On the topic of difficulty

This has bugged me ever since I first played Legends 2...does anyone else think the fight with Sera's second form is too taxing? I suppose her power makes sense from a narrative perspective but the fight itself is a frustrating slog, given that most of her attacks can 2HKO or 3HKO you and there is no way to refill your Canteen for the entirety of Elysium. These two things, compounded with the boss rush you just had to endure, makes this fight way more frustrating than it has to be. I admit that Juno gave me trouble in the first game, but that was mostly because I hadn't figured out how to roll yet, by some miracle. I feel as though Sera's fight is a bit too perfection-based, and is a major factor as to why I'm scared to replay Legends 2, because I know I'll eventually have to deal with her again...

She's definitely though, even in normal mode. One thing to consider is that if you get a higher digger license her difficulty will be also higher.
I always go back to the Flutter to refill and buy upgrades before facing her (and also equip the shining laser) otherwise I would be totally annihilated.

Yeah, I couldn't beat her without grinding for the money to raise my buster's attack, range, and energy to max. I think Mikey did a playthrough of it once with normal weapons, so apparently people have done it, but I don't have time for that. Dodge rolling helps, IIRC.

It felt like dodge rolling was borderline required to even survive which was the thing that really irked me about it. She would also switch between attacks just fast enough that you barely had time to catch your breath after each roll. I feel like it should have been toned down a bit so you weren't required to backtrack and refill everything just to get by.

One of the best strategies I used was to never max out your life gauge, because your canteen goes a lot farther with the smallest hp thanks to Legends never instantly killing you.

This is also good if you don't know Sera's timing well enough to dodge, or if you just don't feel like dodging because it gets very tedious after awhile.

Well, something like that. My deal was that I had trained myself to dodge Sera, not just kill her with normal weapons. I've managed to kill her with just a Buster Gun without getting hit on Very Hard mode, but undergroundruin's managed to do even better by not getting hit, not jumping, and using a Buster that focused on low range, low attack, but high rapid on Very Hard. Provided we're speaking of Normal Difficulty, Sera's... actually relatively easy compared to what she could be. In Very Hard mode, the number of meteors she calls down is significantly more, has more hp, more defense, and typically 0's out your HP regardless of how big your hp bar is with any one of her attacks.

If you want to use Trege's strategy, it will most certainly work, but depending on your skill level, you'll find yourself pausing pretty often to slurp some canteen, not to mention it's rather cheap abuse of mechanics to begin with.

As far as preparing to battle Sera is concerned, common sense dictates that you're not really supposed to fight her directly after reaching her anyways. Is it a long distance to traverse? Yes. But you'll need to make sure you're prepared for the finale, as I've done time and time again in the past.

Although the quality of our old videos are embarrassing, me and Buster certainly have a few examples of weaponry and/or strategies you can use against her.

If you decide to try the homing missile, note that mine isn't even fully upgraded, so it's perfect if you're on a budget or don't want to grind King Mirocs / Fire Zakobons all day (the upgrades are in the video's description). You essentially just fire it when you can and are sure you won't run out of ammo in doing so. By itself, it can take care of Sera's first form without you ever needing your buster because of how often she teleports; the missiles will recharge while you wait for her to reappear. Also I've found that her 1st form's defense to Buster Gun shots are similar to the 2nd form's defense. In contrast, the 1st form seems to take way more damage from the Homing Missile than the 2nd form, so take that as you will.

The Crusher's a bit more technical. You're looking for Sera to use moves that keep her rooted for long periods of time such as the 1st form's gravity field, 1st form's homing bombs, and 2nd form's meteor shower. BC wasn't so lucky with Sera using Meteor shower early on, so you're able to see some of his dodging techniques for the form you're having trouble with. BC also likes to take advantage of Sera's sweeping laser as a rooted attack, but I say "screw that, make that attack last as short as you can." It all depends on the person.

Naturally, you can't go wrong with a Shining Laser approach, but that's entirely up to you. Ultimately, if you want to deal with Sera effectively, you'll have to prepare a bit in advance so it's not as much of a nightmare when you have to actually do it. I say a little more pressure outside of the heat of battle is worth less pressure in the heat of battle. The encounter with Sera is only as much perfection-based as you decide to make it. Once you can recognize all of her attacks, it's a matter of setting rules for yourself. What I would recommend is studying our videos if studying her while under the heat of battle is difficult for yah. Afterwards, you may have an easier time recognizing her attacks and reacting to them.

Lastly, I don't think anybody who fights Juno or Sera for the first time is supposed to necessarily win. As final bosses of the Legends Series, I would say they're actually pretty fair, and have a learning curve that you'll simply have to explore and climb if you want to succeed. This is often done (and probably meant to be done) alone, but these days it's nice to get help from people who have been there and done that.

This is actually a lot of useful info, thanks! Maybe it was a lack of experience that was making it so hard but I'll try to keep all this stuff in mind should I go for a second playthrough (which I very well might do soon). I still feel to some extent that it was a little...excessively difficult. This does change a bit of how I feel though.

[Buster Cannon]

There's a key difference between Juno and Sera, consistency.

Juno is tough, but once you learn how to dodge his attacks, you aren't really at risk of getting hit by them again. He uses them one-by-one; the effects of the previous attack never overlap into the next one, and each attack is marked by a clear tell. Sera, on the other hand (at least in her 2nd form), has the capacity to seriously wreck you. The gravity well in particular goes out of its way to mess up the consistency of the fight; if she uses that and follows up with the meteors and/or laser, it might be gg. Sera's attacks also leave far less of a margin for error. Juno's hardest attack is the rainbow laser, yet even on Hard Mode it's pretty straightforward. Sera's floating laser maze can be tough to see (notice that I rotate the camera in the vid that Mikéy posted), and her laser attack doesn't really have a set pattern. This isn't to say that Sera is impossible to beat, but it's tough.

I also agree that the boss rush really didn't need to be located where it is. If you want to change weapons, that's a 4-floor climb back to the Master's House, where you now have to make your way back to Terra and find Roll. It would have made more sense to at least build a shortcut between Sera's room and the Master's House in order to cut down on the travel time.

Well, I've got a no canteen buster only run setup now, I'll try and provide general advice for her attacks as well.
One thing I tend to do when a boss starts to annoy me, is to mute the Legends 2 soundtrack in the game options and listen to internet radio, or something else, it's surprising how much it helps you relax in a fight.

I had to change my graphics settings for part 2 because of Sera's gravity well.

The random freezing is a result of spotify ads and Sera destroying my recorder with her flashy moves.

1st Form :
Some general advice for Sera's first form is to try and roll into her yellow bullet attacks, attempting to run from them is more risky than rolling under them. For her green missile attack you want to jump away from it shortly after she begins charging it, it's possible to dodge roll under them, but it rarely works if you're not used to it. When she uses her red dash attack you want to release lock and run left, or right of it. Locking on during her red dash will most likely result in you getting nicked by the edge of it, if you're used to dodge rolling you can use that instead.

Finally Sera's strange quake attack, this one I had the most trouble with as you can see in the video. Generally you need to dodge roll right before, or as she collides with the ground the lower gravity makes it impossible to run from the bombs you have to keep rolling away from them or make them hit a wall.


2nd Form :
Sera's 2nd form the bane of my existence.

This form is probably the most sadistic of all bosses in the entire series.

The biggest problem with Sera here is her massive attack power, and the fact that her red laser is nearly impossible to avoid, however it can be avoided once you know exactly what to do. There are 2 methods most people zig-zag to reduce the accuracy of her laser, but if you watch the video her laser attack can be cancelled by jumping right above it, and moving backwards at the same time. It's a little tricky to do at first, she may even cause you to dance just to avoid it if you mess up.

Her multi laser is actually really easy to avoid once you understand how it works, basically the first laser tracks you with like 95% accuracy, but if you can manage to diagonally run while turning the camera you can cause her lasers to lose complete track of you, and you can circle around to her backside for some free shots, or run underneath her if you're crazy however the battleground makes this difficult to maintain because of its square shape, and you risk running into the lasers while locked on.

Her meteor attack is by far the easiest to avoid when the gravity well isn't in effect simply avoid the orange circles on the ground.

When she laughs she's going to ram you, simply run left or right, or dodge roll if you are comfortable with that. Sometimes she'll try to ram you with no sound at all the only way to tell, is if she's homing in on you with stupidly high accuracy.

Now when her gravity well comes into play she'll throw a ball onto the field that hits the ground and expands, it sucks you in like a black hole and reduces your movement speed. This is by far the most annoying part in the entire fight, I've learned one thing though, if you can make her gravity well hit the center of the field you can orbit around it like a satellite which actually makes you run faster, but if you touch the center at all you'll be locked into place at Sera's mercy.

This is just general advice with a video, not an attempted challenge run. I think I've covered all of her attacks, but if not someone is bound to remind me of what I missed.

Another thing to remember is that Legends 2 is a very forgiving game, and you can recover from most mistakes made those videos were recorded on Very Hard Mode, so it should be a lot easier on normal.
