In April of next year, we're expected to receive our very first Ratchet & Clank movie. I expect this to be something Fatman will enjoy. Unfortunately, I was stupid and didn't even play through the very first game (although I did play Going Commando straight through to Deadlocked), so maybe I'll be queued in on some important story. I haven't been able to play any game outside of the Playstation 2 era, so I'm hoping they'll turn it into a series of movies of sorts like Harry Potter so I can enjoy the story without having to buy an overpriced console. But that's thinking too far ahead. This will be something I watch in theatres ASAP. Share your thoughts!

I only have one problem. The character that appears to be Dr. Nefarious is organic and Lawrence is nowhere to be found. Did I miss something here?

Was Dr. Nefarious part of the original (first) game? I thought he didn't appear until Up Your Arsenal.

Exactly. He was responsible for the Ameboid infestation in Blackwater City on planet Rilgar. This was after his organic body's demise at the hands of Captain Quark some time prior to the first game. To further complicate things, R&C:UYA takes place two years after R&C, which reveals these facts about Nefarious. There is no way that Quark had the time to accidentally push Nefarious into a pit of running cogs in between being Drek's sponsor and trying to eliminate our titacular heroes. I smell continuity dissonance here and I don't like it.

Or it could just be Insomniac and the movie staff retconning it for the new game, as well as sequel hooks to develop the movie's continuity. They never said the movie was going to accurately follow the games, and I like that. It's an expansion of the original story, and I for one don't mind.
If I were going to pitch a big temper tantrum about anything, it'd be that Drek doesn't entirely sound like he did in the game, but I can forgive that too.
And can I just add that I am so happy you guys are interested in Ratchet & Clank? I love the games so much, it makes me so glad other MMLS forum-goers are fans of the series. Hold your Omniwrenches high!

I found out about the news from an email from Facebook. That's not how I expected to find out, but apparently it was trending much like an explosion and Facebook felt the need to show me, even though I haven't logged in on Facebook in months.
Anyways, yes. I have a fondness for the Ratchet and Clank games, even though I haven't been able to play since Deadlocked due to the series moving onwards to the PS3. I have high hopes for a movie and hope it can move on to a series.

Well, Mikey, there IS the Ratchet & Clank HD Collection for PS3 and Vita. You can play the first three games in HD now. And Deadlocked also has an HD port, with active online multiplayer.

Unfortunately though, I own neither. I do own three out of the four Playstation 2 games and can play / legally emulate them as I see fit, but yeah. I don't see myself moving forward in the series much due to my lack of hardware.
Now if they get re-released on PC, then that would be a blessing.

Only three of the four? Which one is missing? Also, somewhat related question; What Weapon do you find yourself using the most in each game?

Only three of the four? Which one is missing? Also, somewhat related question; What Weapon do you find yourself using the most in each game? My original post says which one I missed. This one will essentially tell you as well. In Going Commando, I liked using the RYNO II whenever I could get it. But when I couldn't, my favorite standard weapons had to be the Bouncer and Multi-star, although the latter I wouldn't use for the replay-through. In Up Your Arsenal, I have a fondness for the Quantum Whip. The Bouncer makes a return here as well, so I like that, particularly for replay-throughs, since the Bouncer does a good job getting through armor of certain bosses. I also like the holo-shield glove. In Deadlocked, I like the Leviathan Flail, and the Silencer. Although in co-op play, I liked dodging and using gadgets to support the teammate moreso than using weaponry.

That's "SketchMan3". Capital S, capital M and the number 3. It's official (nicknames are ok, though)

Doesn't look bad. Doesn't look exceptionally great... trailer has it's fair share of cliche moments, but it's definitely looking like a huge step up from the general horrible lot of video game movies we've had up until this point.

A little late to the party, but I agree. I think the quality comes from the producers of the movie holding parts of Insomniac's R&C team. Something that a lot of game-based movies seem to lack as far as I've noticed. The inability to accurately represent the source material is the main reason why other movies flop. Certainly this one will be different in that aspect.
