roll developed through time, thus one can throw a floating guess about Legends love relationship wich has more probabilities of being correct. That's no excuse to say that 'there's no connection', Capcom didn't include them if there was no symbolism in these items. *Mir@k deals his hand:Symbolism is the applied use of symbols: iconic representations that carry particular conventional meanings. -Wikipedia. All flowers have specific flower meanings, which symbolize one feeling or another. When giving flowers as a gift, you'll likely want to take these flower meanings into consideration. Ranging from true love, to friendship, to gratitude, to goodbye. - The meanings of flowers. Site. Here your point would be taken in consideration, for a flower has these meanings and thus is not limited to pure love, BUT, we have to consider the other generic gifts, let's focus in the meaning of the ring itself: While there's not an established significance associated with every ring you might wear, some rings are by their nature symbolic, give or wear a ring to symbolize love, faith and commitment - but not engagement. This ring is usually worn on the ring finger of the left hand, but is not as formal or expensive as an engagement ring. - How to understand the Symbolism of Rings. You could still say is normal friendship, but then we have the 'approach', the plushies, cushion's etc... Toys are also very much a child's confidant and protector, especially for girls.[...] Toys are often shown to be imbued with a part of the girl's own life force, to protect her from evil and share her secrets.[...] As a gift in a couple, it is used to demonstrate love and attraction dressed as a stuffed animal... [...] - Another site of symbolism. I still think that using every element in the game, as the game psicology and object interaction, there is quite the number of chances for a good loving relationship between both, and i ain't talking of brothers and sisters. I'm not that Roll fan, i think a pairing of Tron and Megaman, or even a loving relationship with any of the mother units would be cute, but i still incline more to what the game itself has to depict. ...In short, i believe Roll and Megaman are bound to be a couple. EDIT: I hate typos. Crap... Sportacus is so cool!

I believe the flower Megaman gave Roll was a Pink Rose and that one flower website mentions this.
Rose - A single rose of any color in full bloom means "I love you." Two roses put together to form a single stem means an engagement. Stem leaves are a symbol of hope.
But i have no idea if it was in full bloom so this is what it means if its not.
Rose, pink - grace, gentility, perfect happiness

Two roses put together to form a single stem means an engagement. Stem leaves are a symbol of hope. But i have no idea if it was in full bloom so this is what it means if its not. Rose, pink - grace, gentility, perfect happiness Do you honestly think Capcom had that in mind putting it in the games...? It's a flower; that's all it is. If there was something specific to say "This symbolizes this and this and that.." MAYBE; but no way. That's just way too far a stretch. Once again. I would like to point out that Capcom doesn't read half as far into this stuff as most people here do.You traced the progression of MegaMan and Roll's Relationship as follows: Classic -> Battle Network -> Legends BUT, Battle Network did NOT exist at the time of Legends' release(nor did it at any time during Legends' life), so it would more logically follow: Classic -> Legends -> Battle Network What I'm saying here is that Battle Network has not YET influenced anything in Legends because.. well how could it? It didn't exist! X.x It may or may not in the future. (Perhaps Crappy Cellphone Game no Rockman will have something in it that was influenced by Battle Network and if through some great stupidity on Capcom's part, that game becomes canon, THEN and only then will any argument based on Battle Network have any real effect on Legends.) I work with the information we have now; Battle Network did not affect any of that information. ...well, I could see my way to distort my perspective enough to believe that perhaps, as I actually mentioned above, Legends influenced Battle Network: that is to say, the idea that MegaMan and Roll would make a good Couple originated in Legends and flowed into Battle Network in full. However to argue that case requires one to pull information from the games, and as a result it's just going to bring us back to where we stand now and where we will stand, most likely, until the end of time -- or until we all just stop caring and realize: "Hey, it's just a video game; who really cares?," and get on with our lives. Floating guesses are nice, but they're no real basis for a solid argument. =/ This debate's been going on for a long time; by this point facts are all that's going to win it for either side, and thus far no one's been able to effectively use them. I apologize for the run-on sentence. x.X Well, actually.. there's a logical reason those items are in the games that has nothing to do with symbolism. For the most part they serve as a counter-balance to MegaMan's Evil Actions in Legends 1, and a drive to get the Discount on Weapon Upgrades in Legends 2. :) There is an actual purpose to giving those items. Analogy time: In Legends 2, donating Money to a CHURCH boosts your Status, even though the Carbons weren't created by a God, but by a Human(Argue that the Master was created by God, if you must, my point still stands); it doesn't mean that the Church holds any real significance in the games.. Do you think that's part of Legends' theme, "Go out and donate to your church?" Honestly, the church is just there if you need to save yourself; you can become Super Awesome Radiant Light MegaMan without the Church, but those opportunities to boost your status disappear as the game goes on, thus at the end of the game one might get "stuck" being Dark MegaMan, otherwise.. Of course, the Roll Items are the opposite though; they're the one-time dealies(don't recall what your permanent safety net from the Dark Side in Legends 1 was; pretty sure they had something though[the cats, maybe?]). Sportacus(Mir@k), you've outsmarted yourself. Here I bring my main point back around full swing. For each and every point you can give me in favor of the pairing, however logical it may be, I can give you an equally logical opposite point — for however many “chances for a good loving relationship between both[not of the brother/sisterly type]” I can give you as many logically reasoned chances that there's not. Trying to read into symbolism different ways to prove a point has the unfortunate side effect that.. well your opposition can do the same thing. Cold hard truth is that Capcom only has one meaning in mind when they do these things, and that's the only factual answer; thus, using attempts at interpreting symbolism to argue here is just a waste of your energy. It is a bit fun though, isn't it? Incidentally, while I'm not in favor of the pairing myself(as a matter of personal non-interest), I could probably argue your case as well, so don't think I don't consider most of your points valid; it's just that you speak with such finality, when really.. there's no winning this one. For anyone. Period. I'm not winning any debate by countering any of your points, I'm just putting things back on level ground. Hmm.. that kind makes this whole thing seem futile, eh? * Green walks out

Boy, that was a long post. Lets all take a beath of air.
Anyway, I'd like to remind everyone that there's nothing wrong with giving opinions, no matter how strong or loose based they may be. As Green pointed out, There really is no right or wrong answer here. Green has every right to contradict whatever evidence you throw at him but that doesn't mean he's right. Adversely, that doesn't make him wrong either.
I've decided, however, to make things a bit more interesting here. Lets turn the tables shall we? I'd say it's about time to give the ol' Tron and Megaman relationship idea a spin. Anyone have any ideas on whether or not they should be together? Be warned however as you may be severly argued with. Don't let this change of pace discourage any Roll+Megaman hopefuls from giving any more ideas. (actually ignore that last one. It would just be confusing)
And yes, Green, I know there is no solid proof to the relationship on either side. But it is fun to imagine isn't it?

Green. Green. Green. Green. Green. My Name is Green; Brahms is a Halloween name; referring to me as Brahms will only cause confusion later. x.x; Boy, that was a long post. Lets all take a beath of air. You should see me when I really get going. You're wrong. Because this topic was asking for the truth, not the opinion. The truth is insufficient to answer the Question at hand; everything that could possibly be wrong is when it comes to offering simple opinions. And to be blunt, it's quite a slap in the face to people who've actually fought this debate out over the cold hard facts time and time again. Nope. There's ONLY no right answer. Every Answer is Wrong. :) NO.
This topic has nothing to do with Tron. That would be an OFF TOPIC discussion. We've tried to steer away from that there, so let's continue and if Tron+MegaMan be what you wish to discuss, do so elsewhere.
This thread is about “MegaMan and Roll's true relationship” - - Let's keep it that way.I don't care how fun it is to try; the purpose of this topic is(or was) finding the truth. Simplest answer: it can't be done. And incidentally, as I've pointed out, the bulk of the reason I argue against the MegaMan and Roll pairing is that I don't find it to be a fun idea.

Sorry for the confusion Green
First of all, Green, when I created this thread, I was asking fans to give their OPINIONS on the subject. I was never asking for a solid truth that in my opinion is non-existant. Maybe if fans wanted to give a little evidence, if they had any, to back up their assertion, that's ok isn't it. If some people went a bit nuts on trying to prove it, well, shame on them.
Second, you were probably right about not steering the idea to Tron, I'll heed your advice and fix that.
Thirdly, I respect your opinion as much as I do everyone elses, but you have to realize that while the idea of Roll and Megaman together isn't pleasing to you, other people might have a different view. If you wish to debate anyone's theories, or disprove them, well it's your right to do so, if that is what you wish. But, it's not right to tell someone that their opinion is wrong. That's like me saying "Hey who here likes Megaman Legends" (people raise their hands) "Well you're wrong cause Megaman sucks!" (joking by the way)
lastly, though I know your going to tear me apart for everything I just said, I'd like to say that I hold nothing against you. Not one for contention really. I just thought I'd clear the air.

I forgot this was even your topic.
Umm.. whether or not Roll and MegaMan are in love is a question of a factual nature. For an Opinion Question see “Would MegaMan and Roll make a good couple?”
“Are MegaMan and Roll in Love?” → Literal Question → Yes/No “Would MegaMan and Roll make a good couple?” → Theoretical Question → I think so / I think not Yeah. That's a whole other subject.
ALTHOUGH, seeing as the real question here apparently is "Would MegaMan and Roll make a good couple?" THEN the question of whether or MegaMan and Tron would make a better couple is a bit more.. valid. But as to the question of whether or not MegaMan and Roll are actually in love, Tron's position on the matter is neither here nor there(though if MegaMan expressed any preference between the two it would obviously have some impact).
You're wrong. :)
This will be the third time now, but just to reinforce it: The answers to YOUR original question are factual in nature; it has nothing to do with opinion. I'm not actually countering anyone's arguments(facts) with “You're wrong, because I don't like Roll.” I'm only arguing the factual matter Against Roll because I don't like her. The fact that I don't like her is not, nor has it ever been one of my arguments; just the reason behind my using my actual factual arguments.
Hate's my motivation, not my rationale. :) I couldn't care less what anyone's opinion of Roll is.

What about classic? Once again, they're brother and sister in that one. But then again, Roll was only in 3 of the main classic games, had speaking roles in two, and had a major appearance in one of those three. In fact, it makes me wonder why we have any of the Rolls at all; the first one was so unimportant. As for the topic, you're all wrong. Trigger loves Teasel, obviously.

Not that it's of any major importance, but Capcom of America has since changed MegaMan's real name from “Rock” to “Mega,”(If you consider MegaMan Powered Up canon) so NOW Roll can be considered relatively insignificant. :) But that had Roll as a Playable Character -- which was just awesome, btw -- so yeah.. not sure where to stand on that one.

I think fair to say that Roll has some sort of affectionate feelings towards Megaman, wether that be as a brother-sister, thing, or As a genuine crush on him. But although they aren't actully blood-related, as it says in Barrel's Diary:
"I raised Megaman Like A SON", and also i the letter to barrell from matilda "Please look after her, she is your grnd-daughter" If Roll did love megaman, wouldn't this be classed as incest, at least in Barrels eyes, it certainly would.

"I raised Megaman Like A SON" That's always been my reasoning. Whether or not people may agree or disagree about Roll's "love factor", she and Megaman are not related by blood. So, it's fine if they were in love. The "Jak and Daxter" series uses this type of relationship also. Jak and Kiera aren't related by blood, but they were raised together and have a thing with each other.
