So on the Discord server someone saved this gorgeous fanart of the South Gate outside of Apple Market. It reminded me of the Sub-Cities and my old theory that the Sub-Cities are a past version of the Uptown, Downtown and Old City sections of Kattleox City. I mean they have a (beautiful) night sky. Yet they are supposed to be... underground? Can anyone recall any explanation in regards to those broken walls or the Sub-Cities? I always took it that the Kattleox Walls are more ancient than the city itself. Like as old as the underground ruins. And since the Island has been "reset" multiple times before, and that Carbons were "given" their own culture and language (as revealed in MML2) that the Sub-Cities would be past versions of Present Day Kattleox City. So are those "Black Boxes" not elevators (except the one that is outside the warehourse in Old City) down to the Sub-Cities, but... time-travel portals? Pocket dimensions? This is all just more reason why I love MML1. Kattleox is pretty mysterious I think. What do you guys think?

There's definitely a striking resemblance between the upper cities and sub-cities, it might be because the upper cities were built after the lower cities, here's my theory: Long before the carbons were created, the first (?) creations of The Master were the Prototype Anthro Units, they probably were put on Terra to prepare the planet for the return of the people living on Elysium (but that's another theory for another time) so the PA units used to manage the underground facilities, now called "ruins" since the atmosphere was probably hazardous for them (I imagine the Prototype Anthro units were the 'alfa' versions of advanced androids such as Yuna, Sera and Trigger himself, meaning they had the necessity to breathe, eat and such...) they built the underground cities, since the PA were programmed to have some sort of human emotions they decided to build a holographic ceiling so they can enjoy the starry sky. When the world above them turned habitable again, the Prototype Anthro units began building the upper cities, The Master created the carbons and put them on those cities and they lived hundreds of years, the PA units were probably put to sleep because their job was done. Right after any reinitialization the new carbons had to rebuild the city, that's why there are some differences on the original structure of the buildings. After The Master died, there were no more reinitializations, no more orders to give to the carbons, so they stopped rebuilding the outside walls and concentrated on building other stuff and technology. That's my take on the matter, what do you think about it?

The game was partially inspired by old animes, like Ghibli's castle in the sky. In that world, crystals used to run everything in the old days. When the two main characters fall underground with a crystal, the other crystals start glowing. They look like stars and galaxies, but underground. quick example
