Misadventures of Tron Bonne will get a Classics release it seems. Not quite true for Legends however... Apparently MoTB doesn't contain any noteworthy IP violations, but Legends certainly does, long story short. Representatives declined to mention exactly what kind of IP Legends contained that they couldn't redistribute, but if you want my opinion.... It has to do with Inafune. I'm just assuming, but it seems likely that while Capcom retains the rights to the vast majority of the Megaman franchise, Inafune probably took the rights to some of the core Legends material with him when he left... it was kind of his baby after all. All I can say on the matter, is that the world needs to seriously rethink its policy on information property, because the ones we have now, don't work very well with digital information in general.

I heard it was the YAG studio that was causing them problems. But yeah, the ESRB put out a rating for MoTB. It's something, at least, since the game is such a pain to emulate and find for an affordable price. I wish I had PSN access so I could just buy a bunch of them. I'll probably end up buying it for every local friend I have with a Playstation console.

Protodude has recently made a post about Legends' copyright issues. When I saw the post, I thought of this thread right away. As I'm always slow to catch up with the news, though, 99.999% of the active forum members here have probably seen this already , but since it's pertinent to the discussion on this thread, I figured I might as well leave the link here. www.rockman-corner.com/2015/05/regarding-mega-man-legends-and-property.html

That was a really good read, Aiyumi. Somehow this topic altogether managed to slip under my nose. I used to follow the Megaman Network and Protodude, but when my machines started slowing down, I kinda cut them out to save time. Since I have a new machine, I suppose I can make a few extra home tabs again. It's amazing to see how long copyright can make people miserable. I didn't think it was capable of spanning over a decade. I thought if something got old enough, it would become public domain or something.

Wikipedia says Japanese copyright is good for fifty years after an IP's publication, or fifty years after its creation if it wasn't published for IPs of corporations or humans. If that's accurate, hope you like waiting!

Fifty years. Hilarious. Could very well be because the people who established said copyright would most likely be dead by that time.

You realize US copyright extends to 80 years after the death of the original copyright holder...? And transfers to whomever the current holder wishes either by inheritance after death, or via gift or sale...
This is why Disney characters still belong to Disney instead of public domain. Disney has railroaded the extension of copyright length multiple times. (It was originally 25 years)

Disney is timeless, that's why.

Not according to copyright. Most of it should technically be public domain by now... But, corporate greed, etc.
