ehh, how did everyone link the profiles? [/noobquestion] You use an "at" (@) character followed by the person's username, RyanLEO. For example: @admin links fAB because it's his username, not his display name.
Likewise, @mwarrior links you. E: and yeah... now that Dashe mentions it, everybody after her has the list of names in the exact same order. EE: I noticed a few broken @ tags. You have to use the person's username. You can find that in the upper right corner of their profile page.

Merry Christmas everyone! I'd have replied to this sooner if I wasn't indisposed. I'll start with my main man Avegodro who did a splendid reunion drawing. I may be wrong but I think this is the only image of all of them together! I especially like Joe's snowman sweater and Matilda's Roll-like outfit. HF - I really liked both your submissions. I think the reaverbot scene looks great. I would have never thought you could make such a great hanmaru doll just out of keyboard symbols. Also are those Christmas tree arms? The zakobun seem mystified by them! As for Rock's weakness I'm glad you went this route! Quite hilarious and very expected of you. Now am I wrong or is the bottom right photo reminiscent of Meryl in MGS1? ravenf6 That's alot of pizza just for the Caskett family! Oh well, can you really steal from pirates? Man those Score figures are great! Handlebar-Orion X. Looking good buddy. This is probably the most Christmasy entry out of them all. It's really cute how Bon is just passed out over on his side. fAB This is such a classy entry. The whole concept is great and I like how Yuna and Sera are shaped. It may not be in Sera's character to dance, but maybe after MML2 she got that system stick out of her butt. Blyka Ha you know I thought that whatever this entry turned out to be that it would be funny. Instead it was very sad! Which is great because I like sad artwork. We need more sad stuff! It is cute but I think that just makes it better. Who knows though, maybe Matilda will jog Banner's memory and he'll leave one family for another! Merry Christmas! MegaTuga Your video had alot of very Legends-specific humor to it that I really appreciate. I didn't think food preparation could be more dangerous than when Data was at the helm but I was wrong. If Rock had made that pizza the Flutter would have been doomed. RyanLEO Great job on the paper crafts! I've tried to do them before but it doesn't work out too well! I'll have to try again now! Dashe Those models look great. How did you make them? I was thinking about doing something similar! I enjoy the lack of mouths. Very cute. Also the way you did the explosion was pretty creative. Santa Melty Excellent! I'm sure this is exactly what HF wanted! The expressions are great. Rocks face looks very matter-of-fact and his sarcastic remark pulls it all together. Roll's expression is...hmm... cautiously, pleasantly surprised, but also stunned. Great scene MLT. Now write the fan fic. I found a website you can put it up on once. Dragge Too be honest I don't remember that part in MoTB! Great drawing though. The servebot's expression is priceless and Bon looks a bit peeved. Mikéy Finally Mikey. For certain your website is the most expansive of all entries. I've only got to play it bit and havn't won yet. It's fun, and funny, but it looks like playing nice guy isn't working so I'm going to punt B and C. Loken Yeah you should totally paint servbots kissing when you are no longer sick! Great job folks! Oh and I didn't use Dashe's format!

Handlebar-Orion X.Apologies for the vague description; I'm really a dork about Christmas at heart, so I tend to throw out prompts that allow creative freedom while capturing the spirit of Christmas in some way. It is indeed cozy, as Dashe said, and quite Christmasy, so many thanks! DasheMerry Christmas! Glad you're digging the bleakness in Matilda's expression. XD Naturally I considered other more humorous/potentially obvious emotions she might be going through for such an event (vengefully plotting against Joe and his new wife, ecstatic and hitting the single's scene, etc.), but this one best matched my desired medium this year (tools were just scissors and tweezers). Besides, it is pretty sad if you think about it. Anyway, awesome turn out this year--congratulations to everyone for finishing on time! Definitely some unique pieces this year what with ASCII art, text adventures, videos and so on. Another successful Secret Santa... hard to believe my first one was five years ago now. And thanks to Mikéy for his management duties this year (and Dashe for the snazzy banner image). Hope everyone had a merry Christmas, and here's to a happy New Year!

Defintely a nice crop, this year: @fab:Pretty good, this one feels like something one would find in a rave. @ryanleo: Lovely paper models. I keep thinking of that lampost bit from A Christmas Story around this time of year when someone double-dog dares someone. Blyka: Aw, poor Matilda.. that fits the image perfectly.... @hf: Didn't expect this kind of art from you. It makes me wonder if folks will run away, Monty Python style, upon seeing a group of reaverbots on thier first holiday cheer bid. Dragge: I could see this happening to Bon- butterfingers for big guys is the worst thing to happen on shipping jobs. : Mikéy: Pretty inventive, this game. I blew it the first time, but recovered the 2nd time. These kind of games mess with your head in subtle ways, and seeing all those reactions from Volnutt is a plus. Loken: Oh, I've known that pain for years, working christmas day. Though I'm starting to think I created a monster, the way folks are asking for the servbots to kiss... But that's individual interpretation, this was a nice simple pic for it, so I'm happy with it. @handlebar-OrionX: Oh, that is just precious- I like that servbot resting in Tron's lap, though Seeing Bon rest like a cat is just plain adorable. MegaTuga: This was very amusing- I loved the idea of Volnutt trying to teach a recipe.. but he needs to use more conventional tools. I'm betting ther was another reason why Roll sold all his weapons and armor.. Dashe: Ooh, clay figures- very nice ones, and the explosion effect is nicely done.. I wonder though, isn't crossing the blasts kind of a taboo? like 'crossing-the-streams' bad? @avegordo: I know this is something Roll has been wanting for a long time. To see it happen really brings on the feels.. is that the #28 rocket on the mantle? @hf: I'm nicknaming that servbot Dick Dastardly- that was one heck of a trap he set up... Roll and a nail bat, Game Over... MegaTuga: This idea came together almost instantenously. The only I lacked was both a pizza- I rememberd the encounter before fighting Bruno, and his writing a letter to Tron, unaware she's sharing the same prison cell. Aside nostalgia, it took a while to set up on account that the shot was set on an uneven surface, and the Tiesel figure was a bit top-heavy: it kept falling over, or the head twisted where I didn't want it to. It was worth the trouble to capture Tiesle's reaction, and see the side bit.

Those models look great. How did you make them? I was thinking about doing something similar! I enjoy the lack of mouths. Very cute. Also the way you did the explosion was pretty creative. It was this stuff, painted. The target audience may be little kids, but for air dry clay it stays malleable for a longer time than the other brand I've used. The reason it doesn't have a mouth is because I actually really suck at sculpting and lack the dexterity to make mouths that actually look like mouths. Still, that's what Secret Santa's really about! Picking a medium you know you're horrible at using and not being afraid to make a mess out of the whole thing! Ooh, clay figures- very nice ones, and the explosion effect is nicely done.. I wonder though, isn't crossing the blasts kind of a taboo? like 'crossing-the-streams' bad? That's the first I've heard about not crossing blasts. It was what fit into the shot. Is it just bad luck, or does it result in a premature collision and render the attempted attack ineffective? I mean, that explosion does happen BEHIND the target, so both of them missed! Epic buster fail!

A lot of variety this year. Well done, all around. And to everyone who gave me feedback, much thanks. Don't have much time atm, but just to comment on a few of the pieces: RyanLEO, Interesting you chose papercraft, as that was one of the things I'd been seriously considering. Thank you for this. The smug look on the servbot fits perfectly. I kind of imagine this being a scene from Mikey's text adventure (on the violent psychopath route). MegaTuga, I wasn't sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't the Paranoid Digger Cooking Show. Got a few chuckles out of this one. Making fun of Trigger seems to be a theme this year, and I approve. Dragge, This was another one that gave me a laugh. Bonus points to you and Fab for the MoTB reference, that game doesn't seem to get enough play. fAB, As I mentioned, this one caught my eye when I was looking at the previews. I'm not sure what I'm looking at exactly, but I like it. Shadow art is pretty novel as SS gifts go. Blyka, This was another one that caught my eye in the previews. Simple but effective; I like the choice of white on black. Mikéy, Oh gosh, an interactive submission. A man after my own heart. Very amusing writing. Except when Roll dies, that was slightly horrific. But then I started over and started kicking things and felt a lot better about it. Got my memory wiped a few times before winning, but actually needed to go out of my way to be a jerk to get my first loss. And of course, props to HF for submitting two items. Been too long since that was a regular thing. That ASCII's amazing! It also seems like Rock just can't argue himself out of anything. (And see? I knew the whole body-parts idea didn't fly!) Glad you like it. I can't quite tell who the girl is though. I'd like to say it's Roll because her closet is the most accessible...damn I'm embarrassed. I should know this! It is, in fact, Roll. The idea was that she just came out of the bath, so her hair's all wet. My original plan was to have a third panel to make the scenario more obvious, but I never got around to it. (True story, early in the evening before the deadline I accidentally took a sleeping aid. So a good part of that ASCII art was done while I was in a half-waking zombie state. 2/10 would not recommend.)

I'm glad my webstory's getting more praise than I thought it would. It's a completely new medium that I brought to the table, and I had weird feelings about that from time to time. xD I passively gave comments via pm to most participants as they turned submissions in, but I'll put together a little public review for every entry tonight. HF A - The speed in which you put this together blew my mind. Turning something in on the 11th deserves recognition in itself, so major kudos. You even made all of the reaverbots look the way they're supposed to! @ B - Perhaps a bit more suggestive than my story, but still funny with nail-bat Roll. Even though it's a WIP, it still looks pretty great outlined; and you didn't even have to do it! I'm sure RyanLEO was pleased. ravenf6 - I was super jealous when I saw how easily you put this one together, in all honesty. But, I'm glad you used real elements coupled with novelty items to put together a quick-and-viable Secret Santa. Gratz on having an easy scenario to not have to draw! Handlebar-Orion X. - Considering the vague prompt, I really like the outcome. It's warm and cozy. fAB - That one sure is different. I can't tell if the light's reflecting off a wall or a ceiling, but I feel as if I've seen that texture before somewhere. As for the figures themselves, can they be shared too? Just curious. Blyka - I mentioned papercrafting, so I thought it was very well-done when I saw yours. I don't think I would've been able to visualize that before attempting to cut it, so excellent job. MegaTuga - Funny all around. It reminds me of my submission, but a bit less interactive. It must've been fun to think of all of that dialogue. I can't say that I'm confident that Trigger wouldn't act that way if we ever saw him in charge of a holiday dinner. Avegodro - Dang. I remember seeing you first get started with drawing, and this picture shows that you've come a really long way since then. It almost feels like a shame that you get stuck with a regular badge! Absolutely wonderful nevertheless. RyanLEO - The servbot looks pretty funny in all honesty. The main thing that worried me was whether or not people would recognize those bombs from the bomb event. I originally thought they looked like brown legos that far away. Overall though, model papercrafts was a good way to pull off MLT's request. Good on ya. Dashe - Filters filters and more filters, huh? I can't say any of the obscuring filters should've been used because we kinda prefer to go with the best detail as we can. Hopefully that didn't put a dapper on things. xD As for working with the stuff for the first time, I think it came out pretty well. Using paper to show the explosion was a pretty good idea, and we still get to clearly see the detail on the Zakobon. Santa Melty - My phone butchers this submission so badly it's not even funny. But as for when I'm able to look at it in its true form, it's really well done for a text submission. I still have trouble comprehending how people pull off things like this. Loken - For painting, I think it's a job well done. Maybe raven was thinking of something with more decoration aside from a mistletoe (that is a mistletoe, right?) , but the fact that the servbots are upset about having to work on Christmas is a good interpretation too. Dragge - If you don't count my terrible attempts and MegaTuga's amusing video, this one's definitely the funniest of the bunch. While MegaTuga had me chuckling here and there, this one caused me to give an audible "Haaah." the first time I saw it. Another shame to not give a premium badge for, I think. Good job everyone. I'm super-glad there weren't any true failures this year.

Handlebar-Orion X. - Considering the vague prompt, I really like the outcome. It's warm and cozy. Good job everyone. I'm super-glad there weren't any true failures this year. That's exactly what I was going for. That, and a little PS1/Sega Saturn prerendering. (though I didn't. The bookshelf was =just photoshop taken from a snapshot from MML1. Everything else, and the effects were all me though.) So I'm glad it turned out well! Probably my best in two years.

Yeah Mikey I wish my first draft would have worked out. It was zoomed out tge counter a bit with a christmas tree in the far left foreground instead of a missletoe and with one of the servebots bringing out a customers burger. It looked kind of terrible in spots where id messed up but I WAS going to use it anyway. Unfortunate I brought it to a friends house to work on it and dropped in straight in the mud when I got out of my truck ; c

In before the year ends, go me! Dragge, thank you so much for the great fulfillment of my request! I really couldn't imagine what shenanigans Bon might end up in, but to put him in an actual MOTB scenario strikes me as simplistically brilliant. The Bon Tank was a great idea, and throwing in some humor as well was wonderful. Love it! Well, i wasn't expecting Yuna and Sera's Kwanzaa to be like the graphics on the walls outside of Gameworks up in Seattle, (which I hope to god I can move to as soon as possible,) so for that reason alone, thanks fAB! It makes my mediocre Christmas this year a little bit brighter. As I mentioned earlier, I had so many different ideas on how I might fulfill your request before I finally arrived at this. Glad to know it worked and helped to brighten your holiday! Making process for the curious: No 3D computer artwork here, as you can see. No figures here either, just card stock cutouts (cut freehand, no drawing beyond a few pen swipe stick figures to help guide me on pose and proportion). The two halves of the paper towel roll were cut jagged to create a subtle but more interesting effect on the edges of the spotlight effect. Background is just a guitar case. I actually wanted to set both figures up with a red and green Christmas tree light shining on both of them with the camera taking the shot in the middle (the red on one side, black in the center, green on the right symbolizing the candles of Kwanzaa), but it turned out the lights weren't strong enough to cast any definitive shadows. I had to use a flashlight instead, take the shots individually, tint and combine them in Photoshop. Worked out the same, though I wish I'd been able to avoid digital editing all together. As for Sera dancing, well, what can you do when you get the word "shindig" in your prompt. XP Thanks everyone for your comments on my piece, and again great job to all!

Sorry for taking so long to go over everyone's awesome entries this year, I kept getting sidetracked. Really happy to hear that everyone who signed up submitted an entry, great work everyone! HF: This is awesome, are they caroling? I'm just not sure if I'd offer them hot cocoa, being killer robots and all. I think his real weakness is not knowing Roll has a baseball bat with nails in it. ravenf6: Really digging the figurines, I sure hope at least they didn't steal the toilet paper to. Handlebar-Orion X.: Great image Handlebar, I'm sure all the servbots love to hear Christmas stories and then promptly fall asleep for a nap. fAB: Lovely use of lighting and the cutouts fAB looks great, I just imagine there being one of those arcade dancing machines up there on Elysium. Blyka: Poor Matilda great art sad subject, nice work Blyka. I wonder if amnesia holds up in court when it comes to paying child support. MegaTuga: Probably a good thing Roll packs his lunch, otherwise he's snacking on reaverbots. Mikéy: It took me about five to six times to save Roll, this whole thing is awesome. RyanLEO: The paper models are a nice touch good job, that's one confident servbot there, no chance of him messing this plan up. Dashe: These are some snazzy looking clay models. I guess the holidays are a bad time to be a reaverbot. Santa Melty: I'm sure there is a good legitimate reason for that set of circumstances, nice job MLT. Loken: Great work on this Loken, get your fries with a smile and a bit of pirate surveillance. Dragge: I laughed a good while at this, great work Dragge, Bon doesn't need moves. Thanks Dashe and HF I think I will try to draw people more in the near future, it was fun doing this piece. I do wonder what his ship would look like RyanLEO, I just did up a model of a rocket. Thanks Loken, I'm glad you like it, I wanted to do a good job for ya and give it a good holiday vibe. Probably rocket number 30 something ravenf6, those rockets are quite tricky. Thanks Mikéy, the regular badge is okay with me, it was fun doing some legends fan art and bringing some holiday cheer.

wow. I also got extremely side-tracked. If it wasn't for avegodro I would completely forget about this. HF: I'm not sure if using the Hanmaru Doll's arms as christmans trees is a good idea... ravenf6: All I could say when I first saw this was: OMG THAT IS BRILLIANT. Tiesel's face and expression fits everywhere. Handlebar-Orion X.: I melted inside. That is just adorable X3 fAB: Nice use of shadows. I would have never thought of that. Kudos. Blyka: Awwww. I would have never realize that Matilda would be this sad. MegaTuga: Oy. This is ridiculous. This is not even yours! I guess you did write it but... It is still not yours! Mikéy: This is just so awesome that there is no room for complaints. Funny thing is that I wanted to do something like this. RyanLEO: Oh I remember these. I suck at papercrafting/everything with paper... But anyway, Great job! Dashe: Oy, Misstress Dashe, Isn't that a bit too much overkill? Just saying XD Santa Melty: I'm... I'm speechless. If there ever was a game where the graphics would be like this... well, I'm just saying that it looks pretty good, that's it... eheh. Loken: *you're ... Okay I'm sorry I shouldn't be that much of a grammar nazi when I myself commit worse mistakes. Servbots looks cute though ^^ Dragge: Bon is clearly speaking for us all who played that game: "Screw this! Can't I just throw it and be done with?" Okay, I feel like I have to give dragge a couple of explanations. Like I said before, originally it was going to be done like mikey's, as in where you would pick out your ingredients and then Roll and Tron would evaluate and taste-test the result. But I couldn't get heads or tails with the program I was using and the source sprites/backgrounds were smaller than the regular window of the game, making it look kind of ugly. So I decided to go back with a video... thing is... I don't have a video editing program. I was confident that I would have Movie Maker in my Win7 but apparently it doesn't come with the OS. SO I used my last resort... POWERPOINT. Might I add that it was extremely easy to do in powerpoint, I was very pleased with the result. Since I could export the presentation to video format I went ahead and also converted it to mp4 so everyone in any OS could watch it without problems.

Haha. I was actually wondering when to lock the topic, since it had been a solid week since anybody had responded. Glad I decided to wait. I think we'll do that sometime in February now. MegaTuga Ah. Google Sites is a very user-friendly-and-for-fun webpage builder that lets you share the site you create with others. It's so user-friendly that sometimes I pull my hair trying to figure out how to turn something obnoxious off. I think I managed to get my site looking somewhat normal with the links and nasty slip-ins of Google's by the time half of the deadline was over. If you know you have almost two weeks of time to submit a secret santa, then I definitely recommend acquainting yourself with Google Sites if you're looking for a variable user-driven choice kind of story. Then you can work on your submission a little at a time, and slowly mold the entire site into what you want it to look like in the time period. Although I will admit, a week is probably not enough time. You'll definitely need breaks from that nonsense every once in awhile. I mentioned somewhere back in the thread that I took one; believe me when I say I needed it. Oh wait, you don't have to believe me. Just look at the product. Heh.
