Well, there is no official time-line as of now, but this is what I've gathered:
MegaMan Classic takes place in the year 20XX, and still isn't officially finished (leaving the possibility for a MegaMan 9, correct?)
Later, in the year 22XX, MegaMan is reborn as X, and there are no more "Robot Masters", but instead Mavericks. This series too is not yet closed, from what I know.
Then 100 years after the X Series, there is the Zero Series, where this time, Zero is reborn and must play the role as a savior whilst trying to uncover mysteries of his past. I've also heard that it's what would happen, had Zero have died or didn't die (Whichever one, not too sure) and is a side-story, but I'm fairly positive that it's apart of the normal time-line.
I'm a little hazy about the new ZX series, but I've heard that it's a continuation of the Zero Series. Not just because of the artwork, but because the Zero series was four games long, and it's what happens after Zero supposedly dies in space. Two kids (Van and Eile?) find X's old Live Armor, and wear it ( for reasons unknown to me) There is also someone that finds Zero's armor, I believe? Anywho, I'm not to sure how this fits into the time-line yet so... Any help?
And finally, the Legends series. Takes place after everything else, once Terra (Earth) is flooded, and people's only means of power and currency are the refractors, hidden deep within ancient ruins. Now, it's been pointed out that there have been some "cameo" things in other games. I.E: In MegaMan Zero 2, you can see a few of the ReaverBot Eye signs in the levels.
As Far as the Battle Network series goes, I'm not sure, but some have said that it's a two part story in the Classic series. I don't see how this works though, as Wily gets foiled by Lan Hikari AND MegaMan and Light, simultaneously? I don't see how Light can be Lan's TRUE grandfather... It doesn't really add up, but I don't know.
So that's what I feel to be true, any comments? Please help me with this, as I'm still a bit confused. Thank you.
